Sequelitis is finally catching up with Hollywood though. Since every new movie is a remake or a sequel/prequel, they're gradually having ot reach back farther and farther to find another movie. WIthin the next few years, hopefully they will be FORCED to make slightly original movies since there will be remakes/sequels for every single movie ever made by then.

    According to Dark Horizons:

Title: Mrs. Doubtfire: Bigger, Older, Hairier

The PLOT: Eleven years after donning a body suit and heavy makeup to portray Brittish nanny Mrs. Doubtfire, Williams' must once again dress in drag after his daughter (Selma Blair), a crack whore, is arrested for prostitution. With her three children taken into custody, Williams' pulls Mrs. Doubtfire out of retirement to prove he can raise his three grandchildren on his own. Hillarity ensues when his daughters pimp (Sacha Baron-Cohen) puts Mrs. Doubtfire to work to pay off her debt.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Here is the reported plot...

If it is true they strectched it a whole bunch from the cute movie that was Mrs.Doubtfire

(Selma Blair), a crack whore, is arrested for prostitution

This is the only good thing in that synopsis. I cant believe that this sounded like a good idea to some Hollywood exec. (actually I can but I really try to convince myself that I cant)

With all the good books out there (especially fantasy/sci-fi) I cant believe that a better story cant be found.

This has gotta be a joke. There's no way they can turn this into an amusing family comedy. The only way you can have a crack whore and a pimp is to be a VERY edgy comedy. I mean, I know Mrs. Doubtfire was kind of edgy, but I think that this just can't be funny...

I feel like I want to be that network guy in Family Guy who screams at all the other network people to come up with original ideas, but instead gets beats down. I can see no good coming from this.

No more sequels with 20 yr waits. I know MD was no 20 yr, but that's like giving Gladiator a sequel (shudders) or The Day After Tomorrow. Box office Bomb in the works.

This news disturbs and frightens me. I must now gouge my eyes out with a red-hot tuning fork and say ten hail mary's to atone for the sin of having even read about the possibility of a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire. This is clearly the seventh sign of the apocalypse. Repent, and ye shall be saved!

And come on, guys. That plot summary is clearly a joke. Rest assured however, the actual plot will most likely be just as ridiculous, but it will be a more family friendly kind of ridiculous.

...meh, i didn't think the first Mrs. Doubtfire was particularly good..(and i'm normally a fairly avid Robin Williams fan)..

Maybe Pierce Brosnan needed the work, what with no more Bond for him to do...? (I've heard he's also doing a sequel to the Thomas Crown Affair)

    >> Maybe Pierce Brosnan needed the work, what with no more Bond for him to do...? (I've heard he's also doing a sequel to the Thomas Crown Affair)<<

However, the TCA was a fairly tight little movie and at least lends it's formula better to the possbility of a sequel than Mrs. Doubtfire.

if anyone, it would be Robin Williams that needs the comeback. but even then, if he retakes this role, he must be pretty desperate.

i think pierce brosnan can appear in okay movies for a bit longer without worrying about needing to do crappy films like Mrs. Doubtfire 2

I don't know, he seems to be enjoying himself doing the lesser known dramatic films. I think he's enjoying his stint as a bad guy.

    That can't be serious.

On the other hand, Williams hasn't had a hit in awhile and houses don't pay for themselves. :p

...but that plot is ridiculous. It sounds too stupid to be real. But who knows?
