Anybody out there know when the oldest known fan film was created/released? My wife and her brother made one as kids on a little B&W camera, and when a friend heard about it, he excitedly commented that it might be the oldest one around. I'm just curious to know if there's anything out there older.
Yes It might be the oldest one. Which type of camera is the best for film making and film production..??
Hardware Wars isn't the oldest. There are a few youtube videos you can find shot in 1977-1978, but I want to say "Star Wars: A Remake". It's is probably the best of the bunch which was filmed in either '77. http://blogs.amctv.com/movie-blog/2008/01/star-wars-remak/ http://swremake.tripod.com/MSWRpage01.html https://www.facebook.com/pages/Star-Wars-Remake-a-Jongsma-Baker-Film/248368618526622
Are we just talking about Star Wars, or any fan films? I HIGHLY recommend—and not just for this topic—"Homemade Hollywood", a book by one of our TFN forumgoers. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0826429238/adambertocci-20 It covers the history of fan films since practically the dawn of motion picture technology. If memory serves, the earliest example he found was a "The Little Rascals" knockoff called "Anderson Our Gang", produced in 1926. Yes, you read that correctly. Rick McCallum loves you!
