    Characters: Han Solo, Leia Organa,
Time Frame: After the battle on Endor
    Rating: For everyone

The fading twilight of Endor, with the cloak of night quickly enfolding the Forest Moon, found Han Solo and Leia Organa walking slowly, silently, hand in hand, away from the Ewok village.

Back in the village, the victory celebration was winding down; fireworks sputtering and fading, the lights replaced by the twinkling of emerging stars and the shine of a full moon, music becoming mellow and excited conversation lowering to a hum as tired soldiers and pilots sought places to sleep and Ewok families made their way to their homes.

The cool forest grass swept across their feet as they made their way to a crop of tree stumps. The light from the distant bonfire casting faint shadows on their faces.

“Let’s sit here.” Han suggested as he swiped a hand over a broad stump for Leia.
She smiled up at him as she sat. “It’s been quite a day.”

“For a lot of things.” Han replied as he sat close to her.

Leia removed her hand from the Corellian’s, tilting her head, questioningly. “Things? We just had one objective.”

Han lowered his head, those faint shadows playing across his handsome features, “The Rebellion had one objective.” He agreed. “I have another.”

A tightness gripped Leia’s heart….she was a princess and a soldier, but also a woman….he was going to tell her that he was leaving now, now that the second Death Star had been destroyed. She waited, holding her breath, wanting, but not wanting to hear the next words he spoke.

“Two things have happened now.” He began.

Leia clasped her hands, holding tight….waiting….

“You told me you loved me before I was put into Carbonite.”

Leia nodded her head with a bittersweet smile….remembering….

“You also rescued me from that torture…risking your own life to save mine.”

    She waited….

Han looked up at her. " And at the generator bunker when you revealed you had a gun, I told you “I love you.”

Leia’s smile became real….again remembering…even in the midst of battle and danger, she’d cherished those words…and would for her whole lifetime…even if she never heard them again.

Han looked directly into her eyes…. “I meant that.” He assured her.

Her smile widened. “So did I.”

The Corellian took her hand….. “I don’t have a lot to offer you…but my love and my faithfulness.”

“I offer the same thing to you.” She said.

    Han smiled.

There will be no more threats to the Rebellion for many solar years…perhaps not ever if diplomatic measures secure peace. We would have a lot of years…to build a life together…” He gave an endearing, crooked smile, “..and maybe start a family.”

Leia’s heart softened and she placed her other hand on his chest ..that precious heart was beating fast as hers.

The Corellian gave a short, uncustomary cough.

“If you give me the right answer to this question, I will have completed my objective. Leia….will you marry me?”

She answered with a joyfully long kiss.

I adored the lovely setting, Han's sincerity, Leia's initial uncertainty as to what he would say, followed by the gradual revealing that she would not have a sad outcome after all, but a joyous one. :)

This was just gorgeous! I love how everything - the setting, Han and Leia's words and actions, everything - feels just like a scene from RotJ. [face_love]

This put such a big smile on my face! A lovely ending for a lovely story. =D=[face_love]

Beautiful and, as always, very in-character proposal scene for SW’s classic couple! :han: :leia: And oh so true about those parallel objectives! Han and Leia’s love really did bloom in parallel with the Alliance’s victory and gave Han’s life a whole new purpose—he’s definitely not leaving her now, quite the contrary! It’ll be the beginning of a whole new adventure for them both. Thanks so much for sharing another lovely vignette, and good to see you here again! =D=

There is such wonderful honesty in the way he’s become a new person. Her middle-of-scene thoughts are interesting callbacks to fears that he then puts to rest.

This was such a sweet missing moment, and it's really lovely how the details of Endor combined to create a romantic night environment for the scene! [face_love]

@};- I really like how you captured the rhythm of the party winding down as well as the beauty of their surroundings.

:han: I can just hear him saying that too, and it shows so much of how far he's come that he's willing to say it openly -- even if it takes a minute to clarify. ;)

At this early point in their relationship, I can definitely see how Leia would have these (totally unnecessary, but she doesn't know that) concerns about whether there's a future there. :leia:

    YAY, THEY SAID IT! [face_dancing]

    Just perfect. [face_love]

Aww, this was just adorable. @};-

[face_laugh] Sounds like it was a success, then. :* I really like that they are just so very happy here, and here's hoping that in this story's universe they get to stay that way for a long, long time! @};-
