Obi-Wan Kenobi Official Theme

Nobody's posted this? Is it legal to post this if it is official on Youtube?

 

I like the theme quite a bit. It's mind-blowing that Obi-Wan didn't have a theme yet. But neither did Han until Solo. Shoot, Luke doesn't even have a "Luke's Theme". I suppose "The Spark" from The Last Jedi is a theme of his.

 

Well technically the 'Force Theme' in A New Hope was originally meant as 'Ben's theme', while Luke's theme is the overall Star Wars theme itself (which is why it doesn't show up in the Prequels nearly as much). Over the years the usage of the Force Theme expanded beyond Obi-Wan to encompass basically any momentous scene Luke also has the 'Luke & Leia' theme, but that's used pretty sparing in ROTJ and TLJ alone.

Han though, yeah, he never got a theme for 40 years, poor guy

 

Yes I always remember growing up thinking that the Force theme was Ben's theme and the main theme was Luke's.

Anyway, I hear two themes imbedded into this new one. I hear the Force theme (more on that in a moment) and a melancholy version of "Alliance Assembly" from ROTJ.

The impression I get from the theme is a struggling version of the Force theme. It's as if we hear the Force theme clawing and scratching to become the Force theme we all know and love. It cannot quite get there due to the tragic circumstances that surround the show and the events 10 years before. It wants to get there and show its glory. It become stuck in a minor key version of the beginning and will have to keep stretching and reaching to become the Force theme we heard for the very first time in A New Hope. So it draws on the tension of the times until a future moment when the boy Obi-Wan has protected looks out at the twin sunset on Tatooine.

In other words.......John Williams is a genius as always and still nailed it at 90 years old!!!

 

I like this new theme. However, I still find myself craving the JW saga leitmotif.

Obi-Wan saves Leia, the scene calls for some statement of the Force Theme breaking through.

Perhaps also when he digs up the lightsabers, a little soft bit of Force Theme or DotF or BotH.

 

There's a strong similarity to the way Qui-Gon's theme starts as well. The first few notes. I also hear the Force theme, great catch!

 

Yeah I am mystified as to why they haven't use ANY JW saga themes at all. Just a huge missed opportunity for the music. The Obi Wan theme has definitely grown on me though. I like it a lot.

 

So we finally got some other JW Leitmotif themes from the Saga, which almost makes it worse that the previous episodes have zero.

 

I really love this series theme!
