I for one am disappointed at the inclusion of prequel icons.

The prequels were a blight on Star Wars history, diluting the cultural significance of the Original Trilogy with a poorly thought out, woefully acted, abysmally directed and inconsistent mess. The dull characters, lifeless but technically proficient backdrops, and paper thin plots were replicated across the existing EU, so that the worst parts of the prequels dragged the best parts of the OT down with them.

Since the savvy minds at Disney assumed ownership of the Star Wars IP, a very obvious paradigm shift has occurred towards the OT as the centrepiece of the Star Wars and discreetly pretending the prequels didn't happen. Their existence as a concept is, at best, tolerated but not welcomed. We see this in the decision to euthanise the bloated and silly EU; the termination of the Clone Wars show (which like MASH had gone on for longer than the actual war itself, seemingly) in favour of Rebels, and the Force Awakens fulfilling all our dreams by acting as if there's only three Star Wars films out there.

Given the Force Awakens will only further underscore how out of favour the prequels are, I humbly submit we should get on board and ditch the prequel character icons. I appreciate an army of seven prequels fans will be upset, but I would argue that we are doing them a favour by diminishing the severity of the impact of TFA in December. If they're already used to the idea that the prequels aren't really part of the future of Star Wars now, it will hurt less when TFA comes out and makes this abundantly clear.

Please, consider the future and remove these offensive symbols from our emoticons.

 

OK but here's the thing.

Where you put prequel emotes, you could have put:

* Kyle Katarn
* Revan
* Bastila
* Carth
* Adolf Hitler, who is preferable to prequel Mannequin Skywalker in every respect

So I'm just saying... maybe you should get rid of them and put good Legends characters in there.

EDIT: Or even Wedge! Wedge is a better option because

a) He wasn't in the prequels,
b) he's MF'ing Wedge Antilles,
c) He was there for the destruction of two death stars, and
d) He wasn't in the prequels.

 

I'd support EU choices and I won't use PT ones but I'm not up in arms at them being available.

Believe it or not, Ender Sai, some people actually like ROTS better than anything else. For example: I do.

That said, how ANYONE can rank AOTC in the top half is beyond me.

 

We are not going to be debating the relative merits of the various films, thanks.
