    Hello there!

As we're all well aware of, one of Star Wars biggest strengths is the interpretation of pre existing cultural imagery and archetypal storytelling. It's a familiar tale on an unfamiliar setting with one of the best designs ever put on film. It's an instant classic because of this. Feel free to google this and you'll be amazed at how Lucas borrowed from everywhere to create this unique universe. This is probably the main reason why I love Star Wars.

One of this references is the obvious "The Galactic Empire is the Nazi Regime". It's obvious, from their intentions and oppressive military techniques, to their look. In The Force Awakens they even took it a step further in regards of imagery:

Alright, First order are the nazis, ok cool, big news. I know it's been pretty darn obvious since 1977

BUT, I watched TFA again on a plane saturday night and my mind was mildly blown when I noticed how Solo's demised may have a visual nod to the Hebrew community, as victims of the nazis.

I used the always trusty MS Paint to enhance what I believe is the Star of David, Judaism's prime symbol, on one of the movie's most crucial moments. Here it is:

If you see it in a more compact format, it becomes more apparent:

Visually and thematically it makes perfect sense. It may be hidden in plain sight even. Without official acknowledgement I guess we'll never know for sure, but still it's worth the analysis.

What do you gals and guys think?

FO are space nazis, this is clear. The other part of your theory is just overthinking. Also, do not "enhance" images.

Why not? It's just a helpful way of interpreting it, it's a tool. That's why I put the original in there as well.

I don't think it's overthinking at all. Analyzing movies, specially visual movies such as TFA, is part of the fun now that it's out on BR.

Also, film directors use iconography, imagery and hidden nods everywhere in their work. It's a huge part of their training as well. The nazi imagery's there, Abrams is a jew, etc. If that's overthinking, then I'm a huge "overthinker".

Do you think "The Shining" is just a horror movie set in an isolated hotel?

The Nazi imagery with the Empire and First Order has been there since the beginning. Kylo's helmet, when you remove the face piece looks essentially like a WWII German Army helmet. The Resistance in these films really look like they borrow heavily from WWII Soviets and partisans with that rag tag look containing a lot of Earth colors: brown, green, beige, etc.

The Star of David idea is an enormous reach.

And Harrison Ford is part Jewish. It's all making sense now.

10 out of 10 for the notion, but yes I'd agree with the others that it's a bit of a stretch. The Nazi symbolism is a given, and goes back to the OT... but in terms of Judaism symbology, I think you'd have to present more examples to make a case. There's obviously the cruciform lightsabre... but I think that's more in reference to medieval symbolism than anything else.

Just texted wit my buddy JJ and he confirmed it!

Nah, I've actually received the same response from a couple of friends hahaha It made sense and seriously when I watched it on the plane it looked crystal clear, and as a reference device it does make sense.

I guess I was overthinking a bit, I take your point, fellas. Thanks for the feedback.

Mods, please feel free to shut this thread down.
