    Hey all,

I figure this forum is filled with the only people who would truly appreciate this. I live in Washington DC, and last night on the lawn of the Capitol building, the National Symphony Orchestra was playing a free concert before they began their season at the Kennedy center.

To be honest, I was going because of my girlfriend who loves the symphony (score some points, you know), but then, toward the end of the last set, the conductor said they were going to do a tribute to John Williams. My jaw dropped. They then went immediately into the Imperial March (my favorite SW tune of all). Now, I have all the CDs and have listened to this tune thousands of times, but hearing it live by the nation's best orchestra was indescribable. I swear, I had goosebumps the entire time. If I had a toy lightsaber in my hands, I probably would have jumped up and started swinging it around.

They then went and played the main themes to Harry Potter and ET, which were also amazing. It was an incredible event, so I highly recommend that if any of you have the opportunity to hear any live orchestra play Star Wars music (even one song), absolutely do it!

    Sounds awesome.

I'll never forget the concert at Celebration II - one of the best SW-related moments of my life. :D

Erich Kunzel does a kids concert once a year. they play alot of star wars stuff then too. they play all kinds of stuff, but all of cincinnati brings there kids, so its just packed at the seams, so i have to have lawn seats. i dont get to hear mush besides the big loud parts. too bad. :(

I was lucky enough to attend a concert by JW and the LSO in Birmingham a few years back. They played all his best stuff, including The Throne Room, and The Raiders March as an encore. You CANNOT beat a live performance of an orchestral work. I started crying about 10 minutes into the concert, and my face wasn't dry until about an hour afterwards.

This is not just for JW. If you get the chance to go to a decent orchestra playing even one piece that you know, then GO!
