Are the pieces on the ROTS soundtrack in chronological order? They seem a little out of place to me... They're out of order because Anakin's Dream should come after General Grievous and Anakin Vs. Obi-Wan should come before General Grievous Speaks to Lord (shouldn't it be Darth?) Sidious...Grievous was nicely fried by the time it was Anakin's turn. Does anyone know the real order?

    1) Star Wars and The Revenge of the Sith
    2) Grievous and the Droids (though most of it was cut)
    3) Grievous Speaks to Lord Sidious
    4) Anakin's Dream
    5) Palpatine's Teachings
    6) General Grievous
    7) Padme's Ruminations
    8) Anakin's Betrayal
    9) Enter Lord Vader
    10) Anakin's Dark Deeds
    11) Anakin vs. Obi-Wan
    12) Battle of the Heroes
(this is the concert suite, but most of it was used for the end of The Duel)
    13) The Immolation Scene
    14) The Birth of the Twins and Padme's Destiny
    15) A New Hope and End Credits

This list is based entirely on when the cues debut, but with film edits it would have The Revenge of the Sith at 6 1/4, Grievous and the Droids again at 6 1/2, Palpatine's Teachings again at 6 3/4, and Grievous speaks to Lord Sidious again at 10 1/2.

Wow, I hope that made sense. :p If it didn't though, I can try to clarify it a bit with a few more details.

No, they are not in chronological order. But then again, not many film soundtracks are.

I think they are arranged for best "listening experience" order. In other words, I think they try to set up the tracks so that listening to the CD is a nicely balanced, pleasant experience, perhaps with alternating slow and upbeat tracks for variety.

I agree, but I ussually listen to the Battle of Heroes, when Obi-Wan gives Luke to Beru, and Obi-Wan vs. Anakin. I love those pieces.

Anakin's dream is before Grievous speaks to Lord Sidious in the film. Otherwise, that list is correct :)
Some tracks have been mixed, though.

    Wonderful music!

a Coruscant tower cuts from Grievous' conversation to the balcony/dream/veranda sequence, so it's correct

Here is something you can do, using a musci editing program, the ROTS soundtrack, the TPM UE Soundtrack and AOTC:

    01. Fox Fanfare (TPM UE)
    02. Star Wars Main Theme and Boys into Battle (ROTS track 1)
    03. The Invisible Hand is damaged (TPM UE track 32 0:16 - end)
    04. Grievous jumps ship (ROTS track 7 0:00 - 0:41)
    05. Crashlanding on Coruscant (TPM UE track 28 0:00 - 0:02 and same track 0:15 - 1:29)
    06. Grievous talks to Palpatine and Anakin's Dream (ROTS track 13 0:00 - 1:49 and ROTS track 2)
    07. Council Meeting (ROTS track 6 2:25 - 4:42)
    08. Palpatine's teachings (ROTS track 6 0:00 - 1:35)
    09. Kashyyyk (haven't edited this one, but it contains music from AOTC 'Arena Battle')
    10. Riding Boga (ROTS track 5 0:00 - 1:05)
    11. The Battle of Utapau (this one is tricky, you start with track 1 4:45 - 5:21, then add track 1 1:17 - 1:38 and then track 5 1:25 - 2:19)
    12. Palpatine's Seduction (track 6 1:38 - 2:27)
    13. Obi-Wan vs Grievous (track 5 2:19 - 3:34)
    14. Padmé's Ruminations and Palpatine Instructs Anakin (track 8 unedited, I know much missing, but most of it is unreleased)
    15. Vader enters the temple (have't edited it yet, contains again music from AOTC)
    16. Order 66 and Anakin's Betrayal (ROTS track 4)
    17. Moving Things Along (ROTS track 6 4:44 - end and track track 11 0:12 - end)
    18. Anakin's Dark Deeds and "It can't be" (ROTS track 10)
    19. A Moody Trip (ROTS track 13 1:50 - 2:39)
    20. Sith vs Jedi (ROTS track 9 and TPM (not UE) track 2 edited, all quiet passages deleted)
    21. Heroes Collide (ROTS track 3 edited)
    22. The Immolation Scene (ROTS track 12)
    23. The Birth of the Twins and Padmé's Destiny (ROTS track 14)
    24. A New Hope and End Credits (ROTS track 15)

I was wondering when someone would do this! Thanks guys! But I have a question. Rogan Agar what do you mean when you say TPM VE Soundtrack? Is it the orignal S.T. or the special edtion S.T.

By 'UE' he means the 'Ultimate Edition' two-disc set. With the scary blue Darth Maul on.

That's the point. John Williams said as much several years ago. All soundtracks that are released are done for pure listening experience. That's why many scores are not released in chronological order or with every cue included. Mainly because some cues are rather short. This is especially true of the second and third Superman soundtracks.

Pah... you don't need those lousy old LPs. Just buy the Blue Box.

I was refering to it. Some of the cues were rather short and thus they had to be combined together with others to be long enough to be considered a full on track.

Yet the Blue Box contains every cue in chronological order, despite that some are combined.
This is then not "especially true" of the Superman sequels.
