Doesn't look like we have a thread for this guy: We don't know how big his role is yet but from the little clip we saw of him I get sort of a Rocket vibe. I would love that.
Loved what we saw in the trailer of him. I guess his voice could be more alien but eh doesn’t matter.
He seems pretty endearing so far (“Is that a Wookiee??”) I wonder how much screen time he gets.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm hoping Rio demonstrates his handiness, showing off his ability to use his four arms at once in a scuffle with some baddies. It could be very comedic. In this image of him in the Creatures & Aliens book, it appears he wields a staff in one right hand, perhaps a blaster in the other right hand, while his lower left hand almost seems as if he's using the Force to move or push something. Could Rio perhaps have some Force skills? Granted, this appears to be an art department maquette, so, his hand gesture could just be some artistic license, and not part of the story.
After seeing the movie, I'm kinda disappointed he didn't last long. Especially since now I see it was Favreau doing the voice, which I didn't know going in; that made him even better.
My favorites (probably remembering details wrong): “You said we were doing a quick job. This isn’t a quick job. It’s a war!” “You’ve never been to a mynock roast on Ardennia. It’s nuts!” Liked this guy a lot more then the raccoon he’s compared to. He’s just a mensch in a big galaxy.
This is the guy people are saying ripped off Rocket Raccoon? He looks nothing like him. I expected an actual raccoon based on some people's complaints. A wisecracking alien....gee GOTG invented that.
Lol. Really? Some people are saying that? I'm just disappointed we didn't get more rio. Or Val for that matter. They were there then gone. And I was like. Wha?
Among my group of friends, Rio was one of the film's standout characters. All of his jokes hit for me and he was just pure fun. I'm hoping we'll get a book in the future focusing on Beckett's original crew.
Anyone notice he was cooking with all his arms and Favs is a big foodie / amateur chef? it makes me wonder if that was added after Favs was cast or just a coincidence?
Ooooh. I didn't notice that! Now I have a reason to watch it again. Am I the only one who thinks rio would make for a nice plush toy?
This exchange just tickles me because of the absurdity of the situation. Rio: Beckett, you said we were coming here for a quick job, in and out. Beckett: Yeah. Rio: Well, this isn’t a quick job. It’s a war! Beckett: It’s always something with you.
I liked him and kind of wish they had found a way for him to be more of a weapons guy (Rocket-inspired I know but I don’t care. Seeing 4 hands with different weapons would have been cool) and live. Star Wars needs more aliens with dialogue and personality that live and can move some toys.
Rio is such a great character. He had a number of good lines. "You will never have a more restful sleep than curled up in the lap of a Wookiee." I also loved all the references to Favreau's "Chef" with Rio being the cook and wanting to open a cantina.
I got a Rio pop to add to my alien gallery, I just noticed he wasn’t as furry in the film as he was in the merchandising
