More on Mel's film

I am of the Jewish faith, so I thought I might bring this up.

As a Jew I feel a little worried that new anti-semetic feelings will make themselves known after this movie is released. Am I a paranoid guy or is this going to happen. Furthermore I also want to know what you Christians feel about my faith in regards to this subject of Mel's movie?

Well, Jews did kill Christ, but only a couple of them. I wouldn't ever blame an entire religion or ethnicity for the actions of a few.

If Jesus didn't die for their sins Christians wouldn't have a faith. It's the whole point, right?

You can't blame an entire people on the murder of one man. Jesus was kileed due to persicution. Don't forget that Jesus himself was Jewish.

Uhh...My post was serious. People are only making a big deal about it because Mel is trying to play off the publicity. The film will bomb, unless it has the right advertising. I don't get where you're coming from insulting my integrity like that.

The media is playing off the negative publicity, not Mel Gibson. I think this movie will be huge.

 

This movie will be a big seller, regardless of any of our opinions about it. It already has a huge pre-sale ratio. There are church organizations buying out entire theaters in advance.

The Jewish Sanhedrin (i.e. the religious leaders) delivered Christ up to the Romans. So if anyone can be "blamed" for the death of Christ, they can.

Mel is doing interviews and other things, to help take advantage of the media.

I am confident the movie will be huge, as well Naboo1. It seems only to be a question of where it will make more money-by Christians wanting to see yet another film about Christ....or people curious to see if it is offensive to Jews...

The Jews did not kill Christ, nor the Romans....we all did...all of our ancestors. They may not all have been present in Jerusalem in those days for the Passion of Christ, but had they been in place of the people who were there, they would have been rooting for Jesus' death all the same.

 

Yeah, cause he should definatley not stand up for his film when he is being accused of anti-semitism. I can't believe the nerve of Mel!

Sure, maybe. But what symbol is most easily identifiable with Christianity? What's sticking out of the top of every church? As amazing as Christ's life was leading up to the crucifixion, the events of "Passion Week" are what really made the faith. Without the "death for our sins" I highly doubt that Christianity would be the dominant faith that it is today, for it is that powerful symbolism that made believers out of so many people. That's all I was saying.

 

I think people will be interested in seeing the movie simply because it looks good, and people like Mel Gibson.

The Media tries its best to tell us what we should and shouldn't like about certain films, etc, because its the media.?
