    The pattern I'm useing is a Burda one for a Casanova/Pirate, 2459.

The pattern needs a few adjustments but I think it's pretty close.

My question is, does the outfit have a slit up the back to the waist? I know that is has a slit up each side (I think so anyway, it's on various pictures of the actions figures I've seen, though I've seen nothing yae or nay from the movies), but I don't know about the back.

Could someone double check this for me? The movie is currently with a relative at college, otherwise I'd check myself.

Also, what would you suggest to do for the wrist guards? Paper mache would not give off the smooth finish, but it would be the most inexpensive. Meanwhile a plastic form would be very expensive but look good. Or maybe Sculpey? Any suggestions?

    Thank you :)

For the wrists, I would personally go with vacuum formed plastic..

This is a costume I've always wanted, but if I did it I would want a dead on accurate one, and that would be way too expensive :(

    Hey,

    that is a thread I like :D

Great Idea for a costume, and too cool that the Naboo military is growing in ranks ;)

The thread I opened up about the Naboo Military

    http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=15638353&start=17900332

Here is a fan made costume

    http://tk7602.com/gallery/albums/dcon2004/swcostumes/normal_IMG_2447.JPG

The gauntlets are always the same, whether it is Captain panaka, security guard, captain Typho pilot or Captain Typho standard uniform. Even Padme pilot has the same gauntlets, but you will notice that they are cut down in comparison to the male version, I assume because of her much slender arms ;) .

And here you can find a very small tutorial I put together on making the gauntlets out of sintra and cable tubing, with some pics added in the thread later on.

    http://p082.ezboard.com/fpropreplicasfrm4.showMessage?topicID=744.topic

They are very sturdy, and very cheap to make, all in all about 20$ at the max. But I messed up in painting them, because I took an electrical wire and cut it up, so only the outer shell could be glued onto the sintra, as those detailing stripes. Didn´t mix well with spray paint, the surface still is sticky :\ .

Anyway, hope this helps a little.

I think that the undercoat is not as complicated as the pirates coat. I believe that the lower part is more like a "skirt", the geometry being like a sheet of paper that you take and twist into a "frustrum" (truncated cone ?).

    Post progress pics !!!

    @Stranded in Space

I am always surprised where pics like that one show up, since I have researched those costumes to quite some extent. I´d appreciate it if you´d have some other not so often seen stuff ;)
