I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first. But after the angle they were gonna take came out (a superhero version of Big) and the casting news started landing I was like "Yeah that should work pretty good ... oh, nice call ... great get ... yes, yes definitely feelin' it ... ok, you got me". It just started feeling like the right movie at the right time for DC (though Aquaman may end up stealing that distinction). When the first trailer dropped I was pleased and not at all surprised. I think this one is gonna be pretty good.
One of my all-time favorite characters. My love began with the cheesy Saturday Morning tv show where Billy Batson was driving around in an RV with some old guy. I have to say my excitement for this is almost tied with Avengers: Endgame.
That's how I was introduced to him also. And I've never read a single Captain Marvel/Shazam comic book. So there's gonna be quit a chasm being spanned by this movie.
Since some of the casting news has slipped by seemingly unnoticed here (at least I don't remember it having come up) I'll tag this. Hasn't appeared in any of the trailers yet, and probably won't to be honest, but ... Spoiler
As I posted previously in the main DC thread, I'm looking forward to this film. I like the Big (Tom Hanks movie) feels of Shazam! Which gives the film the light and humorous tones it needs to capture the right essence and spirit of the character that will differentiate itself from Superman, well at least from the Snyder-verse Superman. Additionally, Shazam! is a good follow up film to ride the coat tails of Aquaman's box office success.
Funko POP line for the movie. Would be considered spoilery, depending on how closely and for how long you've been following the production news: And a new Empire pic:
Same spot as above but Sanberg's remark is worth the repeat. It's an answer to all the flack he's been getting from DC fans over the lack of a new full trailer. And then he served up this:
I agree. Mods, please update thread title to reflect newest trailer music - Eminem's "My Name Is". Also, if you can change the tag from JCC to Amph that would be cool too.
Eminem is a great suggestion. I'm not particularly attached to the title. If I remember correctly I was finishing off a six-pack when I started the thread.
