[Non Australia-related topic] JCC, I need your help!

Okay, so the plain and simple truth... is that I've never been to a Subway... (the food place, not the transportation thingy).

Though I seem to recall a friend telling me that the place doesn't rely on menus as much as having the workers ask people specifically what they want. So the question is posed: What should I ask for?

I'm fond of all of the basic meat groups, cheeses, and I like lettuce and other common sandwich additions, but what will they have? Do I need to specify the type of bread that they'll make my sandwich with? Condiments? Style? What are my options?

And for any regular Subway-goers, what's your favorite thing to get? I'm open to suggestions.

Yeah, this isn't actually some desperate plea for aid; I merely had nothing better to do right now, and if you're in the same boat, then this thread is for you!

I love subway, I usually get an Italian BMT

 

You seems to have major Subway anxiety. Just walk in and look at the menu. Take your time and ask questions. You'll be happy you did.


Don't get anything with bacon on it.

 

You go in. If you're lucky, the guy behind the counter will speak English, and will be smart enough not to pick up food off the floor while customers are watching or anything like that. You tell him (or her) what you want; if that fails, you point and hope that the person's spatial and cognitive reasoning is good enough to follow your finger to the item you want. You'll have choices: white bread, various wheat breads, whatever. 12 inches or 6 inches (they're referring to the bread, don't embarrass yourself)? Then you request your meat or meatball or tuna or whatever. Then whether you want lettuce, tomatoes, olives, onions, etc. Do you want mayo? Cheese? If so, provolone, american, what? Do you want mustard? Honey mustard? You tell 'em what you want, they make it. It may sound daunting, but it's fairly simple and uncomplicated.

Italian BMT

* by my choice

First, you choose the bread - white, wheat, Monteray Cheddar, Italian Herbs and Spices* (you get 6 inch or a foot)

Next, the meat. Italian BMT has ham, Salami, and sandwich pepperoni, I believe.

Next you choose what cheese - Swiss*, American, Chedder, Jalepeno Chedder (I like to get double cheese)

Then vegetables - which I skip.

Then condiments. I prefer an equal amount of mustard and spicy mustard.

They may give you the choice to have it toasted. Politely decline.


Not all choices will be available at every Subway.

 

Just remember that it's all fast food and it's all cheaper (and probably healthier) to make for yourself at home.
Don't be fooled by the skinny guy on their ad's who used to be fat, the secret behind his continuing success is that they pay him loads and he can afford a dietician and a personal trainer.

The go crazy.
I used to get a Subway melt (include ham, bacon AND turkey! ) with southwest ranch dressing and extra cheese, capsicum, olives, jalepeno's and pepper.
That **** will mess you up!

 

If I ever get Subways (Which is rare), I'll get a 12 inch Italian with Chicken Tikka. No salad, no sauces.

Luckily, I tend to speak better gibberish than the workers speak English.
