I prefer the Sarlacc pit monster as originally envisioned before the SE. It was this great gaping maw and it was unique. The new version is like the space slug or any of a number of creatures you see in SF. (Dune, etc.)

The new version also makes Boba's survival look less plausible...

    Thoughts?

I like the original " Insinkerator " Garbage Disposal model itself. ;)

( See? No Freudian references needed...just an Ace Hardware one...)

I prefer the SE version myself, gives the scene more energy and makes the Sarlacc more threatening.

The new version also makes Boba's survival look less plausible...

Which is a good thing, of course O:)

Definitly the OG Sarlaac. I can't stand the CG "worm" from the special edition. Also the new sounds are terrible and really detract from an other wise great scene.

I think the SE worm looks less threatening. Sure, it can come out and grab you, but the way it was before was quite scary. Just this quiet, unmoving hole in the desert, waiting for you to stumble in. I'm not a big EU person, but there was this great Star Wars Wildlife book at Barnes and Noble. It had a huge diagram of what the Sarlaac looked like beneath the surface, very cool.

I prefer the SE version. IMHO it does make the thing seem more alive. Maybe this is because i grew up with the SE maybe not.

It honestly doesn't matter to me... I like the original, and I like the SE. The SE is a bit more intimidating, though, which gives us more insight as to why it was so feared.

I like the original better. The beak of the Sarlacc just looks sort of silly to me. Although I do like the more active tentacles, etc of the SE Sarlacc.

The old one, the SE Sarlaac reminds me too much of Little Shop of Horrors.

The original one, because it was actually a pit.

The gaping, toothed, pit was more frightening, both visually and conceptually, IMO.

The SE sarlacc only improves one moment- when Lando's leg gets grabbed and he gets dragged down as the beak comes up over the edge.

Other than that, it really doesn't add anything to the sequence. Not to mention the original design seemed more like a slow-digesting desert creature than the hyperactive beak.

The SE version is much more exciting. I prefer that one.

Only in your mind, my very young apprentice.o_O

I prefer the old one as well. It makes no sense that you'd have this large tooth-lined mouth and then a second mouth inside of it.

Yeah, now it just looks like some duck-like creature. The older one was much more intimidating.

    What's a duck?
    Nevermind...

There's only one mouth. The stuff around it is just for keeping victims from escaping.

i prefer the old sarlacc. that's what it was originally meant to be, a giant pit monster. like the pit IS the monster. that is a much more frightening idea i think. i don't think george originally meant for the sarlacc to be the monster IN the pit, he meant for it to BE the pit and that big beak just seems majoryly out of place.

They stuck a second mouth inside of the first mouth. So in addition to the spike-lined first mouth, the thing now has a prehensile mouth/tongue, not to mention a lot of additional tentacles that were slapped on directly to the walls of the mouth, in some cases right beside the spikes.

    Your reality is unfocused.

    Qui-Gon is stoned.

    Exactly.
A desert breed of the Venus Flytrap just isn't as frightning. It looks rediculious.

From a zooilogical standpoint, the original is a much more realistic portrayal of a stationary and seldom fed creature.

No, they stuck a mouth inside the hole that is designed to keep victims from escaping.

You don't need to understand my reality.
