I've got this crazy idea. What if we had occasional gatherings in which one Milwookiee (or more, depending on how much time we have) brings in one non-Star Wars movie that he or she considers related to Star Wars in any way, large or small, obscure or obvious. We watch it, and then (get this) we discuss it. Cool, eh?

    Whaddya think? :)

    Excellent idea!

I would have a request along those lines - I have yet to see Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I will hold off renting it if I can see it with the group...

Oh yeah - I'm *SO* for this.

J & SB Strike Back, though... maybe I'll skip the first session ;)

sounds like a great idea to me.

also on a related note. there had been some rumblings about having a marathon viewing of all 4 (five if we d/l AOTC online) starwars films. if enough people are interested then we'll start thinking about a date and a place and start a sign up.

    -Mike

Oh how about watching "space balls"

    Joke?

    It was a joke!

    Oh forget it.

I'd like to bring in Brazil. There are some scenes and designs in it that are very similar to some in Star Wars. I also have a copy of The Hidden Fortress that I could bring in. The Seven Samurai would be a good choice too, but I don't have it. Even The Magnificent Seven would fit in. Battle Beyond the Stars, Battlestar Galactica, the list goes on and on...

Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back would be great!

Spaceballs is game. Star Balls, on the other hand...

I would love to participate in this! I'll have to peruse my collection though, and think a bit.

But one film that definitely feels like Star Wars is the Disney version of "The Three Musketeers". It is so chock full o' steals and similarities, it hurts! Chris O'Donnell's D'Artagnan is very Luke-like, and Tim Curry stalks about the screen in a Vader-like attitude (as does the actor playing Rochefort, all in black--I can't remember his name...).

Anyway, it's an awful film but will generate lots of laughs!

But I'll have to rack my brain on others--aside from the obvious ones, there are others out there... Hmmm... ?[face_plain]

And, I'm definitely up for an all-4 marathon, as long as I can embroider while we watch (at this stage, I use every bit of free time I've got!). :D

So, when should we do it, and where..? Should we rotate houses or something like that? Thoughts? Comments?

Sounds good to me. Just make sure this doesn't turn into some sort of "Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon" offshoot.

J & SB Strike Back was classic. I won't say anything to spoil the movie, but I was surprised by a few things...and in a GOOD way! :)

I really like this idea. I can bring my copy of "George Lucas in Love". If you haven't seen this, it's about 15 mintues long and a great fan film. Think "Shakespeare in Love" meets "Star Wars". Great stuff.

I just remembered, I could bring in my DVD of "Thumb Wars." Hilarious!

Also, I have the PBS(?) interview with Bill Moyers and George Lucas if anyone would be willing to sit through something with more of a documentary flavor.

Toy Story 2 has a Star Wars bit in it as well. Zorg is very Vaderish and Star Wars parody ensues. It's only a small bit of the movie though, so I'd suggest it only if we run out of other stuff to watch.

Hmmm. Doesn't LOOK like we're gonna run out of things to watch. The Kevin Smith movies alone could tie up a weekend or two. Oh well. If that's the price we have to pay for being fans, then so be it, jedi.
