My favorite aspect of Star Wars has always been the lightsaber weilding Jedi, Dark Jedi and Sith. I tend to have the "power struggle" thing where I would like to have Force Users (EU and Trilogy) compared or lined up against others. In my mind the most powerful jedi are:

    1. Luke
    2. Obi Wan
    3. Yoda
    4. Anakin
    5. Sidious/Mace Windu (tie)
    etc
7-8th. somewhere around there I'd like to find my boy Kyle Katarn, he's just bad@$$.

I say Luke is the most powerful because he defeated Vader, and rose to such a powerful level so quickly. I say Obi-Wan is second because he defeated Anakin fair and square, using restraint and calm cool self-discipline. Yoda is third because I just couldn't imagine Anakin/Vader Besting a Yoda in his prime (isn't Yoda supposed to have slain like 4 sith lords and like 17 dark jedi?). 4th I have Anakin because he once defeated Luke and almost did it twice, nearly defeated Obi-Wan, Defeated Count Dooku and Destroyed Sidious. I have Sidious and Mace on the same level because their fight, given whatever preconceptions or conceptions was evenly matched. I think Kyle should be considered one of the most powerful because like Luke he rose to such a prominent power so quickly, even quicker than Luke.

Well, it depends what you mean by powerful. Do you mean power achieved, or potential power?

    1. Anakin/Luke/Anakin

Luke and Anakin are said to have the exact same amount of power. Anakin does not mean Vader here. Anakin lost the duel because he was stupid. That doesn't reflect one's power. He was equly matched with Obi-Wan, so it was hard to say who would win the match, although Anakin appeared to be more tired then Obi-Wan. I say Anakin Solo because i believe that he was infact more powerful then either his uncle or grandfather. he just died too quick to reach his full potential.

    2. Sidious. Plain and simple.

    3. Yoda. He's below Palps because he lost.

    4. Obi-Wan.

    5. Vader. 80% of Palp's power isn't anything to joke about.

Kyle Katarn in the top ten? [face_laugh]

    In terms of raw power:

    1. Anakin Skywalker (he killed Palpatine; he was only defeated by Obi-Wan because he was unfocused; he was only defeated by Luke because he couldn't kill his own son)

    2. Palpatine (he defeated(or at least fought to a draw) Yoda, who is the second most powerful Forceuser known to the Jedi according to TPM)

    3. Luke Skywalker/ possibly Leia Organa Solo (they're twins and the offspring of the Chosen One, for cryin' out loud)

    4. Yoda

    5. Obi-Wan Kenobi (even though Anakin wasn't focused, it doesn't take away from the fact that Obi-Wan nearly killed the Chosen One)

    6. Mace Windu (widely regarded among the OJO as second only to Yoda)

Everyone else is too far behind to be considered.

No no no, this isn't a DBZ poer battle, I'm trying to compare knowledge, experience, chance, luck, all of the things that make Jedi great. I believe Obi-Wan should have mentioned something about Force-luck in the films because he sure had it. Anakin's power came from rage, his fighting style was erratic and powerful. Obi-Wan was very defensive, cautious, one thing I believe that made him great is that he didn't care if he won or lost, he had no pride, he only did what he had to do (IE letting vader kill him). Sidious was very quick and powerful in the force, also very deceptive, he had a silk tongue that could easily decieve, (the whole galaxy for 12 years!). Luke's style was his own, he didn't rely on Force powers much, but more on the physical aspect of the force, letting it guide his lightsaber, his movements, his fighting style was powerful and aggressive. Yoda was extremely quick, very wise ( to a point) and very Force-powerful. I include Katarn in the top 10 because he rose from nothing to become a reasonably powerful Jedi in a matter of days/weeks/months, even more phenomenal than Luke. Also Kyle became wise and cool, much like the older Obi-Wan from ROTS and the OT. I would like people posting to consider every aspect of the Jedi/Sith in this, evry inch. And tell me what you think. I want to know more, I want to learn what others know/think.

I'm surprised at the lack of EU Jedi/Sith mentioned. Kyle and Anakin Solo seem to be the only ones.

What about Exar Kun and Freedon Nadd? Both had the raw power to enslave entire races. Nadd's influence lasted for generations before the Qel-Dromas and their master managed to purify Onderon. Also, he caused twin supernovas using the power of the Dark Side, no small feat.

Since you are talking more about power attained and how they used that power, I feel it's safe to mention Exar Kun. He kept the Masassi enslaved on Yavin IV, used them to build massive structures that strengthened and focused his abilities, and used his power to wage war on the Jedi, and it took most of the OJO to destroy him. Even after that, he managed to hold on to that power for 4000 years.

Revan. He/she managed to lead the Republic to victory (giving him/her a legendary status). Then, he/she stared down a bunch of Jedi Masters (and probably could have beaten them IMO) and was only defeated by Malak firing on the ship. Finally, he/she was re-trained in a matter of days (I think, although we never are told how long, just that it's a very short time) to become a Jedi and take control of/destroy the Star Forge.

Kyle Katarn with Dark Side ending of DF2:JK. He whooped 6 Dark Jedi, took the power of the Valley for himself and became a new Emperor capable of crushing rebellions with ease, something Sidious could never do.

    1. Anakin Skywalker: Duh.
    2. Palpatine/Yoda: A tie here. Both had the same potential, IMO, but Palpatine managed to reach his peak more effectively, albeit more evily (and I know that's not a word ;) )
    3. Luke/Leia: No matter what a certain someone on these boards will say, it's true ;) , and the same reason applies as with Palpatine and Yoda.
    4. Jacen Solo/Anakin Solo: Both were at the top of their game in their own unique understandings, the spirtual and the physical, and as such they both rate the same for me. Still, imagine the potential they could have reached had they both found a way to merge their philosophies...
    5. Mace Windu: total bad-a$$, but only in sheer physical projection of the Force.

Luke is on a totally different level than anybody else. He has his daddy's potential but actually manages to reach it.

This will be expanded upon in the future EU.

At his time, Palpatine was the most powerful.

For those brief moments in TUF when he gave in fully to the Dark Side, Jacen was the strongest.

By the end of the NJO, though, Luke Sykwalker is the most powerful.

This is what I'm talking about good feedback. What about the clone emperor from dark empire? He used the force to create a storm the size of a planet(even though Luke/Leia turned it against him). Was he more powerful in a new body, or had he just reached new levels over 6 years? Also I agree with you about KK. He defeated 6 dark jedi (good/bad side) and brought down an entire imperial outpost alone, I forgot to mention that is one of the reasons I think he is so powerful ( in one sense). What about Joruus C'Baoth, I'm kinda ignorant on his status, yet he seemed like a reasonably powerful Jedi. Rhan, Jerec, Malak, Bastila, other game characters, also Anakin Solo, Jacen and Jaina, hell if you play SWG and have a Jedi tell us about him/her. In my first post I only considered movie characters, but have since expanded my thought. In rethinking my Most powerful list I have created a new one, this is my opinion, so don't yell at me or stuff =(.

    1. Luke Skywalker ( i need not elaborate)
    2. Qui-Gonn Jinn ( I believe he is the first to realize the potential of a living, breathing, spiritual Force, therefore highly manipulated it in the afterlife and became able to materialze himself, NO SMALL FEAT!!)
    3. Kyle Katarn (His exponential rise to Jedi Master, slaying six dark Jedi, bringing down imperial outposts and so forth. Not to mention the amazing transition from dirty smuggler/spy to a calm collective and wisened Jedi Master)
    4. Clone Emperor (I believe his abilities had expanded since ROTJ thus making Sidious more powerful than ever, able to bring the Empire back to near prominence and creating a force strom powerful enough to ravage a world and destroy the largest Starship ever built.
    5. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Still a favorite to me, Obi-Wan pressed through many trials, the heartbreak of losing a son/brother/friend, Defeating Anakin, his presence in eps 5 and 6 where he helped Luke, defeating a Sith Lord single handedly, etc etc.

tell me what you guys think

Kun actually wasn't "alive." He had managed to detach his spirit from his body so as to keep the Jedi from succeding in bringing him down. Only his plan backfired and his spirit was locked away in the Massassi temples for over four thousand years (the Great Sith War took place around 3,996 BBY, so as of the Battle of Endor the events of the Great Sith War would have been four thousand years in the past) before the Jedi Academy was established.

I don't know about the most powerful Jedi when you add personality issues, experience, and injury, but I got this list from the website below. And for the record, I agree with those who say Anakin couldn't kill Luke not because he couldn't, but because he wouldn't. He didn't even start throwing things at him in their final duel like he did in ESB. He suddenly couldn't draw on his hate, his son had finally started to hate him after he taunted him about Leia, and he had no remaining natural limbs at that time. All of those factors worked against him in the duel with Luke--not that Luke isn't powerful in his own right. He just doesn't possess as much natural power as Anakin .

Hmmm...sorry, I'm afraid I'm not an experienced enough online Star Wars fan to know fake sites when I see them. Just trying to be helpful. However, I'm pretty sure that the midichlorian count does tie to the raw power Jedi possess to weld the force pretty closely. It is implied, if not outright stated, in TPM, at least.

That midichlorian count list above is just like the power level lists that Dragon Ball Z fans manage to come up with, even though no characters were assigned PL ratings after the first third of the series or so. In other words, pure speculation.

At least with the DBZ lists there was more to go on since characters fought each other quite often it was easy to say "this person is stronger than that person, who is stronger than this other person".

If not proof, TPM heavily implies that midi count directly correlates to Force power. When Obi-Wan gets Anakin's count, he says that it's "even higher that Master Yoda's!" Throughout the PT, it seems that even the Sith think Yoda is one of the most powerful Jedi, probably second only to Anakin in raw power.
