Rogue One [Official Info] Riz Ahmed (Bodhi Rook) in Rogue One

Sources tell Variety that “Nightcrawler” actor Riz Ahmed is the top choice for the male lead in the “Star Wars” anthology film “Rogue One.”

Gareth Edwards is directing and Ben Mendelsohn is also set to star as the main villain.

At a panel with Edwards and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy at last weekend’s Star Wars Celebration, Edwards explained that the plot revolves around the heist of Death Star plans by a group of rebel fighters and that Felicity Jones would play one of the rebel soldiers. Sources could not confirm Ahmed’s role, but it is likely he too would play a rebel soldier.

The film will take place between Episode III and Episode IV, but closer to “A New Hope.” It’s set to bow December 2016.

Ahmed was among a group of young actors who had been meeting with Edwards for the last month in London while the director prepped for the film. Sources say Ahmed’s chemistry test with Jones separated him from the pack for Edwards and production execs.

Besides “Nightcrawler,” Ahmed was also seen in “Four Lions.”

He is repped by CAA and Gordon and French. Badass Digest first reported the news. Disney had no comment.

I don't want to neglect his thread.
So looks like Riz Ahmed might be the hacker/ tec. download guy, securing and inevitably transmitting the Death Star plans to Leia.



Not sure if they actually infiltrate the Death Star, (is he wearing a uniform?) Or some Imperial Base/ HQ/ Shipyards on the Forest planet below? As shown in the Celebration teaser.

Do we have a catalog of any "Official Original-Trilogy" Imperial crew logos, to compare to the emblem on his shoulder?

 

I'm looking forward to this guy. The hacker types are usually extremely anti-social, and add into that his Imperial uniform possibly indicating that he's a defector...probably means the anti-social factor is amped up tenfold. Could make for some excellent banter!

Four Lions is a great film, and he gives a great performance in it. I am stoked that he is in Rogue One! Rubber Dinghy Rapids Brother!

 

Yep he is most convincing in Four Lions. One of my fave movies. There is another British film called Shifty he stars in which I'd recommend. '**** mini babybells'

 

I may be a little bias but it would be great to see Kayvan Novak in a VA or Motion Capture role for comic relief in any SW production. The guy is hilarious in Face/FoneJacker

Yep, I think he is also going to be one of the first figures released. The rumors list the figure as "seal team communicator," which I'm guessing is him.

Yes. Bodhi Rook and Cassian Andor are the best new names in the new canon, IMO. Right next to Lor San Tekka and Kylo Ren.
