The official PDF for The Force Awakens was made public years ago. Copies of the prequels and originals have also been circulating on IMSDB.com and ScriptSlug and others. But what about The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker (the Abrams and Terrio version, not Trevorrow)? Anyone know where we can read those?
Spoiler alter: there wasn’t a script. The closest you’ll get is the transcript for the descriptive audio track paired with a transcript of the closed captioning.
I know Johnson wanted to release a copy of the TLJ script online, but at the time I don't think he was allowed, otherwise it would likely be hosted on his website alongside his other screenplays: https://www.rian-johnson.com/screenplays
Yeah, TFA was being written - rewritten - after the sets were all built and they were days from shooting, This tells me they hadn't figured it all out yet, even at this late stage. Then it was rewritten again, once they didn't kill off Poe and needed him in the third act. TLJ... who knows. ACT 1 Scene 1. Crait Battle lol.
Found the Tweet, dated 2018, with Johnson's comments on the matter: No idea if anything's changed since then but I'd imagine that, if it had, the script would be widely out there by now.
Weird that the official script for VII has been out for years, but not the other two. Fan-made scripts with the dialogue and actions transcribed I suppose will do for now. Hopefully the scripts get released 2027 or before. Maybe there could be a big collector's set of them in 2027 for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars. It would probably be an eBook.
