Since http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Shi%27ido was my biggest source of info on them, I've been trying to get as much info as I can on them.

What I've gleaned from that and a few other sources(New Essential Guide to Alien Species, Galaxy of Fear series):

    -Shi'ido are shapeshifters

-They get better at shapeshifting with age, and are considered adults at 61. They also live to be around 500 on average.

-To perfect their 'disguise', they use telepathic suggestions to persuade others that they're the real deal.

-There are pockets of mass hidden in their bodies that allow them to change shape. On that note, they can hide inanimate objects(like lightsabers, commlinks, etc.) inside their bodies and even shapeshift while doing so.

-Shape was limited by mass, except for probably Mammon Hoole and Belia Darzu(the former was well studied, the latter was a Sith Lord.)

-In their natural form, they were grey-skinned an apparently had a bald head(possibly why 90% of pictures of them have headgear of some sort). From descriptions in GoF, they were also tall, thin, willowy, etc. with long fingers and legs.

-Most seemed to be stoic/quiet/whathaveyou and loved to learn. Had a quick grasp of language. Probable high intelligence(Darzu mastered Mechu-deru/Sith alchemy, Hoole knew most everything about every species, Gog/Hoole were geneticists and pioneers of sorts in that field, etc.)

Other than that, I can't say anything else without theorizing.

    So my theories are:

-Hoole, in GoF recalls the neat, ordered streets of the cities of Lao-Mon. So from that I can guess that the Shi'ido cleared patches of forest, found non-forest land, or went below ground to get such nice cities/streets. It could be a combo of the latter of the two, due to their peaceful and curious nature.

-And based on what Hoole likes to wear, maybe the Shi'ido in general wear robes in blues and greys and such, coupled with the headgear/hood, is sort of an allusion to scholarly robes from the middle ages. ;) The headwear was probably to keep other non Shi'ido at ease by covering their naturally bald heads. Lessen the shock factor?

-Zak Arranda, I think, made a comment on Hoole being snobbish and stiff. But later on it's proven that Hoole does have feelings(Hoole is my primary example of things). I think that Shi'ido are usually(with the exception of Gog) quiet and serene, and rarely lose their temper(from what we get in Darth Bane: Rule of Two, Belia Darzu didn't seem all that angry/passionate, but appeared to enjoyed messing with people's heads by changing shape/gender every once in awhile. Odd I guess.)

-Shi'ido use telepathic suggestions, so they are all force-sensitive to some degree, I'd wager. Nobody in Star Wars, to my knowledge, could be telepathic without using the force. Similar to the Miraluka's force sight, but not completely necessarry.

That's all I've got for now. Probably more later.

    :)
