    Well I'm back again with something to show, it's something I've been working on for a bit under a month now, it's been received well over at the cgsociety (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=379795) so I thought I'd show you guys over here as well.

    What it is, is my own customised Transformer using the recently announced Holden VE Commodore SS-V as the base car. I have created 2 versions of the car, a regular Autobot version (for now called Handbrake) and a Decepticon Police Car (for now called Speedtrap).

    This is a big project of mine which sort of came out of nowhere for me but it will result in an animation of the two Transformers chasing and battling each other throughout a city and a construction site. I've started work on those environments as well.

    Base Cars (Handbrake on left, Speedtrap on right)

    Wire for Handbrake Car

    WIP on the interior of the car
    [image=http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/489/065ql2.jpg]

    Different angles for the modified Speedtrap

    Full shot of the transformed Handbrake
    [image=http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4672/060uo9.jpg]

    Rendered animation of Handbrake Transforming

    WIP Updated colourscheme for Handbrake (B+W scheme will be for Speedtrap)
    [image=http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/8601/067bh0.jpg]

    WIP on the head of Speedtrap
    [image=http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/9274/065aw8.jpg]

    WIP on Speedtrap's shotgun (made out the sideskirts of the car)
    [image=http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/5734/066ae4.jpg]

    Closeup of the hands
    [image=http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/2351/0201sq.jpg]

    Poly counts for Handbrake
    Car Exterior = 261,006 poly's, 374,400 tri's
    Car Interior = 16,988 polys, 33,310 tri's
    Robot Parts = 190,833 poly's, 304,406 tri's
    There are alot more WIP images in the cgtalk thread link I posted above if you wanna take a look.

    All modelled in 3dsmax 8 and rendered wtih MentalRay

    So yeah, let me know what you think....I've surprised myself a fair bit with it all as it's only the second car I've ever made...lol...and the first was a disaster(and about 3 years ago...lol)

    Pretty kool. I'm not sure how that movie will turn out when it comes out next year? You see JJ Palomo's transformer animation at CGtalk? What have you been up to anyway?? You finish those Pixel Corps classes and are back now?

    thanks guys

    yep that was little ol' me over there on cgtalk

    as for what I've been up to..I was involved for with PixelCorps with theiry teams for about 2 months, but in that time had surgery and was forced to drop out of any team involvement...still a member but not as involved as I was.

    I had the surgery back in Feb, but am still recovering from it now (oh its been fun...lol...and highly boring) I'm unable to work or do anything much really other than lie on my bed with my laptop and do 3d stuff....so I guess its not all bad [face_whistling]

    What kinda operation? I gotta get... tonsilectomy now. Sucks. I'll try and get the new contests going before that happens but I don't know. I'm scheduled to do it Aug.25 and will be out for a week. There's so much work on this contest stuff.

    That was JJ's transformed animation that's been all over the net this year. What did you do at CGtalk?

    Did you ever finish you contest model you were working on here? If so maybe we can upload it for all?

    the cgtalk thing was this transformer over in the WIP forum...

    and I've been meaning to get back and polish up that model but I haven't really looked at it in months....might get back to it eventually

    Surgery is actually cool for 3D work. Last year I borke my ankle ligaments (skateboard vs. car, guess which one I was) and while stuck on my bed, I made my ninja turtle, my cat creature, and progressed on my mando chick. I'm still riding my board, and crashed a couple of times, but I only hurt my hands so bad that I cannot hold the mouse anymore.

    Nothing to do: I tried Mudbox this week end. So cool. Much better than Zbrush, so much easier
