Grammy Award winners YES, one of the most influential and ground-breaking progressive rock `n' roll bands are back with their first all original new album in 10 years. As a dominant force for more than four decades, YES has sold more than 33 million albums worldwide. Their symphonic use of sound and innovative musical style has made each of the group's players virtuosos in their own right.

"Fly From Here" encompasses YES' signature brand of mysticism and grand-scale compositions. Maintaining a complex, symphonic sound that features the beautiful harmonies and strong heavy riffs they are known for. "Fly From Here" sees YES teaming up again with legendary, 2-time Grammy Award winning producer, Trevor Horn (Buggles, Tina Turner, Pet Shop Boys, Paul MCCartney, Simple Minds etc). Horn also collaborated with the songwriting and brought in the sessions his former Buggles and Yes partner Geoff Downes (of Asia) on keyboards, thus recreating the creative environment of the "Drama" album.

Anybody heard this yet? What do you think?

The prog fans are saying don't bother, and the reviews I've seen are... less than encouraging. Think I'll just continue pretending their last album was ABWH.

As a progressive rock fan I have always been... unimpressed by Yes. So that a new album would come out from such a weathered band makes me surprised, but hardly excited.

Pink Floyd remains the pinnacle of that genre, probably because they concentrated on emotions before intellect. If you want a great prog rock band, that's the way it should work.

I love classic Yes -- "Heart of the Sunrise" is one of the most gorgeous compositions in any musical genre -- but I've not yet heard the new stuff.

imo, they haven't done anything worthwhile since going for the one. they are all really talented guys and i love them, but the magic is long gone.

I was at a Yes concert many many many years ago. They didn't do much for me as a band back then either, but tickets were a lot cheaper.

That's all good and well, folks, but... the sheer drama!!

The singer gets sidelined because he's recovering in the hospital from acute respitory failure. A YouTube coverband artist gets hired instead. And just look at how he treated the aforementioned classic 'Heart Of The Sunrise' this week (around the nine minute mark)...

And the keyboardist got replaced. By the producer. This is the new (old) keyboardist on his tour blog:

I'll be avoiding it. Never was a big fan of Yes. Early Genesis w/ Gabriel is better prog rock IMO. Today there are some great prog bands like Porcupine Tree, The Disco Biscuits, and Lotus.
