No More Wookiee Jedi?

Over at the DH boards, Randy has stated that George has forbidden the EU from making any new Wookiee Jedi. Why is this? Is anyone else as ticked about this as I am?

 

Oh, who knows why Lucas allows or disallows anything these days

And yes, I do think this kinda stinks

 

How many Wookiee jedi are there at the moment?

I know of Tyvokka and I recall one in the Battlegrounds game

 

Maybe it has something to do with the new TV show?

My guess would be he has something planned for Wookiee Jedi. Same reason he came down hard on the "no-Padme between AotC and RotS" thing. He has specific ideas and doesn't want them messed with. Perhaps he wants a Wookiee Jedi in the TV show, and doesn't want them to becoem cliche/get confused for each other.

 

If it's really that last thing someone finally needs to tell him that not all of his consumers have the intelligence of a stray dog.

Lowbacca is the only Wookiee Jedi post-Republic. I wonder what Lucas thinks of that, and why he feels the need to constrain the walking carpets in such a manner...

I was never particularly enamored of the idea of a Wookie Jedi, but beyond that, I really don't care. Wookie Jedi or non-Wookie Jedi, they're all Jedi to me . . .

 

Maybe because Wookies are rare, and Jedi are rareergo wookie jedi must be really rare. Frankly, we have too many already.

 

Could this be why Lowbacca was exiled on Dagobah. Then again, he was only exiled, not killed.

 

After reading more of the DH post, it shocks me more that there is a LIST of species that can't be Jedi anymore.

Those are the three I know of (now), and Toydarian and Gamorrean are both old news. I would like to see this list...

 

Wasn't Hanharr originally going to be able to become a Jedi/Sith in KOTOR II until GL stepped in with this no Wookie Jedi stuff?

And Wookies aren't rare. I guess, maybe they're rare in Slaves-not-allowed-areas of the Empire, but if you go to Kashyyk, you have to drop to the Shadowlands to find much that isn't a Wookie (and there you still have Wookie corpses)

 

Where is this no Jedi list you speak of?

I really like the concept of Wookiee Jedi, I had a Wookiee Jedi in various games for some time now. :/

 

If you read the post at Dark Horse that's listed above, on page 4 Randy mentions that the wookiees are part of an entire list of species.

 

There was mention of several Wooks training to be Jedi in The Joiner King, in the Formbi/Ossus Academy chapter.

Guess we'll never see them then.

 

This is stupid in ways I can't even begin to fathom at this point. The Wookiee ban and the 'no Jedi from this species' list.

 

I don't have any problem with the no Jedi species list.

Well, I guess I do but I am much more confused/upset at the declaration against Wookie Jedi.

When I re-read Randy's post, it seems that they just don't want more alien Jedi from the same species as previous alien Jedi. Perhaps to prevent confusion. Sort of like how Lucas didn't want 2 Anakins, even though he seemed to approve of having 2 Maces.

 

I think it was clear that GL was losing his mind when he gave a cameo to N*Sync in Episode II.

You got a point there Slimy. It really doesnt make sense but who knows what goes on in G.L.'s brain.

 

The difference there is that nobody watched the Ewok movies, whereas many people read the novels.

 

Geez, give the guy a break.

He may very well have a good reason.

Why angst over and bash him when you have absolutely no idea of his plans?

And whats wrong with a band having a quick scene in the film? its not even 5 seconds! i forgot they were even there until it was brought up again.

My point is until we have a reason, whats the point in bashing him?

As said above he may unvale something about Wookiee's being Jedi in the TV show.
Mabye them being Force Sensative being rare to the point its unheard of and the 'only' Wookiee Jedi is in the Show?

And what does it matter? there are still Wookiee Jedi around, not like there arnt any at all.

Its not like the ones already around have much pagetime anway.

2 Maces? what the...? I never heard of that.

And i watched the Ewok movie/show i was little but i watched it.

 

There are no boy bands in Star Wars. That was just a rumor that never came true.

One of the kids in the Ewok movies is named Mace. And just to liven things up, there's a Squib on Tatooine named Mace Windu.

 

Isn't the reason obvious? Dirty little slave boys can be Jedi, but when a wookie wants to be one he's called a traitor and shipped away?



George Lucas doesn't care about Wookies.

 

Now I can't give you a source on this as my memory fails me, but it?s was said that only 1 Wookie Jedi was born every 100 years or so. Wookies aren't force sensitive creatures.
