If they do not tap into the Dark Side of The Force, then from what exactly are they drawing their power? In particular, this question is mostly about Mother Talzin.

Jedi appeared to have allowed them a place to stay(on Dathomir) presumably by not destroying them due that that remained isolated and neutral during the Clone Wars, thats basically all it says on the databank, along that they use dark magiks, which are some sort of or variety of force skills we learn by SOD. We know only through their deals with the villains that the Nightsisters under Talzin had dealings with the Sith, first Sidious and apparently also Dooku but his dealings with Talzin remained unexplored or explained even in SOD.

Not really certain why the Jedi did not do anything against them and allowed these obvious dark witches to thrive for many years, they seemed anxious to make extinct the Sith again. Guess under their code they cant commit democide/genocide. But they were apparently known by Kenobi and the Council to sell their services and venture off world as assassins as they made the connection of the Zabrak to Dathomir rather than Irdionia which was not explained how as far as I recall. Her harmless simple witch ruse act failed against Kenobi and Windu. Kenobi was careful on Dathomir to not draw their wrath but forceful enough to enact the Jedi's own wrath by making it known that they were aware of her transgression against them which would result in Jedi presuming being called to Dathomir to battle and destroy the Witches if need be.

I liked the Nightsisters. One thing that was unique about them was that they were darksiders, they used the Dark Side, but didn't appear to be consumed by it as Sith tend to be. They weren't perpetually brimming over with anger rage and hatred. They genuinely cared for each other, or at least they appeared to, in contrast to the Sith who care for nobody but themselves. It was a refreshing take and I liked it.

If Ventress lives past Dark Disciple then yes, they survived. She was made an official Nightsister. Talzin is basically immortal, her green essence left her body like it normally does so its also unclear whether she's actually dead dead.

Its simply a postulation. Well even the Mortis family needed the special dagger to kill them, otherwise they were indestructible. Grievous was a non-Force being and used lightsabers there wasnt really anything Force related in her death. Talzin may just no longer be able form a physical shell but she was a being of energy as depicted in the comic. They could return to the character at some point like they did with Maul and Fett. Perhaps she's like Maul's version of Kenobi's Ghost and Luke and Yoda's Jinn(without the tonic).

Its an interesting question, because in a Lost Missions episode of the CW, Talzin says she is not a natural force sensitive, yet we see her using various forms beyond her magicks. She is also the mother of a powerful force sensitive child, Maul - which leads me to believe she was lying in that episode. An article about the CW Nightsisters on the SW site says they use force skills which they refer to as magicks. I think its safe to say that some use chants and gestures to summon the Force, while others simply display the ability, like Ventress. The green mist that Talzin uses in various ways is called spirit ichor, which is channeled via the Force by way of the Nightsister / Nightbrother "gods" - which we saw in the Mortis arc. The writers clearly didn't make everything cut and dry for the viewers though...

Talzin, in my opinion, was second to no one when it came to Force powers - it took Sidious, Dooku, and Grievous to "defeat" her. I believe she and Sidious were two sides of the same coin - they shared darkside knowledge and became equals. The only difference was that Talzin cared about her son, Maul, and sacrificed her physical self to save him, whereas Sidious only cared about himself. Since she is basically immortal, I think she'll be able to manifest as a Force Ghost, but her physical body is likely stone now, as we saw in SOD.

I would say she was lying as she does play coy and likes misdirection - or the writers/producers wanted various interpretations which later they themselves can figure out and divulge down the road or they retain the facts. She did something similar when Kenobi and Skywalker arrived, that simple witch stuff seemed like they didnt want the Jedi to know their true intentions and powers/abilities.

Just realized that the micro-seres Clone Wars Ventress was based on this female Sith concept, but given the bald dead of the other concepts at the time:

It appears to have some weird highly asymmetric thrust thing going on, I don't even know how such a thing would do anything other than fly continuously in circles.

*hehe meant "bald head" above, damn typos.

    Darth Valkyrus

My first impression was that of a He-Man toy vehicle, 2nd was that of the spikes on those war chariot wheels or arrow heads, my 3rd it looked like they were trying to merge Maul's speeder with that of a Tie Bomber or Vulture Bomber Droid and came up with that. I assume the rudders are on those wings in the center connecting the engine and driver/passenger pods.

Yes, that was confirmed on a Starwars.com blog entry a while back. Ventress and Maul are currently the only surviving Dathomirians in the galaxy.

The aforementioned blog entry says this:

    and this:

This seems to harken back to the Book of Sith where Talzin claims Dathomir is connected to the spirit realm, which is inhabited by the Fanged God and Winged Goddess, aka the Son and Daughter of Mortis. This may be Legends, but it does seem to bear a resemblance to the official story.

A more concrete answer is given in Dathomir's old databank entry:

The SW galaxy is a big place, I think its a leap to assume they are the last two from an entire planet / culture. Talzin's clan / coven may have been nearly wiped out, but that doesn't mean other Nightsisters / Nightbrothers don't live on other parts of the planet. Not to mention, Nightsisters and Nightbrothers could also be off-world working as assassins, etc... Lets be optimistic, "...we will survive. We always have."

Filoni had admitted a while back he frequently references and sources using the EU and wookiepedia, so really no surprise if you're finding similarities. That kinda stuff goes both ways TCW influences EU, EU influenced TCW .

Anyhow, at least one Nightsister survived the Clone Wars:

That's a good example, Charal was on Endor during the OT era - so other Nightsisters and Nightbrothers are not only likely still on Dathomir but on various other planets. I'd love for Rebels to bring in a character like Charal, maybe we can see how she got marooned on Endor. It would be cool to see a Nightsister as an assassin, bounty hunter, etc not attached to Talzin's clan.
