Not only are Pirates of the Caribbean not the best pirate films...

...they're not even the best Disney pirate films. I just watched Shipwrecked the other night, and thought to myself that this was a pretty damn good flick. It's actually a Norwegian film, dubbed in English and slapped with the Disney label. It's somewhat darker than the POTC series and the storyline is a hell of a lot more interesting - a boy works on a ship to pay off the family's debt, and when they dock in London a pirate disguised as a British naval officer boards, and nobody (save the boy) is the wiser.

And Gabe Byrne can eat Johnny Depp for breakfast.

Acrually, considering the success of POTC, I am surprised that we're not see more pirate movies coming down the pipe.

I don't know if it's still there, but someone put a video up on youtube of scenes from the first POTC set to "Shiver My Timbers" from Muppet Treasure Island. It was very good.
