There are a few movies coming out at the end of the year that I would like to see, and seeing as I will be in Denmark at the time I was wondering...

Are Hollywood films dubbed or are they shown in English with Danish subtitles?

Hey, this ain't Germany, you know! Wedon't need to be fed with a spoon!

Hollywood films are NEVER dubbed in Denmark, unless it's an outright childrens' movie like Stuart Little or the annual Disney release.

So don't worry. When you go to see FOTR in Copenhagen it'll be just like the real thing, if you ignore the subtitles. :)

This is good to hear, I'm trying my best to learn Danish, but I fear it won't be good enough by the time I get there.

LOL! Good luck with learning Danish! I've heard it described as a throat decease by several non-Danes. :)

It sounds as if you have a lot of hot porridge in your mouth.

    Uhm, yes.

Actually I think that Danish is much harder to understand than Norwegian, at least when spoken.

Well, I've heard both and I have to say that Swedish is musical sounding. Of course what do I know, can't speak either very well.

I think Danish sounds cute! [face_love] And unless it's some extreme dialect, just as easy to understand as Norwegian.

"Hey, this ain't Germany, you know! Wedon't need to be fed with a spoon! "

this wasn´t very nice and this stupid meanigless words by "dead star" were totally unnessecary!

You think it´s all our fault, do you?! i never voted or rised me hand that movies are always dubbbed in germany!

just think about what you say! you blame the whole country. you should blame the institutions but not the people, man!

if you have a d&%m problem with germany then say it straight and don´t hide your stupid and childish attitude behind worthless accusations!

i was so many times in your beautiful country. and i see all this nice and friendly people there. the gave a d%&m about my nationality (i never had a opportunity to decide in which country i was born!). so why are there still some people who CAN´T except that germany is not full of idiots...

Whoo-hoo-hoo, let's keep a tight rein on tempers here!
I'm sure no insult to the German people was intended... Just a bit of rash wording.

But I have to go  !!! I thought it was just the French who suffered the fate of eternally dubbed movies...
    You have my sympathies, Yar_Kaii.

Yes, please settle down! I didn't mean it THAT way. It was just to make a point, and because I think it's a little silly that everytime you see an American movie on German television it's dubbed. By the same 5 or 6 actors speaking all of the roles.

It wasn't an attack on Germany or Germans in general, it was a lash out at the anti-Americana attitude (which is much worse in France btw)...

Isn't most movies in Europe, except for the nordic countries, dubbed?

It can't be fun to suffer from poor dubbing, when the alternative is subtitles.

Well, dubbing in South European countries I was aware of... I just didn't realise the flood didn't ebb until the Danish border.
Speaking of awful European dubbings, who can forget the epic tale of suffering SW dubbed to Russian, as told on The Force.net!

    The horror of it!!!!!!!

    it´s okay, folks.

i know how fast you say anything which another person get wrong or see an offense.

but i really can´t fit with these statements by "dead star" like "germany sux"...

    ...

you know, i can´t bear dubbed films any longer... i´d like to see films with subtitles. actually i wouldn´t watch at them anyway, but movies are much more better in the native language.

movies in holland aren´t dubbed too.

Ok ok, I dont want to start a flamewar so let me apolligize to YK. But I did once talk to a german guy on the ICQ who thought dubbing was the best, and that subtitels was horroble! So not everyone in germany are on the "light" side like YK :)

I just cant understand WHY non -scandinavian european contryes dubb ther movies. If they did that here, there would be a civil war.
