I didn't see any threads discussing this topic so I hope this is ok. Mortal kombat online.com has some new info on the next Mortal Kombat game and they also have a trailer up. The game looks awesome and I can't wait for it too come out next fall. I've played everygame since the first one which came out in 93'. Use this thread to talk about the greatness that is MORTAL KOMBAT. ~FIN

    don't worry too much Bloodfin.

this forum just isn't as hip-hopping as the others.

plus, if you gave more info as to news involving the game, more people might get into the conversation.

I am exciting about this title, i just dont know much.

Ok that's a good Idea, I thought I gave some info on the game but here's some more info:

Some of the characters from MK2 are coming back like,

    Baraka,millena, and ermack.

There will be multiple fatalities (unlike MKDA)for each character.

There will also be stage fatalities like in the old games.

I'm not really sure about the plot but this is also going to be the first fighting game to have online play.

As of right now I don't think MK6 will be on the gamecube!

    That's all I know for right now.~FIN

Looks like it's just going to be PS2 and the Xbox that get it. Seems they droped Cube support.

Midway has no games in development for Nintendo's system.

    >>> The publisher this afternoon confirmed to IGN that it is has no plans to develop a GCN build of Deception. "Mortal Kombat: Deception is not under development for GameCube," a Midway representative said.<<<

I just hope they bring back Shang Tsung, It just isnt MK without him.

The inclusion of Stage Fatalties is a Excellent! and every character will have more than one Fatality!

Whether or not this means that they will just make up one new one for each Character or they will make 2 brand new ones...Who can tell?

A "Weapons" Fataility is a Awsome thought!

    Can't wait!

My main beef with MK5 was that, while a cool game, lacked stage fatalities and multiple fatalities.

    This looks real promising.

And on top of that, Midway is releasing their second volume of Arcade Treasures for all 3 systems and among the games included, it will include arcade perfect ports of the original MK and MK2.

Now that is very cool in my book.

I thought Midway canceled all Gamecube support? Midway Treasures is only listed as Xbox and PS2 here. The only game I'm interested on that is NARC.

I would be happier if they came out and said it's going to be a port of Mortal Kombat 2 (+Kano and Sonia) brought onto an engine similar to MK5 but with some tweaks.

Keep the wicked martial arts system but change the weapons slightly. Make it so the weapon is more special. eg. If the opponent can do a certain amount of damage with one move or combo then he can knock it away from you. A block/counter system like DOA would be good too. eg. Someone goes for a sword swing and you counter it but blocking it on your weapon and kick their weapon out of their hands. Now that would be a step in the right direction.

But from the screenshots it looks good anyway.

Well, MK 2 is the best in the series. After that... it got silly.

But MK5 came close. It was a damn good game with some faults such as missing key elements that make MK... MK.

But with these elements coming back, MK6 might stand head to head with MK2.

As for the compilation disc... NARC! That game was so friggin' awsome. I used to waste so many quarters on it back in the day. Blowing up junkies into bits of gore and body parts and collecting bags of blow for bonus points :D

They're making a new NARC installment in full 3D I saw. Wonder if it'll be any good.

I'm glad you all are as hyped about this game as me,Here's some more info for ya!

Forum/chat member Hydro was able to get us a copy of the PSM feature article on Mortal Kombat: Deception, and it was worth the wait! The issue is chock-full of information on the different play modes. Rather than quote the article, we're going to summarize what we have learned.

Konquest mode has returned in a much expanded form. Unlike MK: Deadly Alliance's Konquest, the new version is much more akin to something out of Grand Theft Auto. You still have to attend the dojo to learn from characters like Bo'Rai Cho, but there are also random encounters and events in the village that can be the clue to secret techniques and other rewards. (You can even beat up hapless villagers for the heck of it). As in MK:DA, the goal of Konquest is to learn the combos and strategies of the game. Best of all, Konquest acts as a create-a-character mode, where you build up your generic monk character through the Konquest, and when done, can use him in the other game modes, including online play.

As far as characters go... Nightwolf is indeed confirmed to return in the game. Noob Saibot is also poised to return. One surprise, though, comes in the form of Sindel, who, like Nightwolf, is making her first appearance in MK since Mortal Kombat Trilogy. New characters include an armored warrior named Hotaru, and the mysterious white-clad woman in the trailer, called Ashrah. The unknown warrior referred to in the last news article is in fact Sub-Zero's alt costume; not much is revealed about him either. Moreover, it is revealed that the boss in this game is the Dragon King, whose unseen presence figured prominently in the events of MK: Deadly Alliance. Speaking of said events, it is also confirmed that the game takes place in the aftermath of Deadly Alliance.

The gameplay also has been tightened up since the last MK. As before, each character has three fighting stances, though they are barely touched upon in the article. However, the characters are now quicker and easier to move around. In addition to their armed fighting styles, the arenas now have weapons available that can be picked up, and they are more powerful than the characters' standard weapons. Also, stages have what are known as "Death Traps" (aka, stage fatalities), which are red areas in which a stage fatality can be performed. It doesn't say explicitly, yet it sounds as if Death Traps can be used in mid-battle. Other, more minor traps can be present, such as flames and the like. The levels are often huge, taking up multiple levels. An example of one arena was shown in the form of the Netherbelly, which is presumably the interior of the Nethership from MK: Deadly Alliance. This is the arena featuring the swinging corpses, and concept art shows Kenshi being grabbed if he gets too close to a wall with people looking through a window. Each character, according to Boon, will have two or more fatalities, and there are even rumours of "hara kiri" moves, which bring to mind the Suicidality rumours of yore.

Side games? They show that as well. These side games are different from the Test Your Might/Sight of old. The first is a strategy board game akin to chess or Archon, with the kombatants as pieces on a chessboard. Attempting to capture a piece requires the opponents to duke the characters out a la standard arcade mode. The other game, Puzzle Kombat, is similar to Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, where small deformed characters have it out in the middle of a Tetris-style puzzle game.

Due to copyright reasons, we are not able to provide scans of this article. You can find the PSM article in newsstands near you very soon!

Our thanks to Hydro and Dragula21 for the heads-up on the article!

SO BASICALLY EVERY CHARACTERS BACK IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER! and I'm glad there tweeking the combat system...I hope it's more well rounded like soulcaliber. The game looks awesome can't wait:)
