    starwars.com updates...

(follow the link for the full article)

    Coming in October...

"Author Ryder Windham writes Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide, an illustrated exploration of many aspects of the entire Star Wars saga. The history of the Star Wars galaxy; the key characters, technology and locations; the making of the films; the ever-growing Expanded Universe; the world of collectibles and Star Wars fandom -- it's all in here and illustrated with over 600 images."

"Also out in October is Star Wars: Complete Locations -- Inside the Worlds of Episode I to VI. The entire Star Wars saga is opened up for detailed, visual exploration through the amazingly intricate exploded view diagrams, illustrations and maps by Hans Jenssen, Richard Chasemore and Robert E. Barnes. This book includes maps and information from the previous Inside the Worlds of... books (written by David West Reynolds, Kristin Lund, Simon Beecroft and James Luceno) as well updated information and new text by Kerrie Dougherty and new illustrations by the same team of artists."

So the ultimate wisual guide is the visual dictionaries all in the same book, + some new stuff, and the other one is the same but for inside the worlds. Right?

Apparently. Hopefully this won't take the place of a dedicated Inside the Worlds of ROTS book though.

Yeah, I figured out about the Inside the worlds one, and for it, now the question is if i should buy it, or the other 4 seperately.
On the ultimate visual guide, rereading it makes me think it is a new guide, possibly similar to the visual dictionary series. It is written by ryder windham, not the other people who wrote the visual dictionaries.
Now I wonder if I should get it, the visual dictionaries, or both.

Yummishness. Yup -- this is going to be a must-y, what with with Alderaan figuring into the EP3 plot, and all.

Please please please release an Inside the Worlds of Episode III! Hopefully if it does, it will have the same amount of RotS coverage as if it were a standalone.

Ultimate Guide sounds interesting, though, but surely this sort of thing comes out alongside the movie?

The regular Visual Dictionary for ROTS will come out in April for the movie, which gives me the impression the Ultimate Guide is not a repackaging of the VD's, as they wouldn't eat into the VD's sales so soon like that.

Yeah, the SW Ultimate Visual Guide will be like the ones DK puts out for comic-book characters and such, only for SW. Considering how informative those are,I say this is a must-buy.

Yeah, the Ultimate Guide to the Transformers that they put out was superb (especially seeing Cybertron, er, Primus in his robot form).

The Ultimate Visual Guide looks interesting, especially if it follows the same line as the DK comic book ones. It doesn't seem too EU-focused though, but I'm confident that Ryder Windham will at least reference some of his stuff.

I'm a bit torn on Complete Inside the Worlds. It does seem a bit of a slap in the face to all those of us who have bought the single editions, to repackage them all in a single volume, with extras. I also hope that it isn't going to take the place of a single edition of 'Inside the Worlds' for RotS.

I've never bought any of the "Inside the worlds of.." books, think i'll just wait for the "complete locations" and be done with it!, still, it is a bit of a kick in the pants for those who already have everything....it's our own fault though, Lucasfilm know we are a bunch of completist suckers, and i mean that in the best sense of the word ;)

for those who don´t understand official facts: Inside the worlds books and the ultimate thing are NOT one and the same, and NOT a collection of the single books! it only features some of the art from these books, maps, locations. but NOT all of it. and it got new texts, by new authors.

I REALLY hope that the majority of the content of these new books features original material. I would hate to purchase them to only realise that the content is just predominantly a rehash of old published material.

    Clicky McClick

It seems these books (I'm assuming it is these books!) will be released at the same time as the RotS DVD.

Very nice. But can anyone make out just what the hull the "Battle of Ruusan" section says? On the second "ancient SW" section? Even Windows Magnifier still makes it read like a urethrologist's prescription pad.

I cannot make out anything on any of them except that the Ruusan one is actually just an overview of the sith as there are pics of Exar Kun, Bane, and one of the battles of Ruusan. The first sentence mentiones something about the duo that discovered the sith empire.
