I know he died in the NJO, but I have heard multiple theorys about his living. Would it be possible or did he die in a pretty "no way now how he survived" way?

It doesn't necessarily say he died. It just says the ship he was on blew up. I have a feeling it isn't the last time we will see Nom Anor in the books. ;)

Nom Anor was one of the canniest, craftiest, most selfish creatures ever. He's too cool to have died. I'm sure they can find a million ways to show how he escaped at the last minute. In fact, I'd be disappointed if they didn't. He was one of my favorite Vong :D

If Boba Fett can come back, so can Nom Anor.

I say, unless his head is on your desk, do not assume his demise. Like Fett and Daala, he can cheat death at will.

And even if his head IS on your desk, watch your back. Remember the Magnaguards in ROTS? :D That's what I'm talking about!

I thought Nom Anor died without a hint or foreshadowing of survival. He didn't care to live in the "new" galaxy. But he was always a coward and a crafty survivalist, so perhaps it was a well thought out ploy. I remember Han Solo relenting and willing to put aside his feelings to help save Nom Anor. It would be interesting to see Nom Anor come back. There would really be no place among the Yuuzhan Vong for him. Everything that he idealized was an illusion, especially the reality of his "gods".

I absolutely loved Boba Fett's return and his interaction with Han Solo, Princess Leia, and the Yuuzhan Vong. That whole subplot was simply awesome.

Nom Anor is almost certainly alive. Read the scene again and you'll see him surrender the "only" escape pod to the Solos and allow himself to die (very un-Nomish). Now ask yourself this: Why would Shimrra's citadel have only one escape pod? Surely Onimi planned that he and Shimrra would be separated at some point, that there would be need for two if Shimrra ever broke free of his power. Or Shimrra taking it and leaving Onimi behind (Shimrra really did believe him a lowly Shamed One after all). It really doesn't make any sense for there to have been only one and I think Nom Anor knew this. When the Solos left, he took the secret escape pod and saved himself before the citadel was destroyed [face_mischief]

Well, if Boba Fett can escape the Sarlacc Pit, then Nom Anor can certainly escape as well. I wonder what Nom Anor would do though. He betrayed the Yuuzhan Vong and nobody trusted him. Where is there a place for him in the galaxy other than solitude in some remote system.

I agree with ZebulaNebula, if only for the fact that fan favorites make incredible (impossible?) comebacks all the time throughout fiction. I think Boba Fett could have survived the Death Star explosions through molecular phase shifting should he have met his demise there, just so he could be brought back.

In fact, I can't stop saying ZebulaNebula. Does that make me strange?

    ZebulaNebula, ZebulaNebula, ZebulaNebula. Hmmm.

Yes, but my point is Nom Anor was a very cunning and shrewd individual, but everyone needs to belong somewhere. I can't see him living in solitude. I choose to believe that he didn't want any part of the "new order". Why in the world would he pass up letting Han help him survive? Was that too easy? He had gained sanctuary with Han.

If he did find another way out, where in the galaxy is he going to go and to what end? I wouldn't have wanted to die like he did, but I don't know where I would go or belong.

And Nom Anor's place is causing trouble, stabbing backs, and looking for a way to get on top(rather like the average Bothan). He's not dead(he wants you to think he is), he's alive and well in some hotbed of unrest or corruption, stirring up a big ol' batch of trouble. He wouldn't be in solitude; he'd be among millions, maybe billions, all of whom he considers his pawns. If I were Nom Anor, I'd run for office under an assumed name. Probably somewhere with three things: a large refugee population; an unstable ploitical system; and a latent conflict to exploit. That description fits a large percentage of the postwar galaxy. Ten credits says he'll be a Senator inside of five years.
