I've recently installed Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, the companion missions to Jedi Knight, which I love to play. I have finally made it to level 3. I found the first 2 levels to be more challenging than Jedi Knight, but then again, my first few times through JK, I had a strategy guide.

I origionally started this thread to ask for help with the end of level 2, but between myself and a friend, we figured it out...finally.

Anyone else enjoy this game? I know I could use some tips for the other levels. Perhaps I'm not alone here?

I liked it when it was released. Now, not so much, due to the oldness.

I liked it until I got to the final battle. That irritated the hell out of me.

I've managed to get stuck on level 3 already. Any tips would be nice. A walkthrough would be great. :)

    Greetings, blokes.

Good game, though the last few levels are really irritating, for reasons I will divulge below...

    ***potential spoilers***

I hate the last few missions where they strip you of your regular weapons and you're forced to rely on your force abilities and lightsaber in a swamp full of ysalamiri. Frustrating. Especially when you don't allot your force points very intelligently.

I especially despise the fight between you and "Dark Mara." I had a real tough time with this because of the way I had allotted my force power points. I was stuck there for an ungodly period of time.

What I ended up doing to beat her was kind of funny actually... I'd bat at her a few times with my saber, zap her with lightning (just to do a little bit of damage) and then go diving underwater in that deep pool that's nearby. She'd follow. I'd then swim up and down like maniac in order to both confuse her and keep her under the water. When I started drowning, and was right about to die, I'd use a healthpack or two to get me to full power. Then I'd keep swimming, keep drowning, and then heal pack to normal again. In the meanwhile, "Dark Mara" should also be starting to drown at this point. (Without the benefit of heal packs, though.) So, basically, I'd just keep treading water until she drowned before I did.

    Cheesy, but effective.

    Drowns his enemies,
    Yours Truly

I liked the game when it came out, but the in-game cinematics look awful now. The ending was alright and a suprise but too short. :(

I like you ben, because that's a stroke of Genius.

It was a most enjoyable Add-On, although, it went downhill shortly after the Rancor incident.

The 60 second escape sequence is absolutely corking. It really tought me that Quick Saving is the path to enlightenment.

SoloCommand... Thank you, sir. I aim to please... :)

After all this discussion on these old school games, I might have to blow the dust off of some of these and take them for a spin once more. See how they hold up... Heck, maybe I should go through and play the entire series through again. It's been long enough that I've forgotten how to play them all. It'd be like playing a brand new game!

Pulls out lightsaber and slashes erstwhile stormtrooper,

Between me and a friend working on the same game, we never got past that rancor. Though I did have fun killing those Gamorians. [face_devil]

hey, the_chosen_two, those 'walkthroughs' didn't help. They have a lot of info, but not exactly what I need. Thanks anyway.

Umm, can you describe where / why you're stuck? Do you need a key, or are you trapped in a dead end, or do you just keep getting killed?

This is the level inside the meteor??? Is it not a point where you have to use the force like pulling a switch or .... wait a minute... you are I think trying get rid of the cameras. I've played this game TWICE and TWICE I was stuck here not remembering how to get past this point from the first time!! I can't remember now! Maybe you use force persuasion somewhere like you do in the swamp later on?

You are going to think I'm such a baby or something. Over the weekend, I figured it out, after dying several times. I got to the point were I'm playing Mara Jade trying to get in to the Hutt.

I suppose I should try harder before asking for help like that.

But, one thing I will say about those asteroid levels is AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

The slow motion cheat code was a great help, though. :)

The asteroid was a cake walk... wait until you get to the Sith Temple!!!

You might want to consider saving some force points for lightning or destruction or something when faced with those wolves that getcha. Otherwise force pull is my favourite.

I never claimed to be a gamer. And at least I don't go around with invincibility on. At least, not with the non-cheat games. The 'REAL' game, I usually don't use the codes.

    There's a Sith temple?

The doggies are easy. Stay high / far away and kill them effortlessly with 'Saber Throw'.

I'll have to remember that tip when I get there. I'm now trying to figure out that Hutt's palace. How many different aliens can a crime boss hire? (hypothetical question) I like the tusken clothing disquise though. Makes me feel less...feminine.

For some reason, MotS scares the crap outta me. It's not that I *couldn't* beat it without cheat codes, it's that I would have a heart attack doing it. I thought it was merely because I am a weak gamer. Not so. I played through the entire of JO the first time around without so much as one cheat code, and finished it in two weeks.

But there is something just...evil about MotS. I dunno why I think that, but I've tried going without invincibility, and I get the willies, especially in the Sith swamp parts of it. That's just me, though.

The MP is awesome, preferably to JK MP I believe. Anyone wanna play it sometime?

jp-30: Saber Throw, great tip. I never would develop this with Mara because I always found it a bit pointless, but obviously when you're in the temple you wont be firing any rockets. Those wolves would kill me time and time again. I'd get kind of used to Mara's death cry followed by a familiar growling sound.

Yeah, there are heaps of pillars and ledges you can force jump to, out of the Vornskr's range. 3 or 4 saber throws normally kills the beasts if I recall correctly. Likewise staying beyond their 'trigger' range on the flat is OK as the saber throw distance is a little further than their detection range.

    :)
