Obi Wan's robes in ANH

Am i wrong or Ob1 ´s clothes in AnH is the same of RotS? It even has the same burn in the shoulder? if i´m wrong tell me.

 

Except for his inner robe (the lighter one) being longer in the OT,
I believe you are correct sir.

 

I believe it even has a patch where the burn was. So he wore the same outfit for 20 yrs? Or happened to be when he met Luke?

Are you guys telling me that in ANH, Obi Wan has a distinguishing mark in his robe...

...that was put there in ROTS?

 

If it's true it would be the first instance of Lucas taking elements from the original trilogy and matching it in the ROTS instead of the other way around.

Not at all.

It's just a strange feeling when someone points out something in a movie that you've never noticed before...

...even after you've watched it a hundred times.

Now I have to watch ANH again just to look for this patch on Obi Wan's robe.

 

Well it's not really. There are several distinctions. The cloak's hood is pointed in ANH. As far as the robe itself, the parts that go over his shoulders are different. In ROTS, it's two peices that go over each shoulder. Each peice goes over each shoulder and goes under the belt in the front and in the back. In ANH, it's one peice that wraps around his neck, then goes under the belt in the front. And the robe itself goes down do his feet in ANH, which it only goes down to a little above the knees in ROTS.

To be honest, other than the colors, it really doesn't look like the same robe at all.

 

I just noticed the patch one day when I was watching ANH a few days after ROTS came out. Also I'm sure that could be why Lucas has Yoda lose his robe.

 

Well, Yoda had his robe back later in the movie...remember where he tells Obi-Wan about the imortality thing? He's wearing it.

 

Now that I think about it, The Jedi are always getting new robes. Not the tunics and pants necissarily, but the robes. Just in ROTS alone, OBW leaves his robe behind 3 times that I can think of:
1. He leaves the wreckage of The Invisible Hand w/out it.
2. He leaves Utapau w/out it.
3. He leaves Mustafar w/out it.

The Jedi must have endless supplies.
Maybe it's the same Jedi robe outlet the spirit of Anakin gets his clothes at in ROTJ.
Clothes he never even wore when he was alive.

 

If this ass hat can get one, Obi-Wan can get one.

Well, despite the differences, I'm sure the burn mark was put there on purpose. Definitely a cool connection.

 

The inner robe is dark brown in ANH. His inner robe is white in TPM, AOTC & ROTS.

 

I never pick out these trivial details. Interesting, though.

 

How wrong you are, there are SO many match ups its not funny, a little more research is needed on your part i think!

 

It's dark brown in ROTS.

I wanted to point out that obi wan has the same inner-inner robe. He has a dark brown one in RotS and in ANH. I used to think he didn't but you can see it clearly in these pics. Oh yes and you can also see that his crossed inner robe actually wraps around his neck as well in RotS.

 

I will try and get screen caps or pictures of the burn hole and patch when I get a chance.
