New Worlds Episode 3: The 3rd Philippine Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention

NEW WORLDS EPISODE 3: The 3rd Philippine Science Fiction & Fantasy Convention will be held on May 23 and 24 at the Glorietta Activity Center. This year's host is Star Wars Philippines, in commemmoration
of the last great movie of the Star Wars saga. The event is presented by the New Worlds Alliance, Mellow Touch 94.7, and the Ayala Center.

The NWA is the first organization of science fiction and fantasy fan groups in the country. Formed in 2003, the NWA is currently composed of Pinoy Harry Potter (PHP); PinoySlayers?The Filipino Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series Fan Club; Pinoy X-Philes (PXP)?The Filipino X-Files Fan Club; Star Wars Philippines (SWP); The Matrix Philippines; The Talon?The Filipino Smallville Fan Club; Pinoy Fremen?The Filipino Dune Fan Club; Alliance for Eclectic Gamers and Interactive Storytellers (AEGIS); The Philippine Tolkien Society (TPTS); and Via Astris Inc. That sound very favorable as the week prior and after May 19th will be a busy time for me and my fanforce. Events/Premieres to attend, Costumes appearances to make and costumes/armor to complete. Hopely I can make it with my costumes and SD Digicam Cards in toll!

I'm am planning to and hopefully with some savings here and there, I can afford the trip. Silly me is planning to see the LOTR Exhibition one last time next week at Sydney (heehee, as tho' I didn't have enough after spending 3 months with it! ). Not that long anyway, just 4 nights max.

I've been to last year's convention at Rockwell. I liked it because I was in a Tolkien-craze then, because of RotK. But now that Revenge of the Sith will be coming out this year, the Lucas-fan in me is jumping for joy...And it's so convenient that we live near Glorieta...

 

Pardon my ignorance, but would there be any Starwars merchandise there ? I'm looking for Empire Strikes Back TCGs. Could anyone know a dealer ? Thanks

Is there any recommanded Hotels I can stay at near the location of the event? I guess something around 3-5 Stars, depending on the per night charges and my budget as am planning to arrive on Sun and leave probably on Wed.

Ladies roommates are most welcome!

Heehee, I still need to start hunting for the cheapest Airfare possible and calculate my total budget since I may also be tempted to make a run to KL, Malaysia for their special Screenings over the Weekend (but that will not cost much as I'll be taking coach and I can hick a sleep at somebody's house).

Will confirm again once I make my full decisions.

Enrich your Star Wars knowledge by attending various lectures and discussion forums with topics ranging from costuming, collecting, visual effects in film, mythology, and literature. Feast your eyes on the works of local comic book artists, sculptors, painters, and diorama makers in the Star Wars exhibit; join the on-the-spot Star Wars Art Contest; and watch as a huge Star Wars mural to be created by Alfred Galvez and other mural artists, unfolds before your very eyes! Star Wars is also known for its elaborate costumes and the Convention is the perfect opportunity to wear one yourself! Come to the Convention in costume and join the Star Wars Costume Play contest. These groups have prepared many fun activities and performances for followers of their respective fandoms. Attendees are in for a treat as more groups showcase their creations in the New Worlds Fanfilm Festival.
