    Hermes FDVR

The Hermes (or HRMIS) FDVR (Full Dive Virtual Reality) helmet and gloves are the main part of this new emerging technology that players use to access the first (and only) game designed for it. Odyssey of Fantasy.

There is an additional haptic suit that is given for free to the first 25,000 people who get the system and OoF that is said will be an additional purchase for anyone else after that, once the game becomes further available to the masses.

All sensations feel like mere vibrations, but are still top notch in current technology. All visual and audio are completely realistic however, able to fool anyone who could have been none the wiser.

The Hermes FDVR System was created, and so named after the Greek Messenger of the Gods because it was seen as an appropriate bridge to a new world; on May 7th, 2040. Its first, and currently only, game: Odyssey of Fantasy (OoF) was finished on December 24th, 2046. It was released on special sale for the first 25,000 people around the world on July 15th, 2047. It is said that the creator, Bin Hyun-Sang, has whispered about a special First Day in-game event that everyone should try to attend.

Bin Hyun-Sang is known as a genius South Korean inventor and entrepreneur that not only dreamed of and helped create Odyssey of Fantasy, but also the Hermes FDVR System itself!

During Odyssey of Fantasy, there are accessible functions for ‘Spells & Abilities’, ‘Specialization & Talents’, ‘Achievements’, ‘Guild’, ‘Mounts & Pets’, ‘Quest Log’, ‘Player vs. Player Statistics’, ‘Dungeon Group’, ‘Game Menu’, ‘Reputation’, ‘Inventory’, ‘Skills’, and ‘Friends List.’ There is also an Experience Bar that can be viewed.

These functions are accessed by conscious intent, their right hand being put into a fist, and then setting that fist against their heart. The tabs will then appear magically before the player and can only be seen by them, they are able to scroll through with just a thought though they can use their hand to move things around or select if they wish, due to the otherwise disorienting ability that takes getting used to. The tabs can be dismissed with only the thought.

Game Menu: An adjusting of the settings and a way to logout of the game. Really basic, but as important as it gets!

Spells & Abilities: Here there will be a showing of a list of spells and abilities the player has acquired after learning them through the Skills Window. It will give more details on each ability, explaining the exact specifications one needs to know. How much stamina or mana cost, damage potential, critical chance, etc.

Specialization & Talents: While one chooses a Class from the very start, at Level 10 one can select a further Specialization that gears the player toward a specific play style that they wish to undergo. Furthermore, there is a Talent Tree that has very special powers available to the players to choose from and progress through at every 5 levels.

Achievements: There is, as is popular, a list of differing achievements one can earn through the game! With every milestone, kill count, quest completion count, or special moment captured…one can earn these little achievement badges that the player can choose whether or not to display on their clothing. Can you earn them all?

Guild: Once a player reaches Level 5, they can choose to join a guild and have fun with a greater community! Or, if they can also get the required currency, create their own at Level 10! With guilds, bigger adventures and dungeons await! Did we mention that Guild-mates can earn their own Guild Hall and other amazing accessories as well?

Mounts & Pets: As time goes on, running throughout this realistically feeling world will get a bit…tiring. Unless you’re up for that! But if not, eventually a player can pay for fabulous mounts if they have the correct riding skill! There are also many vanity pets to collect and cuddle with, that all look, sound, and feel absolutely real! Take care of them as they are unendingly loyal to you!

Quest Log: A space for all players to keep track of and organize all of the many quests they will garner throughout their adventures! Very important.

Player vs. Player Statistics: Battle is inevitable. Battle with other players is also exhilarating! Can you aim to be the best of the best? Every glory and failure is showcased here among your PvP Statistics. What’s your Player Kill Count? How many duels and battlegrounds have you won? How many have you lost?

Dungeon Group: Here a player can search for others quickly to gather and head for a dungeon they wish to delve into, without having to search around physically. A very useful tool!

Reputation: There are many factions and organizations that exist within Odyssey of Fantasy…exactly how do you stack up in their eyes? The better your reputation with a faction, the more likely they are to help you and deal better wares. Or even give hidden rewards! The worse, the more likely their NPCs will attack you on sight. At best, they will jack up all prices of gear and materials. Best not to get to these levels unless intentionally planned!

Inventory: All currency can be deposited here safely without limit, but anything else whether big or small has a ten space restriction. When things are placed in the inventory, they disappear from the world in every discernible way. They can’t be seen, felt, sensed, or interacted with. They are effectively gone. When things are pulled out…they just appear in the hand(s) of the player out of thin air. Depositing and withdrawing has to be done with conscious intent.

Skills: Displays the player’s name, race, class, and specialization. A number is seen to the right of this. That is the amount of Skill Points (SP) one has available to spend. This is then followed below by a mentally scrollable list of all the possible skills and ten gray ‘empty’ bars next to them, showing level. On the right of the listed skill. As they are filled, the bars show differing colors.

Friends List: Just as it sounds, this shows a list of a player’s chosen friends in the game. It grants a special telepathic ability between them that has unlimited range and cannot be obstructed by any spell or ability. Visually it looks like this:

    [Friend Name (Current Status)
    Current Location]

Experience Bar: A simple blue bar that can be seen when one closes their eyes and has the conscious intent to view it. It shows how much XP one needs to reach the next level, how much one has gained, and how much left there is left to go. All seen with the simple bar that goes from left to right as more XP is acquired, the numbers showing the XP stats are overlaid on it.

    Map of the World

Welcome to the World of Korr Avana! It, like us, possesses a single moon by the name of Isira. Prepare to explore Korr Avana’s majesty!

Miles Key: To get the idea of miles on the map, look to the borders of the image. Each white and black line is the equivalent distance of 250 Miles. So the full length is approximately 5,250 Miles or ~8,449 Kilometers!

    The Auspices

In the world of Korr Avana, the vast majority of the races within worship The Auspices. They are not gods or goddesses as one would normally expect, but rather conceptual entities that seem to have sentient thought and great divine power.

While none have ever seen or spoken with them, their power and influence is felt far and wide across the world. It would truly appear they are real. Furthermore, there are 12 Auspices that are worshipped. They are as follows:

    Eternity
    Infinity
    Life
    Death
    Glory
    Justice
    Fate
    Discord
    Love
    Enigma
    Beauty
    Annihilation

    Races of Drahkabor

The Dwarves ~ Dwarves are known for their love of gems and metals, alcohol and combat. Their skills at crafting amazing architecture out of stone and forging the most amazing pieces of armor and weapons are well known. Their alcoholic brews second to none. Their old favorites of all were silver and gold, something that forced a centuries long war with the H’trae early in their relationship. This is all in the past as the two are steadfast friends in the present and the dwarves’ are forgoing nearly all mining of the precious metals out of respect of them, while being helped with the mining of all else in return.

Their stubbornness, loyalty, and passion are among their greatest attributes…but they all blend together to lead to another strong motivator in their common personalities. Aggression. Do they care for the surface world overtly? Not particularly, though there are occasional minerals only found there that they cherish like the rest. But if one has some of the greatest weapons and armor, plus they have all this boisterous passion to spare…why not use it to prove they have the greatest weapons and armor through battle? Not only that, but they don’t take kindly to criticism from those they do not trust, giving rise to terrible tempers.

The dwarves originally came from the Caruun Darr Ring of mountains in what is currently the northwestern region of Drahkabor and are fiercely proud of said range. Were anyone to attempt to conquer the area, they would have to expect to kill every last dwarf without exception, for they would never give it up without making the invaders pay for every inch. The idea of outsiders they don’t trust in their ‘sacred ring’ does not sit well with them, to put it lightly. Any political negotiations with other nations that happen within Drahkabor, never occur in the Caruun Darr Ring because of this.

They tend to get along the best with the H’trae due to their long history and friendship, their mutual interest in the earth and all things underground keeping them together. They do not mesh at all with the centaur, their relationship being like oil and water. They view them as strange abominations that often give them ‘the creeps.’ Nor do they understand why they are so tied to the forests and grasslands of the surface. The others’ reverse view only compounds their antagonistic relationship. The dwarves also rarely get along with the elvestri, whom they view as elitist snobs (nor are they alone in that regard) and overly dependent on magic. The main issue however is that the elven forges produce works of armor and weapons that are just as good as their own…this does not sit well with them and they aim to prove themselves superior. If anything it is often said that the dwarves have a slight advantage in armor crafting and the elvestri in weapon crafting.

    Average Height: Male - 4’10” | Female - 4’8”
Skin Tone: White, Black, Brown, or Gray
Hair Color: White, Gray, Blond, Black, Orange-Red, Brown, or Silver
Eye Color: Brown, Green, Blue, Gray, Orange, or Silver
    Average Lifespan: ~200 years
    Most Common Elemental Affinity: Metal
    Language: Norvar

The Orkra ~ The orkra of Drahkabor are a race quite well known for their aggression and amazing skill in combat. With amazing stamina and dogged persistence, they are nigh relentless in combat. Combine that with their savage strength and sheer precision and you have a fearsome opponent on your hands.

They are native to the icy northern tundra of the Ukk’nash Plains region within Drahkabor where the harsh conditions of the land forged them into the tough people who learned to make use of everything to survive and that efficiency was superior to even overwhelming strength.

It is with the orkra that the Orders of Samurai were formed. Indeed, the Samurai of Drahkabor, being the forebears of all others do not consider any outside their nation as legitimate and will hunt them down at any opportunity. Aside from their battle prowess, they are renowned for their honor which they view as important as their own lives.

They tend to get along the best with the zabrak and view the zeltron as their most hated enemy, despising their pheromone ability and feeling it a great insult to have one’s impulses turned against them and viewing them as nothing more than belonging in dirty brothels that should be burned down (despite the fact that many zeltrons are also great warriors); they also view the asvuur as worthy foes and enjoy entering combat with them.

    Average Height: Male - 6’5” | Female - 6’3”
Skin Tone: Green, Gray or Brown
Hair Color: Black, Gray, Brown, or Dark Auburn
Eye Color: Black, Dark Blue, or Green
    Average Lifespan: ~88 years
    Most Common Elemental Affinity: Ice
    Language: Jurgurzen

The H’trae ~ It is said the H’trae originated in faraway lands beyond even the Southern Infinity, or so the rumors say. Fleeing or migrating away from something forgotten to time, the stone people moved underground and moved unseen by the world above for many generations until they came across the tunnels and passages of a people not made by them. The dwarves. The history between the two races has been long and complicated. It was initially cautious, but friendly. Then cultural differences eventually led to anger and war for many centuries. In time, an understanding was reached and with it, peace was restored. Since then, the dwarves and the H’trae are steadfast friends and allies. They stood with them when the nation of Drahkabor was founded, adopting the other Drahkaborian races as their newest friends.

Patient, calm more often than not, yet unshakably loyal to those they call allies; a H’trae is one of the trustworthy of friends you could ask for. Naturally powerful and almost supernaturally durable, they also make terrible opponents. Often seen as the advisors and mediators of Drahkabor.

Seeing their relation to the earth and rock, they enjoy taking their names from it usually and specific titles or people featuring in their old myths are the names of minerals spelled backwards. A quirk intentionally done that they are rather proud of. This led to them donning the name of the ‘H’trae’ ages ago. While they have long since been converted to worshipping the Auspices as with most races, they do still hold onto their dual gods as well.

D’log being the mischievous God that is constantly set to test the H’trae and make sure they remain worthy of existence. In this, they have tied him to Auspices Fate & Death in modern times. Munitalp is the creator god of the H’trae and their protector, thus tying him to Auspice Life, in charge of all law and order. The Revlis is the title of the H’trae leader. This is very fitting for them.

A favored H’trae saying is as follows: “Beware they who bleed gold.”

This is because the H’trae blood is silver. Seeing as gold is the metallic opposite, it thus has come to mean anything opposite or against H’trae nature. Because of this both silver (directly connected to Munitalp) and gold (directly connected to D’log) are inherently important to them at an extreme level. They do not tolerate the mining of either metal except with great concessions and care. Gold most especially. Silver is akin to their blood and by extension the race’s overall soul, so they don’t take kindly to it being “stolen.” However, gold on the other hand is the very essence of D’log and its widespread use is seen as an almost literal poisonous attack on their culture. D’log’s trickery gives gold the magical property of ensnaring and forever controlling all who spent too much time with it, ultimately turning them against the H’trae at some point to test them. Therefore any gold seen except for exceedingly rare circumstances is not tolerated. A calm H’trae will revert into a raging stone behemoth if they notice any where not allowed.

Due to this, the H’trae were a major force in the formation of Korr Avana’s currency as the old system of gold and silver was immediately abolished the moment they entered into a more open role with the world.

They tend to get along best with the dwarves because of their long history and friendship. Due to many reasons, but most especially their tendency to enjoy shiny things regardless of taboos (namely gold and silver), H’trae rarely can stand the keldbi for long. Furthermore, they view the siren uneasily as they have difficulty understanding their aquatic natures and penchant for seducing members of the opposite gender.

Average Height: Both Genders - 8’
Skin Tone: As variable as the minerals of the earth that makes up Korr Avana
Hair Color: None technically, but what appears as hair is made of the same material and color as their body
Eye Color: Blue, Amber, Orange, Red, Green, or Black
    Average Lifespan: ~520 years
    Most Common Elemental Affinity: Earth
    Language: Suoengi

The Zabrak ~ The zabrak are a fierce people known for living in the central grasslands of Drahkabor long before it became a nation. A tough area with many fierce predators, it hardened them into tough warrior that had a keen sense of self-determination and equally dominant need for independence.

Zabrak are notable for their unique vestigial horns that crown their heads in patterns that vary from individual to individual. They were also known for their facial tattoos that they received during their rite of passage, which can symbolize many things, including but not limited to: family lineage, place of birth, or even a design that reflects their personality. Internally, their biology also gives them a second heart and great resistance to physical pain.

They are a proud, strong, and confident people who are often seen as being single-minded, which is not terribly incorrect. Their self-assuredness being strong enough to give the impression of this as they believe nothing is truly impossible and strive to prove skeptics wrong at every turn.

While some of them carry themselves with an air of superiority toward other races, frequently discussing the achievements of their people with pride bordering near arrogance, there is a deeper reason to this. Indeed, while they tend to be more neutral in views with other races, there is one exception. Humans. More specifically, the humans of Atra Zarryn. For in the past, those humans’ ancestors had enslaved them for 2,000 years. This ended only just under three hundred years ago and their righteous fury still remains as hot as ever. Their ancestors having broken free and escaping into the grassland area they now call home, the zabrak are fiercely protective of their land and new allies…while waiting for the chance to purge their old captives from the world, feeling redemption was not possible for them.

Zabrak tend to get along with the orkra, as they both valued each other’s skills and focus. The original Samurai Orders being the first to extend formal protection to the escaped Zabrak slaves. In reverse, the zabrak most hate the humans of Atra Zarryn for their terrible past, while also believing the strange passivity of the istiel makes them almost unworthy of anything significant thereby straining their relationship as well.

Average Height: Both Genders - 5’9”
Skin Tone: Pale to Dark Brown, Red, Orange, & Yellow
Hair Color: Black, Brown, Blonde, & Red
Eye Color: Yellow, Green, Orange, Brown, Blue, Red, & Purple
    Average Lifespan: ~100 years
    Most Common Elemental Affinity: Thunder
    Language: Zabraki

The Humans ~ Commonly known as the most independent and divided race in all of Korr Avana. Humans are just as they always are and always will continue to be. At once similar and diverse, compassionate and ignorant. Full of the greatest potential highs and the most despicable lows. The most wide ranging in personality and belief from individual to individual, you never know what you are going to get when you meet one.

As far as the Drahkaborian Humans (also known by the name of their language and ancestral tribe: Atarak) are concerned, might makes right. So long as that might is wielded for the cause of many and not just the one, whether a group, a family, the nation, or the world. They have a fairly strict caste system with the most powerful, usually in combat and often with magic, at the top. An individual can move to a preferred caste, if they prevail through grueling tests designed to truly test them to see if they belong where they desire. For personal ambition is fine, but overall efficiency for the people is preferred. However, if you have the might to make right the chains that bind you to your current station, then you deserve to be freed from them and allowed to let free your desires upon the world. Or so the common belief goes.

While the humans of Drahkabor continue to advance, improve, innovate, and all around forge their forward destiny; you will see them still clinging to some practices and dress often considered primitive, tribal, or even primal. Might, at its core, is an inherent root to a person and thus it shows that some cultural traditions should always be honored, no matter the advancements around them. Furs, claw and fang pendants, and tribal paint are still very much preferred among the majority of them.

The Drahkaborian humans tend to get along rather equally amongst the other races of their country, though the orkra could potentially be considered their strongest allies within their own borders. When it comes to enemies, they possess a strong hatred for the Anub-khet who committed a grave massacre of their people and nearly brought them to an end, many centuries ago. Or so it is claimed. To this day, many humans of Drahkabor cling to the dark legend and whisper wishes of revenge for their ancestors. In turn, they also view their fellow humans of Othya with a sense of rivalry due to their great prowess in magic and manipulation of Qi.

    Average Height: Male - 5’7” | Female - 5’2”
Skin Tone: Light to Dark tones
Hair Color: Black, Brown, Blonde, & Orange-Red
Eye Color: Amber, Blue, Brown, Gray, Green, Hazel, & Red
    Average Lifespan: ~85 years
Most Common Elemental Affinity: None/Varies Wildly
    Language: Atarak

    Races of Atra Zarryn

The Centaur ~ As a race strongly connected to the woods and plants, it is no surprise that the centaur are found extremely protective over such areas and mainly originated from the Gaolagh Forest. That forest now being split between Atra Zarryn and Othya being a very outrageous situation for them. They are a very free people and do not mind being nomadic if necessary, and as such can allow such things be as they are. But Gaolagh Forest being their first ancestral home makes it an exception in most centaur’s books.

A centaur is very attuned to signs from the Auspices and most especially, nature, whether real or perceived. Many of them making personal designs based on these sightings, whether minor or major, or with their “gut feelings.” They are helped however in that their sense of intuition is quite high, which often steers such decision making in the right direction anyway. In addition to this, they are very calm and diplomatic by a rule until their passion is stoked. When it is, their anger is a writhing, all-encompassing thing. Centaur are open-minded and value commitment and compromise, but manage to slight one and they’ll never forget it. No matter how small. Grudges are major thing in their culture, many Thaorann (commonly translated to ‘clans’ or ‘families’) will go to great lengths to either get back at or outright ignore other Thaorann just over the smallest of offenses many years ago. This is likely because it is difficult to reach such a point in the first place, but when done, it is viewed as something to be taken seriously. All difficult things should be taken with careful consideration in their opinion.

“To carry upon my back — into the future — feel no worry — for I am here.”

A part of centaur poetry that resonates with a major point of contention with other races. While they will commonly understand the mistake, if it can be helped, do not ask for one of them for a ride. It is considered a grave insult, though it may be forgiven the first time if done out of unintentional ignorance. Problem is, the information is now fairly common, so it gets harder and harder to be forgiven for that. The idea of a centaur allowing any to ride upon their back is seen as the ultimate form of loyalty and trust. If they allow you to, you have done something truly great. That individual will likely do anything for you or the situation you are in is truly that precarious. This view was cultivated in that before, centaur only carry their own that way when one of them is injured and when, some centuries ago, some zabrak attempted to enslave them; forcing those captured to be ridden back to forcibly established villages. This was seen as the extension of a zabrak’s frustration at being enslaved themselves at the time and for those few who escaped on their own, wanting to feel like the masters for a change. Unfortunately for those zabrak, the centaur wiped out the group over time. Still, the memory lingers and only enforced their seriousness over the issue of carrying others.

When it comes to relationships, the centaur tend to get along very well with the Anub-khet. Both find each other mysterious in an alluring way, with their history of cooperation and mutual safety long since cementing themselves as allies. Both being open-minded and more serious than not, plus respecting nature as a whole, being a strong key in their getting along. On the other end of the spectrum, despite the history with the zabrak, it is probably the dwarves they view with the strongest distaste. With their particular form of insular behavior and perceived insults to nature in their expanding quest for minerals, treasures, and “a good time;” they do not mix well at all. While rather accepting of humans in general, especially their fellow citizens of Atra Zarryn, the ones of Othya are another matter. Again, the disrespect for the forest and nature comes into play here, as those humans are staunch advocates of technology and magic, thereby leading to frequent clashes of varying types.

The Anub-khet ~ The Anub-khet (or "jackals" if one is being derogatory) are an ancient race. How ancient, no one really knows, but they maintain that they come from 'the world before.' This claim is disputed, but seeing as they've been around as long as any can remember (even the elves), it just may be true. Further adding to this mystery is they state that in the past they were created at the start, not born. An even older race, greatly advanced in magic, made them as a type of sentient obsidian golem originally, their design uniform due to it being 'pleasing' to them. A vast empire had been constructed with many of these Obsidian Golems being spread out over its length. However, as all things come to an end, a disaster struck which shattered the empire and relatively quickly destroyed the old masters. Even the Anub-khet can no longer remember the form the disaster took and debate on it endlessly amongst themselves.

Nevertheless, only they remained. And as golems they could not procreate, only to be whittled down over the years, bit by steady bit. They despaired until they came upon the Auspices, the first of the 'new world' to do so. This, if nothing else, is fact. For they were the first race to worship the Auspices and slowly brought it to most others, even if not allies, for the Auspices never stated that those who worshipped them had to all get along as far as anyone was concerned. It was with the Auspices, many millenia ago however, that they began to pray to as their numbers whittled down, according to legend. Until there was less than a hundred left. But then...in their only formed city at the time, a miracle occurred. The Auspices gave to them true life, blessing them with organic forms and genders and above all...the ability to create life anew. The Miracle of Qesh-Hasis.

This legend formed everything about them, their identity, their culture, and most individuals overall personalities. More serious than not, deeply philosophical and existential, among the most devoted to the Auspices and respectful of nature, and an immense appreciation of the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Indeed, it is amplified further by the fact that all Anub-khet, male and female, are completely infertile for eleven months of the year, while only one month where they acquire the ability to reproduce. A matter of immense celebration and reverence. It coincides with that moment of awe, that Miracle of Qesh-Hasis. Their most celebrated holiday. Furthermore, while no one race worships Auspice Death as their favored, the Anub-khet can be confidently stated to respect it more than the rest. Though, Auspice Life is clearly the favorite.

When it comes to relationships, they have formed strong bonds with all those who call Atra Zarryn their country...but they are especially protective of the small, and fragile keldbi. Given how much of the world has turned against them and their odds seem to be rather grim, they have likened their situation as similar to those they faced in their origin legend. You will almost never find an Anub-khet turn away or abuse a keldbi. It is practically anathema to them at this point in history. On the other hand, while they appreciate the honorable way the orkra hold themselves...their dominant bloodlust is something they cannot abide nor understand. As such, they view them as their most important adversaries and hope to one day teach them a better way. Or purge them completely if that fails. They also view the often aggressive asvuur with some concern as well, though not to the degree they see the orkra.

The Zeltrons ~ A race made physically distinctive by their skin tone as it comes in varying shades of red, from light pink to deep red. As well as their hair, which could be red, blue, brown, black, or purple. Their appearance is thus very striking, which often works to their advantage due to their infamous reputations. Considered highly attractive to nearly all races, with the notable exception of the H'trae, they wield this and their potent natural ability to directly manipulate pheromones devastatingly well. Add in the extra talent of limited telepathic ability naturally, even if not a mystic, which they used to project their emotions and read the emotions of others...and you have a formidable opponent in the manipulation arena. Especially since good emotions make them feel good and negative emotions actually have an almost physical effect on them, ranging from a headache to mild sickness to even great pain depending on the catalyst.

Zeltrons, despite being current enemies to dwarves, can sometimes get along well over drinks due to their second liver which helped them keep up with the smaller race and sometimes even outdo them. In the end though, everything plays second fiddle to that most instinctive nature to them. Passion. In anything. The two most favored activities being love and war, leading to the renowned phrase "All's fair in love and war." A split that most don't think of, the love being the most commonly accepted and known. But for those on the wrong end of a zeltron's weapon...they learn the truth very fast. Whatever a zeltron does, they do it to the maximum ability or amount possible. For it is their own, great, truth to be able to live to one's fullest limits. This has led to many altercations...and peace talks...over the years with nearly everyone at one time or another.

They once had a kingdom of their own centered around the lands to the west, between the various mountain ranges and the L’ranui Desert. Great storms and frightening tornadoes eventually laid waste to the sprawling cities of Zeltroas that once dominated the landscape there and the zeltrons fled to the east, eventually finding a home among the forests of Atra Zarryn. With the understanding of the Anub-khet and the oddly calming effect they had on them, the zeltrons repaid the hospitality and kindness by pledging themselves to forever aid and protect the Anub-khet, Centaur, and humans that made their homes there.

Zeltrons, it almost goes without saying, get along with everyone despite what may be happening. And though they are forever grateful to the Anub-khet, it is probably their allied humans that they get along best with. They are often viewed as the ones who 'get them' the most or the ones 'the most fun to tease,' especially due to many similarities shared between the races. Conversely, they have trouble with the H'trae because their pheromones do not work on them, which causes them great distress. Not only because is it because its one less weapon to use, but also because should they wish to spread joy...it is much harder for them. Something a zeltron can't stand. But perhaps the greatest enemy of all to them are the siren. Once again pheromones and subtle control being the main issue as the siren are the only other race who can do something similar, thus it has become viewed as a great rivalry bordering on the closest thing to hatred that a zeltron can feel to another as they do not wish to be outdone.

The Keldbi ~ The currently most distrusted race in the world at this time. The keldbi are a short, often frail, inquisitive people. Naturally at home in the desert, they can thrive in almost any condition or climate due to their ability to 'tough it out.' With a quick wit, a sharper mind than most realize, great acrobatic skill, and good speed; they can be quiet lethal if they put their mind to it. Even when there is a lack of nutrients around, they have a biological reserve that is what largely enabled them to survive the harsh L’ranui Desert.

Along with their small frame, they possess a fairly long tail for their size (about half their height in length), and at the tip of it there is some hair. But not just any hair, the hair acts much like a plant with the process of photosynthesis aiding them in turning sunlight into food despite no apparent plant-like biology aside from that. It is no surprise then that they do not like overly long periods in the darkness if it can be helped or without adequate mental preparation before hand. They also have a great obsession with shiny things, most especially silver and gold if they can manage to get their hands on any, much to the chagrin of the H'trae.

In recent years, they have been marked for hatred by almost all races due to the last villainous Overlord of Death was one such member who had spoken of a great, quiet uprising led by his people. It was a lie, a petty attempt from a dying villain to throw some last second unrest into the world. It succeeded and paranoia instantly set in and has been around ever since, enduring for the last 107 years. Wherever they go, the keldbi are often shunned and even outright hunted, forced for the most part out of the desert. This continued until only thirty-two years ago, when the Anub-khet took them in as they arrived within the Atra Zarryn en masse. They, unlike most, had come to an overall consensus that threw skepticism upon the rumors and knew what it felt like to watch one's kind being whittled down over time without anyone listening to their pleas. This has endeared the keldbi to the Anub-khet to an almost fanatical degree.

It is no question that the keldbi most get along with the Anub-khet, nearly worshipping them at times (though this is often frowned upon), but at the very least the diminutive people always do their best to play their part for the country to repay the eternal debt they feel they owe. While many hate the keldbi, they in turn mostly dislike the zabrak and the istiel as the former seem to have the greatest zealous in slaying them (probably because their most beloved zabrak hero that had been killed by the keldbi Overlord) and the latter unnerve them to no end because of their appearance. They feel they are darkness incarnate and thus make them feel as if they are against everything they are.

Originally hailing from an ancestral tribe of people that came from further south, the Zarryn Humans or Vahtaren, have a fairly complicated history. Considering themselves as proponents of nature and order, yet at the same time promoting steadily increasing urbanization and all around progress on the technological front. They view themselves as advocates of justice and generosity, while constantly battling with Drahkabor alongside their allies, but have a period of history where they actually enslaved the zabrak. Something that is still a major point of contention to this day. It is actually a source of shame to most of the humans of Atra Zarryn and they consider themselves as trying to redeem their ancestors for their actions, while still battling the zabrak due to the latter’s aggression. Peace and reparations have long since faded from feasible unfortunately.

The ‘Vahtaren’ are not built as tough and hardy as the ‘Atarak’ or ‘Mranu’ noor seen as slender and refined as their Othyan counterparts. Most often falling somewhere in the middle of the scale when it comes to generalized human sizes and shapes. They like to dress practically and more ‘modern’ in fashion sense than their Drahkaborian counterparts, but also less elegant and flashy as the Othyans.

The Zarryn humans tend to get along the best with the zeltrons, due to a high level of commonality amongst the races and general agreement on what to pursue in life…if not often to the radical zeltron standards. It also helps that both races tend to find each other attractive. When it comes to those they have the most trouble getting along with, it is without a doubt their fellow humans from Drahkabor. The Atarak and Vahtaren having been at each other’s throats since anyone can remember. Modern borders has not changed that much. The Drahkaborian humans’ fascination with strength above all else, leaves them disgusted and perplexed. On the other extreme, the Vahtaren humans also have trouble getting along with the elvestri, not able to tolerate their vanity, clear superiority complex, and over-reliance on magic. The Humans of Atra Zarryn believe in moderation on most things rather than tilting in any one direction. These relationships reflect that.

The Elvestri ~ The lineage and history of the elves is long, rich, and diverse. As fair as all the legends say, as long-lived as the trees and more, and as skilled and elegant as anything one can imagine. Along with all of that and the extreme talent they always possess, they do also have varying levels of personal vanity and a superiority complex on behalf of their entire race which others find suffocating when around them.

For all their strengths and flaws, the elves can possess nobility and wisdom that others should aspire to. This is not true for all perhaps, but one can definitely see it present with the elves whom prefer to be called the ‘Elvestri.’ The elven word that translates to the ‘Elven of Whispers.’ The whispers being that of mana. The whispers that they first heard. The term elf actually being a human word for them that has become common enough that the other two groups elves have adopted it without problem, despite some of the irony that comes with that. The Elvestri, on the other hand, find the name distasteful and any who call them ‘elf’ will quickly find themselves on their bad side.

Long ago, the three elven were all together and united but their discovery of magic, first of all the races (depending on how one takes the words of the Anub-khet), began to unravel everything. Their views of it, its potential, and how to make use of it was divided and it led to a small civil war and an ultimate fracturing of their people. The Elvestri were the ones who first discovered and cultivated magic amongst the elven and saw its splendor in all its glory. Wanting to make absolute use of this new power and discover all its mysteries, while also wishing to spread its existence to all the other races (albeit under their influence and direction), the Elvestri set out to do just that.

Amongst all of the elven, the Elvestri are the most refined and ‘cultured’. Magic is within every nook and crevice of their society, so long as they can find a way to imbue anything with it. Any who view magic favorably will pass their initial judgment of them. While they try to hide it behind polite manners and a smile, any who view magic negatively will be looked down upon. Severely. They do not believe they are being elitist or vain, it is simply objective fact and a pride that has been earned over millennia. Nothing more.

The Elvestri get along well with the istiel, finding them a clearly magical race that gets on with their sensibilities. Their passive nature they find intriguing and makes them agreeable in many conversations, which is also a plus. Not to mention the unique way they view things, especially the discovery of deeper magic, has only ever earned respect from the Elvestri. Whereas their views on the dwarves due to their even daring to challenge the Elvestri’s claims of superiority in smithing, enchanting, and magic at all has earned their ire. The keldbi are also greatly despised but for differing reasons. With the rumors of a possible keldbi uprising, they are viewed suspiciously as well as the sheer fact that the elvestri see them as inferior in every possible way, to even most other races not just them. They consider them clingy, unsightly, and pathetic and have trouble seeing them as having any benefit to the world. Not harsh, just fact after all. The only keldbi that ever showed any promise, in their view, was the past Overlord. And that wasn’t exactly the best example.

The Istiel ~ One would wonder where to even begin with the Istiel. Exceedingly strange and wondrous, the istiel just…appeared in the capital city of Othya one day about seventy-five years ago. Their entire body is compromised of what appears to be stars and the very essence of the cosmos beyond the sky. No one knows why or even how it is possible, but it is plain to see. Despite this, they maintain a very humanoid form and even glowing stars for eyes are in evidence, sometimes a mouth is obvious while sometimes it is harder to spot right away, and they even sport usually glowing hair. It would appear like they would be incorporeal, only just barely clinging to their chosen form, but that is also wrong. You can touch and feel their body just as well as any other race, what’s more, they are described as being incredibly soft to the touch. Their cosmic-looking skin likened to the feel of cashmere wool.

Adding to their unique oddity is their general personality traits. While not true for all, the overwhelming majority are extremely passive in nature. They are inquisitive as well and possess a natural talent for magic most of the time. An istiel is often seen asking polite questions or otherwise being generally ordered or persuaded to do one thing or another. It doesn’t take much to persuade them to do or try something, though no one really knows if that means they’re gullible or they really just don’t mind. Opinions on bigger issues however seem to be different. Once solidified, it becomes almost impossible to change an istiel’s viewpoint.

The voice of an istiel is always soft and while it would not be described as monotone, it can be confused with emotionless from time to time. There has never been a recorded instance where an istiel was yelling and it is very rare when one is angry. So while not without emotion, they are clearly more muted with them than with others. Being so recent to the world, many are still trying to figure them out and they in turn are still trying to figure out the world. Indeed, no one has witnessed an istiel die of old age or sickness yet, though they can be killed like any other.

Istiel desire a peaceful relationship with all someday, but recognize that may not be possible and for now they have responsibilities to defend Othya alongside their allies and friends. And while many would say that the istiel prefer the elvestri above all others, if one had to really determine the ones they like to get closer to…it’s actually the humans. For whatever reason that none have figured out yet, they seem to be the most intrigued by them and will sometimes become rather infatuated with members of the race, following them and learning all they can. It can come across as a little creepy, but it is not ill intentioned. For those the istiel have the most trouble with, the easiest one could point to are the H’trae. Some think it might be that one is more connected to the world than the other, thus creating a natural tension. That might be true and it might not be. Either way, they don’t mesh well and the istiel often find a way under the normally patient H’trae’s stone skin while they in turn rouse a kind of frustation in the istiel, prodding them to combat more often than against any other. Interestingly, they also seem to have an unusually low tolerance of the Anub-khet, seemingly agitated just by their presence. None have determined why as of yet.

    Average Height: Male - 5’8” | Female - 5’10”

The Sirens ~ Sirens, along with the elves, are among the most sung about race. Something that fits rather well with them due to their penchant for singing. For if anyone knows anything about the sirens, it is two things at the very least. They mainly live under the sea and their most beautiful of voices. These highly attractive merfolk naturally live under the water, spent most of their days there and have all their children born beneath the waves. But those upon the surface are not necessarily safe from their enchanting allure, for they have the natural ability to shift their body from their normal aquatic form to a more humanoid form fit for land. While they could stay on land indefinitely if so wished, you would be hard pressed to find one that would, for that itch to return to the sea at some point would inevitably appear. It is where their soul is, so they say.

Now for all the legends of the sirens singing to surface people of the opposite gender (because, yes, the men sing for the women of other races too) just to drown them; investigations have revealed startlingly few of them actually were true. There are cases, but they are the extreme exception rather than anything resembling the rule. But that doesn’t mean they don’t want to lure in the opposite gender of all races, that part is very very true. Indeed, they’re quite proud of it. Open-mindedness breeds compassion which breeds understanding, so they say. With their looks that rival the elves and zeltron, and a voice that is commonly said to surpass the elves and challenge the zeltrons’ pheromones…you have a powerhouse attractor that few can resist. It is because of this that they have a strange love/hate relationship with the zeltrons, both of them at once respecting each other in ways none else can…and hating them for trying to beat them at “their” game.

It goes without saying then that the sirens are usually honest, carefree beings, who care much for their hedonistic pursuits. Despite the legends of siren trickery, they actually seldom lie. They tend to believe their attractiveness will win over everyone and eliminate the need for deceit most of the time. Now while they like to mostly focus on these more pleasurable aspects of life, they do feel deeply on important matters as well and care greatly for their allies. To anger the sirens is to incur the wrath of the deep! They are no slouches on the field or sea of battle, often training their skills both to be ready but also because of the positive effects of staying in shape. On land, they are nowhere as clumsy as some speculate, and can more than hold their own. In the water…they are the lords of their domain and all enemies will quickly learn it. Come overly prepared or be sunk. Their fastest speeds on land are only about two-thirds the speed of a normal human, but in the sea they are a veritable blur as they twist, turn, and jump in every direction.

Sirens get along with everyone, or do their best to do so. But it is clear they are often most content around the elvestri, feeling them their equal in some ways and more able to laugh off their vanity (or otherwise flaunt their own in a friendly rivalry). It is with the elvestri that their alliance and introduction into Othya can be credited due to a plethora of successful diplomatic negotiations and cultural discussions. For those that find themselves more often on their bad side, one would first have to point out the obvious. The zeltrons. That love/hate relationship being on very open, and frequently petty, display. Aside from them, the zabraks can sometimes infuriate them due to their intense streak of independence and single-minded focus able to break the siren song that works so devastatingly well against others. Not to say it doesn’t work on them, but it is harder and they are more likely than the other races to break out of it at some point. Those facts annoy the sirens to put it mildly.

Average Height: Male - 6’ on land, 7’ in water | Female - 5’6” on land, 6’6” in water
Skin Tone: Nearly any skin tone is possible and any color for the scales on their aquatic halves
Hair Color: Blue, Green, Purple, Black, Orange, Red, Blonde, Brown, Silver, or Pink

The Asvuur ~ A warrior race that in recent times has calmed considerably due to the influence of its allies in Othya. They have a natural connection to the element of fire that is still trying to be understood, though some merely wave it off as “the siren have water, the asvuur have fire.” The fire that springs up around them, mostly from their hair, joints, and feet; often only does so during times of heightened emotion. Either good or bad. When positive, the fire does not hurt to touch interestingly.

They originated from the southern reaches of the Great L’ranui Desert, but slowly found themselves migrating eastward until they reached the Qi’yan Sea. This soon led to some unfortunate clashes with Sirens after some misunderstandings took place. Continuing their trek northward along the shoreline, they eventually came upon a battle taking place between Atra Zarryn and Othya. Feeling endangered by the spreading warfare, but not being strangers to fighting…they waded into the fray and soon found themselves, despite not trying to aim for any one group in particular, ending up the decisive different that led to Othya’s victory and Atra Zarryn’s retreat. A tense showdown with the sirens followed immediately after, but the elvestri and humans calmed them so talks could begin out of gratitude. It did not take long for earlier misunderstandings to be forgiven and an offer for a long sought new home to be given. The asvuur agreed eagerly and Othya was more than happy to add a highly capable warrior people to their country.

One of the distinctive features of the asvuur, aside from the fire when it appears, is their glowing eyes, jet black skin that looked nearly like stone (but is not unlike the H’trae), and most notably…their tattoos that regard with great pride. They grow to cover great portions of their body as they age, each telling a story of the individual, their family, and their people. Each design different. They start at the age of ten with the feet only, to show one’s roots. For the feet are the foundation of the body, so too should their markings grow upward. The last thing to be marked is the face, which tells of one’s greatest wisdom. The asvuur value wisdom and martial prowess in equal measure, which led to their ancestors creating the first martial arts that the world of Korr Avana ever saw. All monks came from them at first, with some making the trek into the Great Desert when they still dwelled there, to learn from them. Now the descendents of the oldest orders reside in Othya, much to their allies’ relief.

They do not seek out a fight, hoping peace wins out always; but revel in it all the same when it is upon them. For combat is when one most appreciates life, conflict being a grand part in the order of all things. An art form equal to the rest. This seemingly contradictive nature (to others) often brings about very well rounded and deep perspectives and gives varying personalities from individual to individual. Like humans, they come in many types and are thus hard to peg down specifically like some.

Despite their earliest meetings not going well, the asvuur these days actually seem to get along best with the sirens. Like everyone else, they appreciate their beauty and music, but also remember that though it was not the best first impression…they ultimately were the ones who led them home to Othya. Not something the asvuur are likely to forget for a long time. Plus the lessons of misunderstandings and overcoming them is something to cherish and they wish to spread it alongside them, in hopes of enlightening others. This said, the asvuur do not get along with the orkra, believing they have allowed their aggression to overule what honor they still cling to and have become barbarians who pretend to be something more. They also have trouble with the centaur, though agreeing with many views on nature, they have had too many conflicts in their battles and have earned grudges. Their inability to look beyond grudges, once made, causes nothing but scorn in the asvuur’s eyes.

Now the humans of Othya were originally a part of the ancestral tribe known as the Vahtaren that once was from further south. This is an ancestry they share with the humans of Atra Zarryn and something that keeps the two groups from feeling overly hostile to one another, though they will fight each other for the sake of their countries when they must. Their cause of their split was an expeditionary sea voyage gone wrong. Some remained behind, these were the Vahtaren who went onto eventually join Atra Zarryn. While the seafarers wanted to search for lands far beyond the Qi’yan Sea, a terrible storm wrecked their ships and drowned many of them. The survivors washed up on the eastern shore of the Isle of Thayael instead and these were the ancestors of the Othyan humans today.

Despite their initial disdain, the Elvestri elected to aid the humans by giving them medical attention, food, and shelter. Not being far from the mainland, they could have easily given them transportation back to the others of the Vahtaren, but the Elvestri were cautious of their secrets and layout of their cities...things that were now seen. The humans were honestly grateful and while 'inferior' did do their best to assist and otherwise make up for the hospitality and protection to their saviors. Some eventually even showed signs of potential that the Elvestri had not thought possible among their kind. Over time, they struck an agreement of alliance and vowed never to spill each other’s secrets. After this the elvestri then offered them a way back home. The humans declined, coming to find the Isle as their new home and feeling like they had begun to adopt their customs enough that they did not feel much kinship with those who had stayed behind. They took the name of the Thayael, after the Isle itself, and the elvestri gave their blessing.

From there, one can easily see the elven influence on the Thayael humans. Everything magic, science, and progress. While their personalities vary greatly from individual to individual, like all humans, it is notable that their overall levels of vanity are slightly higher than others of their species. Another elven influence. They take pride in handling the 'small things' that the elvestri always only did out of necessity (and were more than happy to see the humans offer to take such tasks over for them), but even more when they demonstrate that their talents can equal even that of their allies on the more important things.

They get along well, unsurprisingly, with the Elvestri but even more with the sirens. Their mesmerizing appearances and voices playing well to human sensibilities as expected. The Thayael humans however, influenced by old rumors that are still disputed, have trouble with the Anub-khet and often feel they are darker and more sinister people than they on and have trouble accepting that their old cousins are allied with. The common fear is that perhaps the humans of Atra Zarryn are being manipulated in some way. Over on the side of Drahkabor, they most have issue with their own kind. The Atarak humans. In almost every way, they view them as more barbaric and backward. The fact that they are also of the same race bothers them greatly, like an ugly mirror.

    Races of Yerkoskei

The Kitsune ~ Long thought of as only myth, the kitsune have ever been anything but. No one knows how long their race have existed on Korr Avana, not even they. One thing is for certain however. They have been around a very, very long time. For most of recorded history, they have lurked on the edges of society and frolicked seemingly only in the deepest areas of wilderness. Sightings have occurred in every region of the known world, only heightening the stories. This all changed over two hundred years ago, during the reign of the keldbi Overlord, when they seemed to quietly gather together for the first time and approached the Illithid away from prying eyes. What transpired is only known to those with the highest office among their respective kinds, but suffice to say, the kitsune warned the often reviled illithid of a great danger. A danger so credible and disastrous, it forged 'the eternal union.' What they call their alliance that led to the creation of Yerkoskei some time later, that pledges that neither race would ever turn on the other.

Many have died trying to learn what the source of this was. Many more will continue to do so, for if the kitsune are masters of anything...it is trickery. Evasion. Deception. Seduction. Sabotage. Illusionists and performance artists of a caliber so high even the elves have trouble picking out truth from lies. "As subtle as sin," is often used to describe them. However, this works against them as well as they quickly find others outside of their country tend to be slow to trust them due to these facts.

As people have learned since their public debut, the kitsune are impossible to pin down. Their personalities may vary from individual to individual, but all enjoy 'to play.' Both physical activities and intellectual exercises, whether that be academia or mercilessly leading hopeful paramours along. Most (thought not all) tend to project a calm, demure, thoughtful persona while inside they are bursting at the seams with energy, passion, and mischief. In the end, what most don't understand is that the vast majority of a kitsune's actions are actually harmless, if not done on behalf of their country (in which case, all bets are off). Such behavior is their way of being playful and a way to exercise that most underlying of motivations for them. Curiosity. How people interact and react is fascinating to them, it is simply how they learn the world. Any hurt emotions they believe they can make up for later. Any minor injuries, asked for forgiveness and a pledge to heal personally. Anything more is usually accidental and would be horrifying to them, especially since they are experts at carefully maintaining whatever 'play' they are doing.

They are amazing infiltrationists, to the point that many know it is being done but can't figure out how to actually stop it. Or even detect it. They use these skills and their curiosity to leverage information as their safety net and bargaining chip with others, rather than anything malicious. Still, over the last couple of centuries they have been educated, quite painfully, on how well some take to their secrets being learned. It is actually baffling to a lot of kitsune, thinking secrets as nothing more than just another game...something one does to challenge another to earn it. They have learned otherwise since, but it is still a hard concept for them to grasp.

One of the few things noticed and learned by others is that they are only born with one tail and that another tail grows every hundred years after their hundredth birthday. With each tail possessed, they seem to get a little stronger magically.

The kitsune, due to the 'eternal union', get along best with the illithid. Something that once would have been unthinkable. They do not always agree, but their respect usually overrides any other such negative thoughts they have for one another. They do their best not to think too negatively of others, but the races they have the most trouble getting along with are the H'trae and the Istiel. Both for the same reason. They are hard to figure out, even for them…but then. They do love a good challenge.

Average Height: Both Genders - 5’8”
Skin Tone: Light to Dark tones, much like humans
Hair Color: Any Color, same with the fur on their ears and tails
    Eye Color: Any Color
    Average Lifespan: ~1,000 years
Most Common Elemental Affinity: Psi (more kitsune wield psionics rather than magic), Fire (for those who do)

The Oovi-Kat ~ An interesting, very extroverted race. As with all the other races within Yerkoskei, they are greatly misunderstood. That happens when your people appear part-plant. Despite their appearance, the keldbi are more plant-like than the Oovi-Kat. The oovi-kat, originating from the Narahul Jungle, evolved to have their body mimic their surroundings and as such their tails came to appear like vines and leaves. Add in their chameleon ability and great acrobatics and they are extremely adept at moving around unseen, especially in the wild.

Seemingly as a rule, Oovi-Kat are inquisitive, expressive, resilient, nimble, and energetic people...often to the point of people labeling them as hyperactive. Above all though, the oovi-kat are rather innocent at heart and refuse to engage in violence of any kind. They understand the need to defend one's home after being ousted from the jungle by the elves, but still dislike the idea of fighting. Instead they operate solely as agents or scouts, giving warning long before danger arrives. You will always find an oovi-kat in a Yerkoskei diplomatic group, if not as the negotiator, then as one who is watching and learning...and inevitably asking questions at the end.

Sadly, they are the shortest lived race and some speculate if it has anything to do with their perpetually high energy levels. Regardless, they view it as their mission to spread their bubbly personalities and bring peace wherever they can, while learning about the world from their unique vantage points and protecting their friends and allies...in their own way.

The oovi-kat love all, but they are particularly fond of the Xskiva, their mentality about peace being much the same and the Oovi-Kat being quick to forgiveness for past sins. They do not begrudge the fact that their insectoid friends are more willing to fight, as everyone else is in comparison to them, but they seem to reciprocate each other's thoughts well in most cases. The two people that the oovi-kat cannot get along with despite past attempts, at all, are the Jungle Elves who ousted them from their ancestral homes in the jungle. As well as the zabrak who all too often seem too focused on anger and exacting their perceived form of justice against their enemies to listen to the oovi-kat's messages of hope and unity.

    Average Height: Male - 5’ | Female - 5’2”

The Xskiva ~ The lone insectoid race of the world, the Xskiva have relatively recently gone through their worst nightmare of a time. But having gone through the fires of their own making, they have emerged burnt but still alive. Where they have given up power, they have gained wisdom. For among the Xskiva, it was their monarch who was the last Dark Ovelord the world had known, just a little over a hundred years ago. And they had rallied behind him to conquer all of Korr Avana, from their capital on the far western shores of the continent. They nearly succeeded too before the Heroes of the time brought it all crashing down.

In the aftermath...their empire was destroyed, capital utterly razed to the ground, their Overlord dead, reputation torn to shreds, and the vast majority of their race eradicated. Where once their high birth rates allowed them to reach an astonishing population of one million (their conquest oft being called the 'March of the Million'), now they number at less than a thousand. In their bid for power and control, they committed unspeakable acts of evil in their leader's name...and the survivors have been forced to confront that truth ever since. But this ability to stare at it despite the pain, is what has begun to lead them down the path of redemption in recent years. You will never hear an Xskiva argue against the acts of horror they did. Instead they will quietly agree and ask for forgiveness. They accept whether one gives that forgiveness or not with a worldview that has been so thoroughly humbled.

The xskiva have a few different subspecies that look different from one another, but you can always tell one when you see them. They all have wings, though they are often not the strongest and can only carry them for limited times, and they all have four arms which they can coordinate very well. Their personalities vary drastically, like many others, though there is more of a common theme now. That humbleness that comes from being completely defeated and forced to acknowledge that their loss was just. Each and every xskiva strives to prove that they can learn from their mistakes and work to better themselves, their people, and their new allies in Yerkoskei who have given them a second chance. Indeed, it is because of this that they are often the voices of reason amongst the leaders, a stark contrast from before. As extension to their quest to prove themselves, they have come to a consensus that they must limit their own numbers until they feel they have truly learned all of their lessons. They are adamant that the future generations of xskiva never repeat their past mistakes. As such, they hold back and only very carefully procreate amongst themselves, keeping their numbers low intentionally. Yet another form of penance that is all the more poignant for those who realize how quickly they could bolster their numbers again if they wished to. Their allies in Yerkoskei are not even preventing them from doing so, it is all their own decision.

An xskiva is generally well rounded in ability, but now more than ever, will be seen to be extremely pensive and conservative in their decisions. They are very grateful to Yerkoskei for giving them a chance, especially knowing that they would have refused to join the other main countries because they deliberately doing their best to avoid warfare at all costs. They are afraid of getting caught up in it again because of their low numbers, but also because they fear turning into the demons they once were and not wanting their friends to turn into them either, regardless of their own pasts. Should such a situation arise again with their new nation, it is unknown what they will do. But it can be surmised that they will all initially panic, down to the last individual without exception.

The Xskiva get along very well with the oovi-kat, feeling their typical radiant personalities are a balm to the soul. They often instruct them in their hard-earned wisdom and readily accept what they have to teach in return. In this way, they are often especially protective of the younger oovi-kat. Indeed, of all children. Even that of opposing countries, valuing their still clung-to innocence and not wanting it jeopardized. The centaur and the humans of Othya are different. While the xskiva do not begrudge them their tarnished appearance in their eyes, the xskiva find themselves particularly disadvantaged against them for they are the races who most ardently refuse to listen to a single word they say for their atrocities. This both saddens and frustrates them, thereby creating a relationship of perpetual tension.

The Illithid ~ There's not much that isn't said about the illithid, the vast majority of it negative and gruesome outside of their nation. Much of it...true. The illithid have dark reputations that have been well earned, whether they like it or not. Most often, they don't really care what others think and just keep doing what they wish to. Both an admirable and troubling trait. Outside of Yerkoskei, they tend to feature as the monster in the dark or the terrible villain in some story, for they have played the part in Korr Avana history many times in the past. Still do in some respects. They don't really mind it, sometimes using it to their advantage if need be. However, it is true that if one would look closely, such gruesome acts have toned down considerably since the formation of their allied country. Many can thank the kitsune for that, if nothing else.

It is also true that the illithid have the nickname, "mind flayers." And they've earned it. With their legendary interrogation capabilities and their...exotic diets, it is only a natural consequence. The only ones who can compare to them in the information gathering department, on average, are the kitsune. This makes their alliance particularly concerning to the other races. Furthermore, they have natural telepathy, though it only seems to work on members of their own species. They have to speak verbally to others or enhance their abilities with conventional Mystic training. And no one can see in the dark better than the illithid, something that has them claiming their darkvision as 'supreme' in comparison to others. Indeed, it has even been theorized by others (for the illithid keep quiet on facts, letting rumors do most of the work) that they see better in the dark than in the sunlight.

Though the scariest thing about them, if you ask anyone, is the way they introduce their young into the world. When it is time for an illithid to be born, their mother injects them into a host. Often a sentient host, at least in the past. They then feast on the host's brain before using their first sustenance outside the womb to strengthen them in emerging from the body for the first time. It is one of few facts the illithid have confirmed to the public...merely for the effect it garnered. It is said the practice is no longer quite as abhorrent or used on sentient races, for the sole reason of gaining allies, but who truly knows with them. The illithid likes keeping distant and atop the flow of information, rather than giving it or wading into any fray if possible.

Due to their 'eternal union' established with the kitsune after that race warned them long ago of a mysterious threat, so great and unexpected for them, they now consider them in high regard and will often go out of their way to aid them. Even changing some facets of their culture to facilitate the creation of Yerkoskei with them, for all of their sakes in the future. What that threat was is kept in the dark to most. On the other hand, the illithid's superiority complex, natural predatory instincts, and various other reasons; leads them to not get along well with keldbi in almost any situation. They also have trouble with humans of any country except their own, viewing their brains as the tastiest of all. Understandably, the humans aren't exactly fond of that while the humans of Yerkoskei are very grateful to be their allies instead, and as such, considered exempt from the illithid's predatory gaze.

Originating from the mountain range to the west that had bordered the Great L’ranui Desert, the humans of Yerkoskei were part of an ancestral tribe known as the Mranu. These Mranu Humans were a tough, hardy people that knew how to make efficient use of whatever resources were on hand. Given their living conditions and natural resilience, at least in comparison to other humans, they are very durable and can more than hold their own in a fight. Magic is not rare for them, but it is markedly less common than the other human groups and you can see that being balanced out by the great quality of non-magic fighters they have. It is for these reasons that they are unsurprisingly the bulk of Yerkoskei’s fighting force, given their allies.

The Mranu’s decision to leave the mountains was not an easy one for them. They were fiercely proud of their homeland, but they were eventually set upon by the Fire Elves when they began their expansion. They fought valiantly but were hopelessly overmatched and slowly being killed. That is, until the kitsune and illithid showed up. Giving vital information that they had learned, the illithid helped them slow down the Fire Elf advance and buy them time, while the kitsune showed them a way to escape the mountains that had previously been thought of as completely blocked off. It was hardest to convince them to leave, but eventually they succeeded. It was life or death. Now they remain grateful and loyal to their most surprising of allies, while waiting for the day they can march together to get their revenge and take back their old home.

The Mranu humans get along best with the kitsune compared to all others, given their aid in saving them and overall similarity to them. They also have a mutual training with one another. The humans making the kitsune better warriors and the kitsune teaching more magic to them in return. Alternatively, it comes as no surprise to anyone that they hate the Fire Elves more than any other. Any chance to wipe them off the face of Korr Avana would be a welcome one in their eyes. From their old home, they also still maintain highly negative views of the Ogres who had once beset them often. While they do not encounter each other as often anymore, their relationship hasn’t improved one bit.

    Classes & Specializations

In parentheses to the right of the specializations, it is shown what their specialty is. For those who do not know, Tank means one who often fights defensively and can take lots of damage so their allies do not. Balance means a specialization that is equal between Offensive and Defensive capabilities. Damage (or DPS…Damage Per Second in gamer lingo) means purely that, a spec that is all about dealing as much damage as possible against their opponents. Protection means fighting defensively like the ’Tank’, but not in the way where they take damage. Instead they shield their enemies in other ways. Crowd Control means they are masters of using abilities that can manage large groups of enemies and keep them busy so they can be whittled down. Ranged Damage means basically that, dealing damage from a distance, either with magic, bows, guns, etc. Healer is very self-explanatory. Healing is the main purpose of the specialization.

Any classes that are typically non-magical, can still have their player choose one magic skill so long as they have the prerequisite. But only one and it can only be maxed out to mid level (5 SP).

Furthermore, classes that are predominantly magical (Mage, Warlock, Druid, & Healer [minus War Healer spec]) can only have their Weapon Skills maxed out to mid level (5 SP). No more than 2 weapon skills at that level.

Mystics can instead have only one Weapon Skill maxed out to 7 SP.

Gunners can choose between only one Magic Skill or two Weapon Skills to max out at mid level, 5 SP.

Paladins can choose between only one Magic Skill or one Weapon Skill to max out at 7 SP.

    *****

Warrior - Knight (Tank), Samurai (Balance), & Berserker (Damage)

Your tried and true fighters in the field, wading into melee range to deal devastating damage to their enemies. Not magical by nature, but nevertheless very powerful. Those with magic should never take them lightly just because they do not possess it.

Rogue - Assassin (Damage via Ambush), Ghost (Ultra Stealth), & Swashbuckler (Combat Damage)

As can be as evidenced by one of the specializations, they are the assassins and ones who sneak around the battlefield. Giving high bonuses to stealth related skills and also not being magical. Enemies, magical or not, should be careful. Rogues are meant to be feared.

Gunner - Sniper (Long Range), Duelist (Intermediary & Speed Focus…Handgun Specialty), & Soldier (Intermediary & Power Focus…Rifle Specialty)

In the world of Korr Avana, firearms are relatively new, as in the last few centuries. Nevertheless, they are showing a small rise in popularity and their easy mixing with magic only makes it that much more of an option on the battlefield. Equal opportunity with those with magic or not.

Mage - Battlemage (Damage), Shieldmage (Protection…but not individual tank), & Summoner (Crowd Control)

The premiere magical class. The powerful magicians of the world, with all that entails. Bow before them or cut them down swiftly if you choose not to die a painful death yourself. High bonuses to Arcane Magic.

Warlock - Necromancer (Crowd Control, ‘lock can be Balanced), Demonologist (Tank Demon & Lock is ranged support), & Hexblade (Pure Damage and ‘lock is melee fighter)

The magicians that don’t just stereotypically deal with dark magic (some actually don’t!…But it is rare admittedly), but also deal with the summoning and pact formation with a demon minion that assists them in combat.

Druid - Elementalist (Ranged Damage), Guardian (Healer), & Shifter (Damage or Tank Shapeshifter)

A magical class that focuses primarily on nature when plying its trade. High bonuses to up to three Elemental Magics, moderate to healing, and of course the class exclusive ability to shape-shift into various beasts.

Monk - Qi Healer (Healer), War Monk (Damage), & Defender (Tank)

With the manipulation of energy within the body known as Qi, these martial artists can take anyone around them by surprise. Qi is not magic, but its application can sometimes appear so. With heightened physical abilities and other various techniques, monks are equally versatile.

Paladin - Protector (Tank), Avenger (Damage), & Sentinel (Balance)

In Korr Avana, the Paladins espouse the various Auspices they choose to serve specifically (Paladins of Death, Discord, and Enigma are unheard of however), they are the best of both worlds. Combing great physical ability and magical might, they can handle any situation and be an incredible ally to their friends.

Artificer - Demolitionist (Ranged with Explosives Specialty), Golemancer (Ranged Support with Golem ‘Tanks’), & Repeater (Sentries and drones that can fire quickly/Anti-Rogue)

While firearms are relatively new, in Korr Avana, artificers are very new. As in the last ten years new. Utilizing the budding sciences of engineering along with the old magical school of Golemancy that had been going extinct, that they have chosen to revive to pair with their abilities…they can very useful on the battlefield. Magic and technology infused into the creation of golems or other mechanical constructs, they can be great fighters. So long as they themselves keep a healthy distance from their enemies.

Hunter - Ranger (Crowd Control with Combat Pet), Marksman (Ranged Damage, no pet) , & Stalker (Anti-Rogue with Combat Pet)

Whether master archers or not, hunters often pair themselves with a pet in combat in a devastating one-two combination that many fall before the onslaught of. Marksman Hunters can be magical, but the others are not as they rely on their pets to balance out their weaknesses.

Healer - Exorcist (Healer who can Damage against demons and undead), Restoration (Pure Healer), & War Healer (non-magic medic who can be Ranged Support with decent Damage potential)

The name says it all. On the battlefield and while you’ll never see them cutting swaths of enemies down like their peers, one could easily argue that they are the most important piece of the war puzzle. They heal and resurrect their allies. Restoration Healers can even buff or enhance their allies with magic, while War Healers do not possess magic but their skills at conventional healing are still great. This is offset by restoring a higher combat ability so they are not as far behind as their more martial brethren.

Mystic - Mentalist (Ranged Damage), Psion (Tank or Damage, Melee), & Shaman (Psionic Healer)

The psychics of Korr Avana, often in positions of reverence in some form or another, though seemingly in a slight decline. Their abilities can be focused in any of the specialized ways, but they are truly extremely versatile in what they can accomplish. A special branch of magic that many do not know how to guard against.

    Magic and Psionics

As a player with any ounce of magic upon the learning of a magic skill, one must pay close attention to their Mana Bar, which is visible to them right underneath their Health Bar seemingly floating in midair to the upper left of their vision (but still noticeable without issue) and only visible to them. Every spell or psionic exertion takes up a certain amount of mana, which the player will have to become keenly aware of. Mana regenerates over time, but if one uses too much too quickly, the magic user will have to wait awhile before they can cast again potentially getting themselves into a vulnerable situation.

Lastly, to cast magic (unless a Mystic), you need Sharathal! But what is that? Read on…

In-World Lore, however, works like this ~

The individual source of magic is intrinsic or biological to those with the gift. They are born with it, though the true source of all magic is unknown. It is commonly assumed it is just a natural part of the world that is typically unseen to the naked eye, much like air.

This innate magic can be ‘activated’ or ‘molded’ by the caster feeling or ‘tapping’ into the mana within them, and focusing on a deep truth regarding the meaning of one of the Auspices governing the world. Any one of them will do, though most casters only ever choose one or two. From this, there is an unseen area around them that is ‘charged’ and ready to be manipulated. A Personal Mana Field, known as the Hekakhen.

The final requirement for casting magic is something called Sharathal or Mana Fuel, that is special depending on the ‘grade’ you wish to use. They can come in vials, jars, tanks, or other varying sizes. They need to be on the caster’s person somewhere and are not to be ingested. They are the lighter fuel to the molded mana’s flame, the magic being cast being the result.

This fuel depletes as if evaporating as magic is cast. The bigger, stronger, and longer held…the faster and/or more drained it becomes. A common anti-mage tactic for non-magic fighters is to locate where these fuel vials or jars are held on the person and attempt to smash them, thus nullifying their ability quickly.

Psionics works similarly in principal, but differentiates itself from typical magic. One’s innate magic is molded just like normal mana but instead of the caster focusing on a deep truth regarding an Auspice, they are focusing on a deep truth regarding oneself. This deploys the unseen Hekakhen just like a mage would.

However, the differences start here. A psionic user does not require any mana fuel to manipulate their powers into reality as their power springs directly from the mind, also internal rather than external. While they eliminate the need to rely on an external component to their abilities, their strain on mental focus and stamina becomes far greater. There is also the need of physical stamina as well, as the body and mind are interconnected. There are also strict limits to the upper strength of power. One can only apply power to something and do no more than 3x the energy their body would take to accomplish the same thing. Physical augmentation via psionics also can no more than double the original physical effectiveness. To increase the effects, the Mystic would need to train their body just as much as their mind.

The Grades of Sharathal or Mana Fuel

The grades matter in that the better the grade, the more one can accomplish with the least amount of mana evaporation. “More bang for the buck,” so to speak. On occasion, one may even feel a slight surge in power and critical chance just from using better Sharathal.

Auspice-Level Sharathal ~ Gold Liquid (This is extremely rare and the only gold a H’trae likes…what do I mean? See the Races section)
Supreme Sharathal ~ Silver Liquid (Also rare, if not nearly as much as Auspice Level)
    Master Sharathal ~ Purple Liquid
    Refined Sharathal ~ Blue Liquid
    Common Sharathal ~ Red Liquid
    Poor Sharathal ~ Orange Liquid
    Unrefined Sharathal ~ White Liquid
Volatile Sharathal ~ Pulsing Green Liquid (Best used only if desperate, otherwise avoid)

    About Qi

Qi is an inherent energy source within all living beings that can only be truly harnessed by those trained in the ways of the martial arts loving monks. It is akin to life force and even 'spirit energy.' Some even consider it another brand of magic. Some would agree while others would argue.

Nevertheless, Qi can be used mainly for physical augmentation in all areas. The better one's training, the more they can do and the more they can do simultaneously. Enhancement of one's speed, strength, agility, durability, vision, hearing, and even a better self-healing ability. Among much more. This healing, however, is still inferior to the powers of a Healer; unless specifically specialized toward healing. See 'Classes and Specializations.' So the stronger the monk is at their natural abilities, the greater they are when activating their Qi...which is why they train so often. In so doing and because it is a core part of oneself, many monks often start coming to view it as a very personal experience transcending simple physical fitness and desire for power.

At higher levels, inner Qi can be molded, manipulated, and even drawn out to form brilliant Qi Blasts of varying types, sizes, and power. It visually appears as a glowing light source or even aura around the monk utilizing it, with each color being personal to the individual.

The duration of qi enhancement is always half of the player's level in minutes (with the duration being 30 seconds at Level 1).

When it comes to Skill Points (SP), consider this: At 1 point in vitality, any qi used to enhance the monk makes their abilities temporarily increase 1.5x their normal. (A strength of 2 SP can then briefly be acted like it was 3 SP, for example) At 3 points in vitality, natural abilities increase 2x their normal. At 5 points, abilities would increase to 3x their normal. At 7 points, abilities would increase to 4x their normal. At 9 points, abilities would increase to 5x their normal.

And finally, at 10 points; abilities would increase to 6x their normal.

    Empire of Drahkabor

The Empire of Drahkabor is a battle hardened country of great strength. Formed roughly eight hundred years ago after a bloody battle between the Orkra and the allied Dwarf and H’trae armies. It was a minor victory to the orkra, but the leading general at the time saw a glimpse of the future. A potential to be grasped, rather than cleaved in half with a blade. General Hur’ken called the dwarven and H’trae leaders to peace talks and instead of leveraging any advantages won, praised their strength and bravery, and offered an alliance. It was the Revlis of the H’trae that often mediated clashing ideas of what the alliance would look like that ultimately had it become a success over the course of eight long days and nights.

The three of them remained like this for a long time before bringing in the Zabrak to their fold during the height of the Keldbi Overlord’s reign. The Atarak Humans not long after, though that initially caused some friction with the Zabrak. However, these humans were nothing like the humans the Zabrak had escaped slavery from, with their distaste for their mutual enemy both being highly palpable. This aided in the improving of relations between them, if still slow.

All members of the Empire are said to have equal power and rights, but the main ruler is the Empress. The orkra Greah Vornak, a woman of immense strength both physical and magical, whose ultimate goal is of no secret to anyone. Indeed, she practically bellows it across the world as a proud challenge.

Drahkabor will stand tall above all others!

They will conquer Korr Avana and bring all of its lands under their banner, proving their might the whole way. But the current Empress’ aims are not to subjugate ruthlessly; she wishes to break her enemies so they understand the truth of Drahkabor then allow them equal rights and opportunities so they can take part in its greatness and extoll its might alongside them.

However, the races of Atra Zarryn have been particularly troublesome in this regard and have long since become the most hated enemies of the Empire. Their ongoing war having now lasted for seventy-five chaotic years.

While Drahkabor appears to have equal representation in all areas from its member races, the largest bulk of the military are the orkra and zabrak. The majority of the laborers and artisans are dwarves and humans. And the majority of the most powerful magical leaders, doubling as frequent advisors and mediators, are the H’trae.

Atra Zarryn: Hostile relations have led to open warfare for the last seventy-five years. There is no current sign of peace talks nor any clear advantage to either sign in the conflict.

Othya: Tense relations with moderate trade agreements despite it. There is occasional battle between the two nations, with ceasefires quickly made after. Occasionally will assist the other in battle against Atra Zarryn, if mutually beneficial. The Othese can get permits to traverse Drahkabor, if they can prove themselves individually worthy.

Yerkoskei: Relations are uneasy, but no open hostility has been present. Information, as always, keeps the Yerkoskei free from Drahkaborian aggression currently but it has also been a crucial component of trade between the two as well. For the time being, the Yerkoskei are allowed to traverse Drahkabor freely, without any need of permits.

Pyriuth Supremacy: Hostile relations have led to frequent warfare between the two, mostly over Lake Mag’lurel. Given the Drahkaborian focus against Atra Zarryn, that has been no clear development in their conflict and is thus considered even currently.

Ravańor: Very little interaction, but relations have not been good thus far. Both sides’ willingness to test each other in combat has not helped matters. The Empress and the other Leaders of Drahkabor have not made any public declaration regarding the Southern Jungle as of this time.

    Republic of Atra Zarryn

Regarding the modern multi-racial nations of today, the Republic of Atra Zarryn is easily the oldest. It all began with the friendship of the Anub-khet and the Centaur. It did not take long before it became a formal alliance and with it, the creation of Atra Zarryn in its earliest incarnation just a little over two thousand years ago. The respect of nature as they lived in the densest area of forest in Korr Avana, the Ta-wadj Forest (now more commonly known as Greenhearth), was strong and it proved pivotal for those who would join them in the future. The Vahtaren Humans did so four hundred years ago, though their practice of slavery at the time was heavily frowned upon and their newfound friends did their best to gradually wear away the practice.

Though the manner of how slavery was abolished was not the best, a hundred years later, the Anub-khet and Centaurs were glad to rid the practice from their lands regardless and helped the humans with beginning their road to redemption from it. Not long after this, with the contributions of the humans, Atra Zarryn officially became a republic…and also began to face more and more tension with their northern neighbors. Also around this time was the arrival of the zeltrons after their kingdom, Zeltroas, had been destroyed by numerous natural disasters. This only aided the new republic further.

As one can see from its history, it is a country that very much likes to keep to itself and simply exist off the land, but has a deep root in justice, penance, and stewardship that allowed it to periodically incorporate new members within it with little problem. This was again put on display a little over two hundred years ago when the keldbi were brought into the fold primarily by the Anub-khet given the extreme situation they found themselves in everywhere else. Given their ties to the, at the time, most recent Dark Overlord…it was a risky gambit and caused the most stir of those within the republic, but eventually they have found themselves glad of it. The Champions of Quiet Morality is a nickname some have given the Zarryns, and can be heard earnestly by those who look on them favorably or mockingly by those who disdain the nation and feel it is nothing more than show or a form of vain self-righteousness.

Those of Atra Zarryn don’t really care what the others say and attempt to just continue as they always have, while now facing the open threat of Drahkabor who have begun trying to march in conquest throughout the world with their last few leaders. The war, now seventy-five years long, continues to drag out, but the Zarryns cling to their claims of justice and vigils against evil to help power them on.

Their leadership has many elected officials and headed by the Arch-Exemplary of each race, whom each have a term of ten years. There is no one leader that is greater than the other, though politics always gives someone more influence than the rest for stretches at a time. At present, Arch-Exemplary Menkuth Akusaa is that leader. A cautious, conservative leader who is often whispered to be willing to give his own life for his nation before sacrificing any other, were it required.

One will find that most races have fair amount of representation in every field, but there are some notable standouts. The majority of the political leadership are dominated by the Anub-khet. The military by the centaurs and humans. The various laborers and artisans of Atra Zarryn are dominated by the zeltrons. The keldbi have yet to find a field to really become ‘dominant’ in, but they are rising in every field. Especially the field of magic where are rising in prominence rather sharply, something that worries the races of other lands. The centaur still have the majority there, but their tutelage of ‘the little ones’ is a source of pride.

Drahkabor: Hostile relations have led to open warfare for the last seventy-five years. There is no current sign of peace talks nor any clear advantage to either sign in the conflict.

Othya: Calm relations with significant trade agreements. Yet, there is the occasional battle between the two nations, with ceasefires quickly made after. Occasionally will assist the other in battle against Drahkabor, if mutually beneficial. Except when battle was done within the last week, the Othese and Zarryn are allowed free travel amongst their countries.

Yerkoskei: Relations are tense but no open hostility has been present. Information, as always, keeps the Yerkoskei free from any Zarryn retaliation for espionage efforts, but it has also been a crucial component of trade between the two as well. Yerkoskei merchants are allowed to traverse Atra Zarryn, but under heavy watch.

Pyriuth Supremacy: Hostile relations have led to constant warfare between the two, mostly across the mountains on their mutual border. For the moment, Atra Zarryn seems to have a slight upper hand but it can change at any moment, especially with efforts also being expended against Drahkabor to the north.

Ravańor: There is occasional interaction, but not heavy. Relations are an uneasy neutral, but there have been conflicts sprung out of misunderstanding every so often, which Zarryn diplomats are quickly forced to placate the Jungle Elves so things don’t spiral out of control.

    Kingdom of Othya

The Kingdom of Othya began, as the Elvestri would be proud to point out if ever brought up, with them. On the Isle of Thayael, they held great power and delved into the whispers of magic. Investigated the mysteries of the world. Defended their realm.

All of this led them to become the first people to encounter the Sirens of the Sea, establishing an old friendship that would last millennia into the current day. Eventually that friendship would evolve into a formal alliance, the two understanding the logic behind such a move well. It was only really when the group of Vahtaren Humans washed up on the eastern shores of Thayael over six hundred years ago, that the greater design of Othya was put into motion however. As they formed an alliance themselves over time and created the Kingdom, they realized that they would need to expand outside of the Isle. Not too much, they had no plans for conquest, but they would need more than just the island for their own safety and self-reliance on behalf of resources. Naturally, this wasn’t entirely a welcome prospect from the other nations, though Atra Zarryn did sell some of its land to Othya in the early days. Something they regretted during later conflicts when Othya used military force to take more. That said, the two don’t actually battle often and generally have strong enough ties that they can resort to diplomacy to quell the worst the aftermath of any fight.

This is also true with Drahkabor as well, despite more intense fighting on the most northern expansion of Othese history, due to their respect for their opponents’ strength. The Othese generally have no wish for enemies however, being fairly content now with the lands they possess, and merely wish to trade, explore, and advance their research into magic and science. With the still relatively recent arrival of the Istiel and their subsequent joining of the Kingdom, that seems to be continuing rather well.

Now as you tour their lands, you will often see great sprawling cities of innovation and magical crystals, floating towers, and wonders abound. Some speculate that if Othya were to ever turn their focus into a more militant mindset, they would be an incredible threat to all others in their way. For now, they are grateful they are content with their insular studies.

Led by Mage-King Narahaelion Gloradiar, Othya is a traditional monarchy that follows its royal family with great loyalty and pride; many of the most powerful people in the country being that of magic or technological persuasion, no matter their race.

While their mages and political leadership is dominated by the Elvestri, there are plenty of others among their number as well. The military is heavily dominated by the Asvuur, with the navy naturally being mostly Sirens. Artisans and the work force are generally the Thayael Humans. The Istiel are still just finding themselves, but already they show great promise in the magical fields, indicating they appeared in the right country.

Drahkabor: Tense relations with moderate trade agreements despite it. There is occasional battle between the two nations, with ceasefires quickly made after. Occasionally will assist the other in battle against Atra Zarryn, if mutually beneficial. The Othese can get permits to traverse Drahkabor, if they can prove themselves individually worthy while the Drahkaborians have free access to Othya, except during the span of a week surrounding a recent battle between each other.

Atra Zarryn: Calm relations with significant trade agreements. Yet, there is the occasional battle between the two nations, with ceasefires quickly made after. Occasionally will assist the other in battle against Drahkabor, if mutually beneficial. Except when battle was done within the last week, the Othese and Zarryn are allowed free travel amongst their countries.

Yerkoskei: Significant trade agreements, but a wary relationship. Both sides wage an espionage war against the other intermittently and while both are aware of this, keep up their trade publicly because it is too mutually beneficial. The Yerkoskei are only allowed into certain areas of the country and watched carefully.

Pyriuth Supremacy: Not much interaction, but relations are unfriendly despite this. The relationship between the Fire Elves and the Elvestri being the main fuel for this as their hatred of each other is quite old and unlikely to ever change. Skirmishes with exploration parties occur on a rare basis, but otherwise they avoid each other completely. Othya is known to trade supplies to Drahkabor, Atra Zarryn, and even Yerkoskei that immediately benefit their efforts against the Pyriuth Supremacy to underscore matters.

Ravańor: A very stiff neutral relationship, edging close to dislike, is here. Once again, the main fuel for this is the relationship between the Elvestri and the Jungle Elves. Ravańor is most likely to trade and deal with delegates that contain none of their more magical cousins. Add in an Elvestri and things tend to “go south” rather quickly. However, as long as exploration parties or seafaring merchants (that are Non-Elvestri) are respectful of their land, they will treat with them…if never giving them their premium wares.

    Sovereign Union of Yerkoskei

With the mysterious warning turned into the ‘eternal union’ of the Kitsune and Illithid, the birth of Yerkoskei was nigh. Spreading out from the mountains the Illithid originally were hiding in, they swarmed over the land in quiet dominance, molding the country they knew was theirs over five hundred years ago. Along the way, the Oovi-Kat were encountered and brought into the fold. There was little bloodshed, just overwhelming tactics. Soon enough, they were advancing the Yerkoskei front with the other two member races.

It did not take them long to establish ultimate power from magnificent Lake Ascension. Using every trick in the book and more to quickly establish themselves as a force none should dare reckon with, the Yerkoskei will use calm diplomacy, physical might, magical superiority, intellectual strategy and manipulation, subterfuge and espionage, control the flow of information and trade markets, economic destabilization, and redirect with illusions and traps that others could only dream of utilizing. Nothing was off limits to the rising Sovereign Union. They needed it to maintain their existence and they knew it from the beginning, as such, they have never let up since they began. To say it concerns other nations is putting it mildly, but Yerkoskei does all it can to make sure that there’s nothing they can do about it. Or, at least, make them think that way.

When the Xskiva needed a new home, they immediately calculated the risks and bonuses and decided it was worth the risk. They have no regretted it. Nor have they regretted the proactive stance the kitsune took when urging their allies to rescue the Mranu Humans. Despite how they make it look, their country is still not perfect, but every day they feel like they are slowly assembling the pieces to something that may one day become described as the single greatest civilization to exist. So they tell themselves.

They maintain their neutral stances, albeit with spies ever present, with Drahkabor, Atra Zarryn, and Othya. Yerkoskei battles and secretly trades with Pyriuth when and where necessary, while all the while constantly struggling to push back the Jungle Elves of Ravańor.

Yerkoskei is led by the Ascendant Premier Ryofumi Takutsune and the Sovereign Union takes on the governmental form of a type of Confederation between its member races. Despite the title, the Ascendent Premier is only nominally more powerful than the next most powerful leaders, though the vying for the office is always one of great political drama due to the claimants all having to vote for one of them that is not themself to take the post.

Throughout society, the Illithid seem to be the predominant race in politics. The kitsune dominated the mages of Yerkoskei, though both of the founding races have roughly equal numbers among their mystics. The military seems to be primarily composed of Humans, though the amount of Xskiva that have joined in have made their presence very well known. The artisans and workforce seems to be dominated by the Oovi-Kat. The diplomats and mediators have already generally become the Xskiva. As for their secret agents scouring the world as spies and early warning givers? By the sound of it, it is roughly equal among the races.

They have publicly sworn off the other despite no major incidents having occurred between the two as of yet. Secretly, they are trading with one another in the hopes of a potential future alliance…should it ever be required. Still can’t fully stand nor trust each other however.

Ravańor: Hostile relations are in place, leading to open warfare between both sides. While the fighting has calmed down recently, Yerksoskei has recently annexed a little bit more of the southeastern portion of the Narahul Jungle. Brutal retaliation is expected at any time. The Jungle Elves have not liked the country since the moment it first appeared and began taking control of Lake Ascension, years ago. Their extreme distrust led to the first salvos in a long war.

    Currency

The currency used within Odyssey of Fantasy is very basic, keeping to a simple and well understood system for ease and comfort for the players.

Pyrite Coin > Galena Coin > Copper Coin

10 Copper to a Galena. 10 Galena to a Pyrite.

Expected Gold and Silver? You must not have been reading about the H’trae too closely in the Races Section…

    Skills

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW!

The skill system comprises 180 Skills and has a maximum of 10 Skill Points that can be allotted to each. To some, having a 0 in that skill means it is not currently a part of their repertoire. Whereas for others it simply means they are considered average. Which is which will be made clear.

Each level gives additional Skill Points upon promotion. And some given for free at the start based upon the player’s chosen race, though put in pre-determined skills to help feel more authentic to that chosen race. The only maxed out skill at the start will be one’s character’s native language according to the world lore.

Each race also has 1 Special Skill only available to them.

Focus is a crucial skill to note as well as it increases damage output, grants the ability to equip shields in addition to weapons, dual wield weapons, or obtain multiple magic types…as well as dual cast and eventually the passive ability: ‘Ultimate Willpower.’

~1 Magic Type per Skill Point in Focus is the maximum.~

What occurs at every SP put into Focus: 1 = Basic Competency, 2 = Shield & Weapon Combination Available, 3 = Dual Wield Ranged Weapons, 4 = Dual Wield Melee Weapons & Increased Damage Output, 5 = Dual Wield Melee & Ranged Weapons, 6 = Elite Damage Output, 7 = Dual Casting Now Available, 8 = Wield & Cast Combination Available, 9 = Triple Casting Now Available, 10 = Ultimate Willpower

Bio: Keep your head down, do your job as asked of you, keep your job. It was a steady mantra in his life.

At one point in his early years he had wanted to be a firefighter, but first week of volunteering and he got a bit more than he bargained for. After that, well in this economy having a job when you don't have an rich family was something he could not take for granted.

Especially considering he had to use one of those external voice boxes. Not many people wanted to hire someone that sounded like a bad computer voice buzzing at them. Which is probably why he chose a job where he rarely has to talk.

When the new gaming system came out he applied on a whim, never expecting to win. He had applied to Publisher's Clearing House and so many raffles that never amounted to anything. So it was a pleasant surprise when he was notified that he had won one of the rare test systems for the hottest new game system on the market.

Height & Build: 6’2” and Athletic
    Other Physical Characteristics: None Notable
    Class: Paladin

    Bio:
After many years of hardship and brilliance that helped him survive it all, Bin Hyun-Sang soon found himself in great position to work on the ever-developing technology of virtual reality and create his dream world. With some prior education learned in his younger years, mostly self-taught, he went on to eventually join the prestigious Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and mastered various classes to pursue his dream and make it a reality.

Software Industry Foundations, Software Engineering and Design, Data Structures and System Design, Software Development Fundamentals, Cloud Computing and Hardware Engineering, IT Fundamentals for Business, Mobile and Software Application Development, various DevOps and Programming Language Courses…and more. Paired with his vast imagination and ravenous hunger for that ‘other place’ he felt he personally needed to build, he became an unstoppable dynamo in the field of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

With only limited input from a few other, carefully chosen individuals, Hyun-Sang essentially created the entirety of the Hermes System and its accompanying game, Odyssey of Fantasy, by himself from the ground up. His work gained international attention and various accolades, but none of them could distract him from his ultimate goal.

And now. Finally. His dream has become reality.

Holding the Hermes helmet in his hands, he can only imagine what it will feel like to finally dive in alongside others and not worry about further creation, but only…that immersion he has long sought.

It was time to find out.

    Hair Color: black astral

    Eye Color: glowing starlight

    Height & Build: 5 foot 11 inches

Bio: Lily was born in Seattle, Washington, as a single child. Her family moved to Vancouver, Cananda at the age of four and set up roots in their new home. Her parents opened up a small pastry and coffee shop as small business owners and when she was old enough, she often lended help, usually to wash dishes or serve the pastries.

It was while she was in school when she found her enjoyment for gaming and art. Transferring into a whole new country and trying to fit in was hard, but drawing and painting allowed herself to express her feelings and playing games that let her escape the struggles she encountered raised her self-esteem. She also was able to find a community with like-minded artist and gamers that truly helped her open up and finally enjoy this new life she was living in.

Lily is taking art history courses at the university of British Columbia and working on her art in between helping with her parents in their shop. She lives with a roommate in Vancouver, Canada, and her dog, Leo. In the free time, she enjoys gaming and is lucky to get her hands on the new full dive game.

    Height & Build: 5’10”
Other Physical Characteristics: A gray beard
    Class: Healer

Bio: Sam has always been a bit eccentric, preferring to pursue her passion for comic books and video games rather than conform to the stereotypical behaviours expected of her generation. Some call it a rebellious streak, but Sam sees it as a means to express herself.

She is also a creative soul, which led to a natural love of the arts - most notably, the theatre. One day, she hopes to appear on the silver screen and demonstrate her abilities to the rest of the world. In the meantime, she attends the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in downtown London.

Perhaps the biggest surprise in recent months occurred a few days ago. Her aunt - through means she will not explain - managed to acquire the latest in gaming technology and presented the new system to Sam as a gift for her birthday. She views this as an opportunity. As an MMORPG, Odyssey of Fantasy will allow her to step into another person’s shoes, escape to a new world, and hone her skills as an actor - to embody her true self.

Name of the Player: Jule Smiray
    Gender: Female
    Age: 28
    Birthdate: 4 Aug 2018
Hair Color: White with streaks of the original blond
    Eye Color: Blue-green
Nationality: Canadian, EU citizen as well
    Occupation: Retired, former soldier

Bio: Jule grew up in the outskirts of Vancouver, where many of her friends considered her a tomboy. So it was little surprise that she joined the military when she turned 18. What was a surprise was that she had worked so hard in her chosen vocation that she was one of the first chosen for the new Mobile Armor branch of the service.

She fought in a variety of conflicts over the next nine years, rising in the ranks. Over the years the constant grind of the conflicts as well as a variety of injuries, losing her right leg below the knee, almost losing her left eye, and mental trauma added up. By the time that she was retired by the service due to her injuries, visible and invisible, she was a shell of the woman that she’d been. When she retired she was still based overseas and chose to stay in Europe. A village had grown up around the major base of the Alliance outside Mol, Belgium and she found only these other broken veterans understood her.

When the game came out she took a chance, an opportunity to live in a world without having to truly face or deal with others herself. What made her nervous and slightly scared to take part was getting back into a suit like her former armor. She decided she had to take the chance and applied to join. To her surprise, she was one of the first chosen and now she had to go through with the leap of faith she’d taken.

    Name of Character: Vaarra Cudol
    Race: Istiel
    Gender: Female
    Hair Color: Black Vaporous Wisps
Eye Color: Medium Blue like blue hypergiants
Height & Build: 5’10”, hard to tell with her skin tone but athletic build
Other Physical Characteristics: Mutations associated with her creation
    Class: Assassin

Bio: When Jule created Vaarra she did not realize that the algorithm that controlled the game had access to files that it shouldn’t otherwise have and used that data to assist in making the characters for the players. She didn’t find out until the system provided a bio for Vaarra that such was possible but once it had she decided she had to go forward with it.

Vaarra, it turned out, was a rare mutation among Istiel kind. Most openly displayed the starscape of their form and their blazing star eyes but she could not. Her mutation made her have to cover herself to the point the only way most people would tend to recognize what she was were her eyes that shone through the mask she wore. She’d originally chosen a class other than Assassin but with the mutation she felt it was the best choice for her. What the mutation meant was that, without any thought or choice on her part, any being she touched began to mutate into another Istiel.

And now, if it wasn’t bad enough that Jule’s PTSD made her stay away from any person she didn’t trust, which was everyone but some of her fellow veterans, Vaarra’s mutation caused her to have to shun any physical contact unless absolutely necessary.

    Bio:
As a gamer, Jay is known in the FGC (Fighting Game Community ) as N00bKill3R13, having won his first local FGC Tournament at age 12. Jay is currently ranked in the top 100 players in the world. He’s also been consistent with his manga series, ‘Kang of the Mountain’, for the last 3 years, though he started it at age 15. Jay is often competitive and obsessive, not just in the FGC, but also in the dojo where he trains and always pushes himself to succeed.

As someone who likes to keep busy, Jay has done numerous stunt for several popular online streaming K-dramas that have exciting fight sequences. Unfortunately, Jay is currently recovering from a back injury he sustained while paragliding in Hawaii as he did research for an upcoming episode for his manga. Not wanting to be bored in bed, Jay used all his connections and tournament money in hopes of getting early access to the new FD VRMMORPG, or at least by launch.

The VR experience that is Odyssey of Fantasy, was created and developed by a fellow Korean and he wants to show his support to one of his RL Gaming heroes on the Dev side. Besides, staying in bed doing nothing all day really sucks.
