Knox, TN Nickname

I was looking at the other Fanforce chapters, and I noticed that a lot of them have nifty nicknames like the Hothlanta Rebels, or Tampa Docking Bay 1138. I was thinking since we're about to be an official chapter after I believe one more meeting and a city rep election, we should have our own nickname too. We sort of touched on this at one of the last meetings, but I figured here we could get input from everyone even if they can't make it to every meet. Maybe we could be the Darth Vols. Or the Knoxvillains. Or the University of the Sith. Or the Tennessee Mauls. Or The Empire of the Sunsphere. I tried to think of good guy themed ones, but these just kinda jumped into me noggin. If you think of a different one and want to nominate it, post it. It'll probably be better than mine anyway; I just kinda threw these together to give you folks an idea of what I was talkin about. And if there's enough interest we could have one of the admins whip up an official poll and once our nickname is decided we could put that on a patch or t-shirt. What do you guys think?

 

That's the thing, we could never reach a concensus on a nickname, and no one really seemed to care that much about it either. I can't really think of anything snazzy to call it, so if anyone happens to have a stroke of genius, please feel free to post it up.

 

What about Voltroopers?

We also talked about our logo being a Maul with orange instead of red on his head.....

...or a Clonetrooper with orange stripings on his visor like the red Clonetrooper

I definitely want to put the Vol "T" on the side of his helmet, and probably a hint of orange on the helmet fin, too.. Just seems fitting.

That was the plan for the patch image anyway.

 

I know there are some people who aren't as enthusiastic about the Vols as the rest of us, but I for one am of the opinion that we're genetically predisposed to having something pertaining to the Vols in our name. And of course, orange as one of our colors

 

To be honest, I think that Tennessee Football is about the most overrated thing in the entire state, and I can't understand why the exact same folks who would pay hundreds of dollars to go to one game with their family and get crappy outdoor seats and raped on concessions would tell me I'm a freak for spending far less money going to an air-conditioned theatre every three years.. But I digress.

My dislike of UT football aside, I love the Voltrooper idea. After being on Cumberland Avenue many a time role-playing on game day (Thank God the KGB is closed) and watching literally 100,000+ people move almost in formation into and out of the Stadium will now be forever mixed in my head with images of the clones boarding their ships and fighting battle droids. That's why I like the idea.

 

I also think TN football is way over rated.....you would be suprised at the sotries I have heard from UT officers in regards to what UT football players were allowed to get away with...but that is another story.

Putting my dislike of UT football aside, it is still one of the most recognizable images that people associate with Knoxville, TN. That is why I like it
