I wasn't far with 'Attack of the 50ft Rancor' then...

So now we know!

EDIT: The OS article gives away a little of the plot too, so be careful...

 

It shows an opening crawl too! Is that really the opening crawl? Probably just something they put together for that news article.

Is it just me who feels like "Attack Of The Clones" sounds waaaaaay cheesy???

I'm deeply troubled over this.

 

I thought The Phantom Menace was a bad title, almost as worse as the movie, but okay, I should have learned my lesson. This is neo-GL we're talking about, George "The SE's are an improvement" Lucas.

Attack of the Clones?!? It sounds like a crappy B-film. Every time I read that title I will be reminded of a 50ft Darryl Hannah. Aaaaaaah!

 

Come on!,

It harkens back to the sense of pure fun, imagination and excitement that characterized the classic movie serials and pulp space fantasy adventures that inspired the Star Wars saga.

Wooh! Attack of the Clones! Yeah!



What do you know? It was ____ of the ____ after all!

Don't forget that The Phantom Menace sounded cheesey when it was first announced. As before, the first time I saw this I thought it was a joke. The second thing I thought of was attack of the killer clowns. It's hard not to hate this title, but hopefully by the time the movie rolls around, we will have forgotten the cheesy title. Hopefully.

 

Appalling. No other word for it.

 

Why not go all the way and call it "Star Wars: When Clones Attack" ?

 

Now Star Wars joins these other great "Attack" movies!

Attack of the Bat Monsters
Attack of the Beast Creatures
Attack of the Crab Monsters
Attack of the Giant Leeches
Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman
Attack of the Jungle Women
Attack of the Mayan Mummy

...and who could forget that sci-fi masterpiece, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!



Well, maybe this is GL's own special way of trying to purify his fan base. You know, cleanse it of anyone with taste or respect for him.

 

I'm still holding out hope that this is a joke. "Attack of the Clones" sounds like a terrible title. And I never thought TPM sounded terrible; I thought it sounded strange at first, but not completely stupid. TPM is a layered, subtle title, and I don't see how that could be the case for AotC. Please be a joke!

 

Come on, guys!

Get ahold of yourselves.

Unless it was what you were expecting, you're not going to like it right away. Just give it a few days.

I remember first hearing 'The Phantom Menace' and thinking it sounded bad, hoping that it would be a fake title like 'Revenge'.

Attack of the Clones does sound a little cheesey, a little B-Movieish and ultimatley a little poor, but not unexpected with titles like TPM and TESB.

Just imagine "Attack of the Clones" in the opening crawl. It looks a bit better.

I think that "The Clone War" is a much better title...but i bet the people thought that "The Empire Strikes Back" was really cheesy back then too

oh man.... The movie better be good to over come the title.
WHy not simply have it as 'The Clones" or "The Clone Wars"?
Its like calling TESB: The Empire is attacking....again!

since writing this though...it is growing on me. But not at the rate as the phantom menace did.

 

Yah, the dude above me has a VERY good point. I mean, how cheesy is "The Empire Strikes Back"? *cough cough cough*

Seriously, I don't mind this title. It's pretty clear that Lucas is going for more of an old-school pulp sci-fi type thing with these prequel titles, and after Phantom Menace, I think Attack Of The Clones fits in with his theme fairly well, for better or worse.

I think, though, that a read of the LFL blurb about the upcoming film shows that Lucas really has ditched his original plan to have these prequels be more serious, plot-driven films as opposed to the effects-crazy adventure stories that we saw in the OT. (Lucas described the prequel trilogy this way back in 1983 about the time Jedi came out.)

That's fine... if Lucas doesn't have it in him to get deep with these films after all, and they're going to be typical eye-candy summer blockbuster fare, then that's what they're going to be. I like a roller coaster just as much as the next guy.

 

Okaaayyy....

 

I can't stop laughing, but it's not a jolly laugh...
