I'm sure there is a thread on this topic. I remember seeing one a long time ago. But I cannot find it.

I'm sure everyone has at least one movie question. If not, you're all in denial.

However, here is my question. In The Matrix, why did Neo and Trinity blow up the elevator shaft when they're in the "Agent Building" trying to rescue Morpheus? The scene doesn't bother me, but the last few times I've watched the movie I've really taken notice to the scene, and I don't really see the point of them setting off the bomb.

    They're criminals, that's why.

Now, Rock. Connery gets in jail thru that flaming thing. Opens the door. Lets others in.

Pretty stupid of him to exit the prison thru that same thing, instead of doors.

So, why does Michael Bay gets all these movies to direct?

They didn't want their operation to be foiled by any possible Agents or cops finding their way up it.

I agree. Who cares why? It was an excuse to make cool effects.

I understand why they disconnected from the elevator, but why bother with the bomb? All they had to do what disconnect from the elevator by shooting the cable and they'd be all set.

As I already said, it doesn't bother me, I just always wondered why they did it.

And all to often I hear various people state how Lucas uses his CG effects to show off and to do pointless scenes, then they go on to praise The Matrix for using their effects only when neccissary.

I just want to make it clear that The Matrix is not much better ;)

Have you ever noticed the part when Neo presses the button for the elevator it reads: "Do not use lift if there is a fire."? Now it says "lift" because it was filmed in Australia but that is an error since it takes place somewhere in America. So yeah, I can't wait for Reloaded to come out.
