Ok So I have a praying Mantis Phobia!

What should I do?

Whats the best way to ovecome a phobia?

 

well i would suggest confronting the praying Mantis and working out your differences

 

Watch out, the female will eat off your head.

If you want to get over your fear the best way is to find one and hold it.....make sure it is alive as well and i gaurntee youll be ok

the first thing to do is to first take a look of pictures of them online. theres so many.

then find a live one and slowly approach it. dont go right up to it, right away. slowly approach it, and when you get comfortable enough, go right up to it. it cant hurt you, parying mantises are harmless.

 

On Halloween night, while opening the door for t-o-ters, a praying mantis flew in. That's the first time I'd seen a real live praying mantis (and the first time I realized they can fly!). Well, I have a bond with nature (spiders and mice excluded), so I took it upon myself to pick it up. It was a very strange experience, but not bad at all. If you're used to picking up crickets, it's just like that, only several times bigger. But it's not creepy or anything. It's fun!

As a Matter of fact they are spraying our city for Asian Gypsy Moths everyweek because they have found a few!

Praying Mantis bugs are cool. Don't be afraid of them, they are your friends.

I once held a Madagascar cockroach. Talk about pooping yourself. But I guess I'm over my fear of them. Not that I ever KNEW I had a fear of them UNTIL I held one!

I'd take that tarantula over a praying mantis any day.... I'm being serious

 

Pffft, tarantula. You should see some of the spiders we get here in Australia...

We had a Praying Mantis in our bathroom one day, so I scooped it up and was on my way to take it outside....until it turned it's head and LOOKED AT ME WITH IT'S GIANT DEVIL EYES! I freaked out. It was so gross. My dad had to come and get it from me and take it out. I'll never go near one of those creepy suckers again.

 

Luckly they are spraying for gypsy moths here And I think its killed all of the praymanti! I haven't seen one in like 4 weeks! w00t

Don't kill it, it's illegal to kill a mantid.
