Seriously, how awesome are the Naboo Starfighters? Their design is just so sleek and beautiful. I only wished they got more air time in the prequels or even in the Clone Wars series. What do you guys think about them? Anyone else here love them as much as I do?
They are beautiful and show that even a (to that point) 22 year old franchise can bring fantastic and creative things and expand upon its lore . How times change (Sorry for the obvious mocking of a certain money bringing blockbuster and its owners)
The best ship design in the whole series. Like I've said before, while from a thematic perspective I think it works that Anakin didn't have one ship throughout the trilogy that was consistently his, the design is so great I also wish it could've stuck around. Design and art-wise, TPM as a whole amazes me to this day.
I always loved the Naboo starfighters. My favorite vehicle design from the prequels, followed by the AotC Jedi starfighters.
How awesome? Very awesome. I get your meaning. And you're not wrong. Quite. But I think their being blown off the landing platform during the explosion at the start of AOTC says something. Indeed. If that is what the George Lucas of 1995-1999 could do (given twenty years), I really wonder, had he continued, what kind of sequel trilogy we'd be getting just now?
The Naboo Starfighter is my favorite ship in th Saga as well! The yellow with the silver is so visually appealing, and the design is spot on. 100% Personally I find it hard to say anything negative about TPM, simply because I have so much respect for the aesthetics of the film. The locations, architecture, costumes, etc. It honestly is a big reason I can watch it over and over. There's always something new to see and has dated exceptionally well as far as I'm concerned.
My second favorite starfighter design. So elegant, sleek and (mostly) shiny! They definitely are a nice addition to Star Wars.
Next to the Republic gunship definitely one of my favorite PT designs. Carries nice allusions to some of the 1930's unorthodox plane designs. Just didn't like the rationalization how an R2 unit got inside (dome somewhat dislocated from the main body).
great ship design. the naboo have good taste makes me think of a vintage car or wwii era fighter this is the ship you want to keep immaculate in the old barn out back and take out for flying on sunny days had a visual encyclopedia with this picture at one point in time
It's not just the Naboo fighter, other pieces in TPM give a retro-future vibe too... A Lucrehulk carrier: A Gungan submarine city:
One of the better vehicle designs of the PT. No surprise, as it comes from the best-looking film of the PT, the visuals of which were dominated by the true heir to Ralph McQuarrie, Doug Chiang. Agreed . Though I have issues with the plot and characters, it's mostly a wonderful-looking film. Only Otoh Gunga, and the ground battle, strike a slightly false note for me. This is partly why it's the only prequel film I've watched many times.
