Since there's one on Literature, and since Clone Wars is getting more exposure than the novels, a fleet junkie thread is needed in this forum. So lets discuss ships and starfighters in the series, and which ships you hope to see the GR and CIS using in the show.

    Great idea for a thread!

Maybe the first order of the day is list what ships we've seen so far in the series:

    - Consular Space Cruiser
    - Medical Frigate
    - Nu Attack Shuttle
    - The Twilight
    - Y-Wing
    - V-19 Torrent
    - Delta-7B Jedi Starfighter

    CIS
    - The Malevolence
    - Lucrehulk Battleship
    - Core Ship listening post
    - Munificent Star Frigate
    - C-9979 Landing Craft
    - Sheathipede Shuttle
    - Pod hunter/boarding craft/drop pod
    - Vulture Droid Starfighter
    - Belbulab-22
    - P-38

Right off the bat, I'd say there are several ships that are conspicuous by their absence:
    - Acclamator Cruiser
    - Providence Carrier/Destroyer
    - Recusant Light Destroyer
    - Delta-7 Jedi Starfighter

And then, there are the two ship I'm sure all fleet junkies had expected to see since Ep2 and that haven't yet showed their faces: give us our Victory Star Destroyer and Z-95 Headhunter already!! These have been the staples of Clone Wars era ships in the EU, and a pity they've been ignored all along.

The Providence-class Destroyer/Carrier probably won't be seen till season 2 or three-they were procured later in the war during the raid on Mon Calamari, where also the Resuscent-class Destroyer designs were stollen from.

And you're right, its time for the Victory-class Star Destroyer and Z-95 to come into visual view.

I'd say that to fulfill the narrative that the Empire is slowly manifesting itself in Republic designs, we need to see a counter to the Malevolence type battleships, like a Mandator II-class Star Dreadnought or something. Throw a bone to the fleet junkies and at the same time signal the oncoming dread of the Empire. Heck, it needn't be an established design, just something big, because in SW, big = scary, and the Republic is becoming something different altogether.

We've also seen the Acclamators in the movie.

I saw that wookieepedia listed that, but I don't see it. Could you point out where they appear in the movie?

The wookiee also says that the Eta-2 Interceptor and the Theta Shuttle appear in the show, but I'm pretty sure they don't, yet.

Eta-2 Interceptors were mentioned as 'rolling off the assembly lines' in the Visual Guide (how official the guide is, I'm not sure), which implies they're fairly new and not quite widespread. Whether this occurs as the movie starts or in the future is uncertain, but whatever the case, 'Plo still swears by his old Delta-7B'. Perhaps he just likes going it old school. He hasn't even memory wiped his droid XD

The Battle of Christophsis, they're pretty much everywhere in the fleet scenes and landings at the end.

Perhaps this is just me, but I'd love to see a prototype Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (obviously under a different designation or a code name) brought out of stardock and put into use as a command ship towards the end of the show/war.

The Wook says they were in use by the end of the Clone Wars, but who knows whether George would like the idea for the show...

Wow, yeah, Acclamators abound in Christophsis. I guess I just found it really strange that they aren't using them in the series, after all, they already have the model built...

I for one would NOT like to see an Imperial Star Destroyer prototype or anything like that in the show. I think we have quite enough foreshadowing of that design with the Acclamator and Venator. If we could see a Victory opening its flaps, I'd be a happy man.

The problem is, in Ep3 Plo is flying a normal Delta-7. So the inclusion of the 7B and disappearence of the 7 in the series looks very strange. Why would Plo go back to the Delta-7?

Both Imperators and Tectors are mentioned in the show's visual guide as being in service in some task forces, so it's possible we might get them somewhere down the line.:)

I think that it's because Plo thought he was just doing a routine patrol and didn't need the 'new' model. It's near the war's end, so by that time, the Jedi have started the transition back into their regular robes instead of Clone armor. Maybe Plo's transition includes not just his arm guards but the fighter as well. Then again, maybe it got destroyed along the way and he didn't have the time or desire to get a new one.

Hopefully Dave will clear this one up for us. XD

This shows need more Lucrehulk battleships. They were seen in the background over Christophsis, and were little specks among the Munificents in Rookies. But... In that episode, they looked like the same size as the Munificents, when Ep. III cleary shows how big they are.

And, towards the end of the show, way off in last season or something, they should have a Republic prototyope Star Dreadnaught. Maybe not as big or powerful as the Executor class, but a prototype.

I was really expecting to see the MedStars make an appearance in Shadow of Malevolence especially since the plot focused around a Republic medical facility. But I guess they just came up with another Corellian corvette clone as their medical transport =/

Talking about the Corellian Corvette clone, why is it being called a Medical Frigate? Does anybody knows where the Frigate denomination came from? Shouldn't it just be a Medical Corvette?

And I agree that they should use more Lucrehulks. The utter dominance of the Munificent-class in the CIS fleets is starting to look very boring...

Apparently the militarized Consular corvettes are being called Republic frigates on Wookiepedia when the thing is less than half the length of a Munificent.

Also, the Lucrehulk looks more like it would fulfill a carrier or troop transport role than anything else. I mean they started out as large freighters and only got the name "battleship" after mounted with heavy weaponry, but that hardly means they're optimized for space combat. Just looking at it, it appears more like it's meant to maximize cargo capacity rather than speed.

Speed isn't everything in combat, although it really helps. Sometimes, you need a stable firing platform that can take a lot of hits and still functon. The Lucrehulk certainly is this, and it really has no blind spots, except possible inside the ring (coreships have armament too) and the actual engines. It can defend itself quite well, holds lots troops, and is heavily armed. Sounds like a good battleship, with the excpetion of speed.

I'm getting worried about the amount of Source info that is given with each episode. We get two or maybe three characters but the ships are neglected. Since the Clone Wars movie, I believe that only the Y-Wing was given a technical name. We've seen several new ships - such as the Republic Medical Ships, the two Saucer ships, the Vulture's Claw, Skytop Station - that haven't yet received a proper designation.

When will this happen? Will this ever happen or will the Clone Wars series contintue to carry a bunch of unnamed stuff? I don't understand why it could be that difficult to add a few more names and designations when the Episode guide is being written.

The new Clone Wars Campaign Guide reveals some TCW FJ tidbits:

-The Malevolence (and it's sister ship, if you follow the spin-off material) are Subjugator-Class Heavy Cruisers.
-The podkillers, at least in their function used in Cloak of Darkness (unsure about the podkiller or Rookies droppod configuration), are called a Droch-class Boarding Ship.

unsure if this is new or not but:

The Twilight's stock configuration is a G9 Rigger
the stock version of Gha Nackt's ship is a GS-100 Salvage Ship.

Also it looks like we have a name for the medical ships in Shadow of Malevolence - Pelta-Class Medical Frigate.

Gah, why is it a medical frigate? It's clearly a corvette sized vessel. Star Wars already has dozens of examples of frigates, all of which are significantly larger than these ships. Same goes for the militarized Consulars....they're also corvettes that somehow got the "frigate" attached to them because someone was too lazy to think things through.

Yeah, I din't like this Frigate thing either. Both ships look almost exactly like a Corellian Corvette, what's the difficulty here?
