It's a long wait but the results will probably be disappointing. Hopefully not The Electric State disappointing or season one of HotD disappointing. But let's settle in and prepare to be disappointed. Greta Gerwig is doing Narnia so that's interesting possibly. Meanwhile Andor vs Last of Us season 2 is not disappointing. So that's a benchmark against which we can measure all future streaming faceoffs.
If Greta Gerwig turns the white witch into a misunderstood tragic figure I’ll be satisfied. I’d love to see it start with her backstory filled out with The Magician’s Nephew. That’s what the fans want. The real fans anyway.
I just hope they gender swap Aslan and JK inserts some anti-trans stuff so the two shows can face off as proxies for different sides of the culture war.
Harry Potter awakens to loud noises echoing through the dorms. There is a knock at his door. Begrudgingly he drags himself out of bed to see who is bothering him at this hour. It’s Dobby, looking rather grim. He asks what the house elf is doing here in the middle of the night. Dobby says. “Dobby is a free elf.” Harry begins to ask what that has to do with anything when Dobby finishes. “Because all elves are free elves.”. It is at this point that Harry realizes that Dobby isn’t alone. There are several other house elves with him fiddling with a length of rope. Harry sees a staff member being dragged through the hallways. “Are you with us Mr. Potter?” Dobby asks. “Hell yeah.” Harry replies.
I’m only interested if C.S. Lewis breaks into the movie like death in Puss in Boots to scream “The Lion is Jesus, and I don’t mean it metaphorically or rhetorically or poetically, the Lion is Jesus straight up!”.
It is difficult to think about how much richer Rowling will be when this HBO thing is over. Maybe it will giver her a permanent writer’s block like GRRM except it will extend to social media.
If Edmund Pevensie gets a musical number called "I'm Just Ed" and he's wearing a shirt that says "Pevenough" while eating Turkish delights, then it'll all be worth it.
Careful what you wish for… For the record, I don’t mind that aslan is a chick now. And as far as which product will be better; at least narnia isn’t adapting a story that’s already been adapted…
