I've already changed the monster design somewhat (for the upcoming StageFrightz film) since it somewhat physically resembles an Episode III spoiler character... who knew? I actually designed a character that looks like a character in an upcoming big-budget movie!!! Me!!!

So, I shouldn't use it... It's been changed and all. That's behind me...

THEN, I come across something the other day, on the back of a comic (an ad) that uses a name (not in the same context as the "beast" in the StageFrightz film), that is similar enough that I want to change the name...

The script will remain the same (except for 1 line explaining why the thing is called by that original name, as well as anytime the current name is used). I just need to think of a really groovy name for the "monster" in the film. I had chosen the original name because it had an archaic usage that would fit with the old legends of the thing in the story.

Anyone know something really groovy that has not been used?

I'll probably think of something soon... still, any suggestions???

By the by, the name I wanted to use for the script I'm currently writing (yes, I'm writing another) is the name of an old film that is totally unrelated...
I'll modify that, as well.. just in case...

mixed my name with Yaddle's huh?

most of the responses above - while groovy - sound a wee too much like lawsuit fodder...

    I'll check around for ACK...

(and Eddie-Wan, Private Wonderful sounds kind of XXX - I'll have to save that for a porno..)

I had to go to a meeting tonight... on the way to my destination, I thought "hey, it's OK, although I'm using that name for the 'monster' and the first part of the name has been used elsewhere, it's the combination of the name that counts, and it's used differently..."

So, I'm going to keep "The Barrows Man" as the name of the "creature."

Thanks for the help, by the by. It influenced me to stick to the original plan... (and I don't mean that in a negative way...)

In the script, some characters are confused when another (Hawthor) mentions "The Barrows Man." Then one of the characters (Riff) remembers that the oldest stories about the thing DID call it The Barrows Man. They just know it as a more modern name, after years of storytelling had mixed it with another legend.

Barrows: (one of the definitions) is a mound of dirt or rocks piled up on a grave. (check it on dictionary.com)

It just sounded like a good "old" name for a creature, since the thing would have been named long before the "sci-fi" names for beasts in the early to mid- 20th century (like Zog and Zag and Scarnox, for make-believe examples, or Groot for a real example) would have come into being..

But there is more to the thing than the legend would imply. It's the power behind it that is the true fear.
A gun pointed at your head would mean nothing if there was nothing to pull the trigger, right? Same kind of thing here.

Next meeting, all will be revealed... let me rephrase that.... all with the movie will be revealed... (whew!)

*** By the by, I should have the "Cartoon" script (Another Hitch-hiker) available as well. And I HOPE to have the current script I'm writing ready, too...)
