Hi, I recently watched episode II Attack of the Clones and found something very funny I had never seen before. When we first see Obi-Wan in the turbo-lift going up to Padme's apartment he actually looks like a mullet man. His hair is long and kind of spiky on top. However when he gets out seconds later to greet Jar Jar his hair is different. It looks shorter and it's been parted on one side. Has anyone else ever noticed this? Some StarWars Universe hair cutting technology? Or did Ewan say," you've got to be kidding me George"?

Interesting factoid: The apartment scenes were shot during regular production back in 2000. The turbo lift scene was shot about a year later during pickups. During that shoot, Ewan was filming Black Hawk Down and his hair was buzzzzzed for the role. So the hair in the turbo lift scene was a wig. The apartment scenes was his real hair.

Must admit, I never noticed the change in Obi-Wan's hair in AOTC.

TPM was another matter - in a couple of cases the change was apparent mid-scene, not just from one scene to the next. In the pickup shots & scenes, his hair was a different cut, practically red, & he'd put on weight. Pretty ridiculous.

There are a few really obvious moments in AOTC where you can tell Ewan has a wig and fake beard, but I never actually noticed that one until now. It always looked off, but for some reason the pick up shooting didn't cross my mind.

And you're definitely right about that Darth_Nub. That scene on Naboo where Obi-Wan apologizes to Qui-Gon for his behavior is glaringly obvious.

The beard always bothered me. It looks like its just dyed pom-poms glued to his face or something. And his face is really thin and shallow, because he was training for BHD. The mullet was always there, in fact McGregor jokes about passing on the Jedi Mullet to Christensen in one ROTS promo, but the beard always looked weird, especially in that scene outside the night club.

A similar thing goes on throughout Ep I as well. A lot of the time Ewan McGregor has his own hair cut into the padawan style but for those shots filmed later he's wearing a wig. The result is that his hair sometimes changes from shot to shot - as can be seen in the scene where he first meets Jar Jar. It's Ewan's real hair up until the shot where he ducks Jar Jar's wayward ears where he's wearing a wig.

Well normally people don't watch SW to spot the wigs and fake beards so I'll give you guys a pass this time. [face_peace]

I only noticed the Jar Jar moment in Episode 1 where he ducks the ears, but I excuse it because it kinda looks like sunlight hitting his hair. lol

I never noticed the AOTC wig moments. Probably because I didn't put my face two centimeters away from the screen. lol

Yes it is rare. Many fans weren't even aware they made a BTS AOTC book like they did with TPM because the merchandising push for the second film was obscure compared to episode 1.

Strange, i used to see that book on shelves all the time--in fact, I still see it on shelves all the time! Maybe nobody liked it? I found it disappointing, personally. Lots of flashy graphics but very little text.

That's interesting. I found that one copy I bought and that was it. None since either.

The Art of Books I still see every so often.
