Now that just about everyone in our membership has seen Episode II at least once, let's make plans for our next NAD event.

The Annual Nashville After Darth Summer Cookout. Several people have suggested this and I think it's a great idea. This will just be an informal gathering of Nashville After Darth Members who want to just hang out and have a good time grilling out, socializing and enjoying a summer day (hopefully free of rain). I was thinking we could have it someplace like Percy Warner Park on a Saturday afternoon sometime either in June or July.

I think it might work best if we ALL volunteer to bring things like hamburgers, hotdogs, sodas etc...

We'll start a sign up list here pretty soon, once we get a date finalized.

Let's start discussing when & where. Any suggestions?

When someone mentioned Percy Warner park earlier, my mind translated it into Percy Priest Lake. Oh, well. A park, a lake, guess it really doesn't matter.

    Perhaps Centennial park would work.

I dont know where any of those places are but I am sure any of them would be fine.

My wife and I will be in just as long as there is no sort of work schedule conflict.

Maybe we could have another Trivial Pursuit tournament.

June would be great for me, since I'll have every Saturday off (but only for that month).

I believe it runs off of Granny White Pike in West Nashville.

    Hey ,
percy warner park is south west of nashville.
from downtown nashville take "west end" south out of town and its about 15-20min ride out.its the biggest park in nashville and has alot of areas to get together. It will be necessary for someone near there to scope it out and list some specific spots within the park in which to meet.It doesnt have a big primary area but lots of little ones.It will be necessary for specific instructions on how to get into the park and where to meet as there are so many ways to get into the park.
Also, there is not a lake area there for jet skis.I would compare areas of percy warner to the smoky mountains actually. There is one part where youll swear your in gatlinburg.

well, if you're all looking for a nice area where you can water ski, then the land between the lakes is really nice.

it has 2 lakes (so it's not just a clever name?) that are perfect for jet-skiing. it also has a lot of places for camping, fishing, campfires, etc. there's no swings or volleyball pits that i know of, but it is a cool place to hang out.

it's about 1 1/2 hours northwest of nashville off of I-24

Percy Warner Park is good (and close) for me. I could do a Saturday, but I have to be at work around 2:00. Sundays are better for me.

How does Saturday, June 22nd or Sunday June 23rd sound for the NAD cookout at Percy or Edwin warner Park?

In regards to food, each person can bring whatever meat it is that they want grill out, be it steak, hamburger, chicken etc... Then some can volunteer to bring inexpensive things like paper plates, plastic wear, potato chips, condiments, sodas etc...

    Does this sound agreeable?

Far as I know, either day would work for me.

Methinks we might want to start a list of who's bringing what, so we don't get 12 packs of paper plates and no cheetos.

Either day is good for me and my wife. But dont ya think the parks would be crouded on Fathers Day?

I trust where ever it is there will be directions. I dont know where either of those parks are.

As for what to bring... I love to bake so does anyone want cookies and cake?

Fathers Day is on the 16th. This is the following weekend. Let's tentatively plan on Sunday the 23rd at about 1:30 p.m. to give people a chance to go home and change from their Church wear.

Not so fast. Warner Parks cookout areas are reserved at a cost of $25 day. I put a call into central reservations and it sounds like that weekend is full-but they are double checking. There are a few areas that are first come-first served, but those go very fast and will likely be gone by 1pm. Whats the backup plan?

my house... just kidding! i only have a small apartment... :)
I am not familier with the area, but I am sure with all the lakes and stuff around here there has to be a park where there is a place for us all to get together!

That Sunday will work for me and my fam. If we can't get a place at the Percy Warner Park, then pick a place where I can bring my jet ski. I can probably get a couple of friends to bring theirs also.
