I don't know if this has been asked yet or not, but I heard from a friend that Lucasarts was thinking about resurrecting another Jedi Knight game for the next-gen consoles, even after they said JA was the last one. Any truth in that? Are they actually going to continue the JK franchise?

(I check the Game Index thread, and there doesn't seem to be a mention of this...)

Probably just part of the vapourware 'lightsaber game for Wii' rumours.

When Georgie learns the amount of cash he can milk out of Star Wars on Wii, he will succumb to temptation

Meanwhile, check out . It's as next gen as it gets right now on the PC. I'd also recommend Movie Battles II which has a similar saber system to OJP, but less complex and focuses more on team battles. These are the 2 best mods (imho) for JK3 at the moment

if it would be a jedi knight game then it would not continue the original jedi knight storyline, because I've seen concept art from the new starwars game and it shows us jedi, darth vader and clone troopso_O
I don't think they are ever going to continue the jedi knight series because they have got two far better time periods already to make lightsaber games, like the clone wars and the purge of the jedi.

Personally I like the KotOR era the best for a lightsaber game on the Wii. In the clone wars and purge it would mostly just be slicing and dicing clones or droids with a few sacer battles. But in the KotOr era you could have tons of lightsaber battles which would also make it easier to progress in hardness.

a Jedi Knight game would most likley have Kyle in it though so a pre-Ep.IV game seems unlikly. Maybe a game based in the Vong war. I'd love to hack some of them up.

what about the darkside ending for JA? It has to continue i mean it was left completly open for another game.(say you being kyle this time looking for the darklord jaden, and again you choose light(meaning you kill jaden at the end) or you join jaden if darkside.

Even though it holds the Jedi Knight na,me, i don't consider it a TRUE Jedi Knight game. it was a half-but attempt at a RPG type game based around Jedi Knight series. I couldn't play the game without thinking, "I WANNA PLAY AS KYLE!!!"

I agree, I think there should be another game where you play as Kyle. Jedi Academy just kind of seemed like an expansion pack for Outcast. I think the title deserves one more run.

I agree, JKA had nice effects and some good moves, but there are a few things that players must either agree or disagree with: the combat system and the story

I think we know what's going on with the combat system, so I'll leave that out here. The story...well it's not bad, but it's not amazing either. Like what the above poster said, I really can't imagine this to be a Jedi Knight game without Kyle as the main character. IMHO Jedi Academy is unworthy of the "Jedi Knight" title in its name. You don't feel a sense of attachment with Jaden. If anything, I feel more like a pawn, the whipping boy of Jedi Masters. I mean I'm a student for gosh sakes. Stop sending me on errands and while you guys are doing the easy tasks. Yea Kyle you little jackass I'm talking about you. While I'm jumping on train carriages, you're just sitting in your Raven Claw with a cup of coffee, and you feel so bloody happy because what? You destroyed an enemy ship? Bully for you

I'd so much rather be Kyle Katarn. At least in Jedi Outcast, you didn't feel like Coffee Boy with a big L as his stigma. Kyle has charisma! Kyle shouldn't be doing menial, semi retarded tasks that involve playing with a gamepad and masturbating

    Pfft. Rant over

    nice.. image. *delete* [face_frustrated]

Mysteries of the Sith had us playing as a character other than Kyle - noone seemed to care too much about that. Jedi Knight doesn't always have to be about one person. I'll admit, making the 'other' bearded one kill stormtroopers is fun, but wouldn't it be great to be any of the Solo kids in various land/space engagements during the Vong war?

Besides, playing the same guy over and over again gets old. The galaxy is huge, why does it always have to be about one reluctant Jedi? Show me short-fused Durron, prettyboy Anakin Solo, narcissist Ganner, or even *gasp* Luke [face_dancing]

Perhaps. Well now that I reconsider, it wouldn't be bad playing as someone else

But that person has to have some sort of significance, some sort of emotional bonding with the player. At least in MOTS, Mara and Kyle's fates were intertwined, and I don't mean in the coffee boy sense. It would have been at least nicer to learn more about Jaden, but noooooo some ****er has to happily trash the ride while Jaden was talking to Rosh

    **possible spoilers**

Rosh...another formula for ruining a game. That temptation to just stab the little ass and turn to the dark side...hell if I could kill him and not turn to the dark side, I would.

    >>i've found out that the wii controler is not as good as frist thout you press a buton combo then do slash then a other comb etc etc etc<<

It all depends on how a game is programmed to use the wiimote. The first few titles seem to be leaning towards certain simpler actions to represent broader sword movements, but it could still be programmed for full-out virtual sword movement if designed so.

You're right, the characters swapped as the levels advanced (coffee-boy..[face_laugh]).

Jedi Academy was kind of boring - but at least we got to see a few new levels. The one in the sand with the Krayt Dragon (or whatever worm thing) was kind of cool. I wish they could bring ALL these great ideas together and one kick-ass game with a great story line (and movie sequences).

I hear ya about the Rosh thing..

I like Rosh. I like all of the voices Jason Marsden does for Lucasarts games (Rosh from JA, Ludo from Gladius, Dustil from KOTOR...).

    I hope you're not a fruitcakephile xp

I really loved the "Rosh as himself" mod on jk2files. Quoted from author: who thinks Rosh is a fruitcake? Awesome...
