In the EU, one can block the Force by having Ysalamiri in the neighbourhood. The TOTJ comics, on the other hand, established a Jedi could use the Force to rip off the Force of another Force User (Sunrider used it on Qel-Droma). Do you think there still is a future for Force neutralizers? Is it a theme that still could be explored? For some reason, I always wanted to read about an scientist (Lord Blackhole?) who develops a sort of liquid that neutralizes the Force by injecting it into the bodies of Force users. Thoughts!
maybe a virus that targets midichlorians or receptor antagonist for a neural pathway involved in force use
Really wanted the Force-strip technique attempted on Caedus, just to see if there was an exotic counter to it, alas, it didn't happen as the writers didn't seem to know of the techique!
In Drew Karpyshyn's works the force can be neutralized by sedatives. It doesn't work in combat, but as a means of keeping a Force user imprisoned. It was used successfully against both Revan and Bane.
Heh. Or just enough soldiers firing at the Jedi simultaneously from different angles- as per Order 66, when we see Mundi and Secura die.
The Rakata seem to have fallen victim to a plague (bioweapon?) that robbed them of their Force Powers. Vergere used a Force technique against Jacen that (seemed) to strip him of his, at least temporarily. Something was said somewhere about frequent random electric shocks disrupting a Jedi's connection to the Force (Luke, reporting something Yoda had told him).
No. Ysalamiri and so on are just a cheap storytelling tool to remedy the damage that was brought by making force users too powerful in general. Sorta like Kryptonite for Superman. If TPTB started toning down force use ridiculousness (Kajin in CN springs to mind), there would be no need for that kind of thing. I just read a story in SW tales in which a non-force user challenges Vader and does quite a bit of damage ... and it was awesome. Intense, interesting and realistic.
Especially untrained Force use ridiculousness ( which happens to be a factor in each of the last four books I've read, including the one you alluded to ).
I always wanted to know how Vergere was able to strip Jacen of his Force sensitivity for such an extended span of time. It wasn't like it was a few hours, like most of the other instances - it was weeks, or months, as I recall.
When all else fails, use overwhelming force. Try blocking turbolasers from orbit, you dirty space hobo.
I thought Vergere was using the art of the small on Jacen to temporarily take the force from him, but sever force works just as well.
Only some of them. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Deck_Sweeper_stun_blaster As if every Force User could do that.
