MTV's True Life: My Dad was a Star Wars Geek!

Hey, anybody else watching MTV's "True Life" right now with the teenage boy embarassed by his SW fan dad. The boy is totally not into SW.

Poor guy! His dad shows ALL of his friends and dates his SW collection (which takes up at least one whole room)!

I don't know if I should be afraid or not that his dad reminds me of people I know (including myself).

 

That guy's dad is my hero!!!

Oh goodness! The dad actually tried to convert his son by taking him to Celebration II!

To think that some poor, unlucky SW fan could have had those tickets...

Looks like the son has been converted to the Dark Side! Looks like he really likes the stormtrooper costumes. He even got into one of the 501st's uniforms and walked around the con with his dad.

Poor dad, he really wanted him to be a Jedi like his pops.

 

My dad is awesome, but damn, I wish he was like that.

Haha, I agree JediJeffro. No one in my family is as into SW as I am.

 

I'm just glad that I've got sisters just as crazy about SW as I am. My parents are average viewers who are supportive of our addiction.

 

You're lucky, Maul_Fly. My family is pretty good about SW, but all my friends are pathetic when it comes to SW. They're still don't understand why Harrison Ford can't be in the prequels.

We don't have many friends that are into SW. (Though one of my youngest sister's missions seems to be to inform, and where possible convert, her friends about SW) I suppose we could change that if we hooked up with the local FF chapter.

Our cousins, though, are almost as much into SW as we are.

 

My friend and I were debating which parent was the one I would most like to have. Now obviously I'm biased, but the Star Wars one had to be the least embarrasing right? At least he wasn't hitting his kid like the Plain White Rapper or walking around nude.

 

Unbelievably, no one I know, other than my 9 year old cousin, is freakishly into Star Wars (more than I am). At his little league games, he actually pretends his baseball bat is a lightsaber. I'm so proud.

Yeah, out of all of the parents shown on this episode, the SW dad would have been the least damaging socially.

He and his son seemed to even come to an understanding by the end of the show, which was probably more than what the others could say.

Though the son might have started to convert when he saw how his dad's Jedi outfit was a babe magnet!

 

You're right, Maulfly. If I saw a young guy walking around in Jedi Robes, I'd start flirting with him.

But that kid did have it easy. Have a SW parent is better than having a parent who believes in nude karoke and nude limbo. Imagine having friends over.

 

My Dad was in Star Wars, not as much as that bloke though. He brought up my brother and I on a solid education of Star Wars movies.

Now that job has passed to me to teach my daughter.

 

I try not to watch MTV much anymore. It's kinda weird, a music video station that doesn't play music videos.

 

Yeah, I never watch mtv anymore either, but I flipped there tonight becuase I thoguht this might have been the Movie Awards night in which case Hayden, Natalie, and Yoda would be on. But instead True Life was on and I saw the crazy SW guy.

Yeah, that guy kicked ass. I'm glad my dad's not like that, though, or I would probably hate Star Wars.

Damn, that kid who lost the election was such a whiney little b**ch. His dad was bad, but he wasn't any better.

 

Next week on MTV's True Life: The story of a cable channel that used to be relevant, now it's only interested in JaRule videos and watching teenagers come close to having sex.

 

I feel sorry for the dad having a son like that. If I had a dad like that, that would be awsome.

I love my Dad but it'd be cool if he loved SW.

However, my Dad is still trying to remember that Anakin doesn't grow up into Luke, Obi doesn't grow up into Han, Padme doesn't grow up into Leia, Darth Maul doesn't become Vader and Qui-Gon is not Obi-Wan (Ben) at a younger age.

I'm working on it ok? In time he will learn who is who.
