Padawan Ponytail

I asked this in the wrong forum apparently...

I was wondering whats an easy, or even a way to attach a fake pony tail to short hair.

I know Obi-Wan's was real, but Anakins changed throughout teh fil. Sometimes it looked like it tugged the top, otehr times like it was connected :S

I am using spirit gum for the braid, which BTW is AWESOME. But alas, doesn't work with the ponytail.

Suggestions?

I could grow it out...but erm, is a fan movie a big enough excuse??

I think a fan film is a good excuse. I have VERY long hair (as in a little past the middle of my back). I was going to sacrifice my hair for a film project. Alas the film got scrapped, but luckily for my locks I got word the day before I was going under the knife.

If you have time to grow it out (and it doesn't need to be terribly long for a Padawan), grow it out I say.

Otherwise, I've no clue how to attatch something. You might try consulting someone at a beauty supply place or a hair stylist...

Personally, I always thought the 'ponytail' things looked like mullets that someone tried to make a ponytail out of...

 

Well they start at the base of teh skull, and short underneath.

I am thinking of growing it out.

Tentitive filming date is Spring...loads of time.

Still any thoughts welcome.

Well, I know that they sewed it on. But I can't see how it would stay on. I know when I went into a sleep study the glued electrodes to my head, and they used some kind of really smelly glue. But then again you had to use acetone to get it out and even then I had clumps of yucked up hair.

Try using either a clear hair tie or a barratte that is close to your hair color.

Personally I think that you should grow it out. I mean I'm growing a braid for my movie and It isn't going to begin shooting until probably the end of May.

Hmmm...I'll have to try, its just a clump of hair being attached would be odd, lol.

Yep. it does look like it's his hair. I'm having trouble finding a GOOD section of hair for the padawan braid. I really don'tt wnna go chase down someone can grab a lock of hair. ;-) jk

I went to a costume shop, found fake hair, it looks and feels great!

Though for teh movie I may get some from a barbers. You should try and ask. Tell them how much you need

has anyone else been brave and strong enough with the Force to grow one?

My Braid is on the right side, however I AM trying to grow one. My hair grows slowly and with a scissor happy beautican it makes this task much harder.Grrrr So for a sci fi Con I'll have to use an extension. The idea to ask barbers and beauticans for long locks of hair is an excellant one.

Hair is just hair. DOesn't matter if it's long as long as it's clean, combed and well kempt, who cares. Also if the wearer looks good with long hair and not a dweeb.

I've had my braid since the night of May 19th 1999. I remember the before-the-movie tailgate party that my friends and I had before going to the midnight showing (going nice and early to get a semi-decent place in line that is). At it, we had a sort of jedi ceremony where my friend and I had that small braid (on our right sides) done and a few inches cut off of the rest. The rest of my hair is still long, but since the braid has grown out for 3 years...it is about 4 inches below the hair...and if you don't want to cut your hair at all, just wear a regular pony-tail...

just to let those of you who are thinking of starting one know however...you'll have to re-braid it every two weeks or so, and after awhile it becomes less than perfect with different length hairs. Personally, I have to really clean it up before going somewhere in my jedi robes...(a re-braid, mabye snipping off a few loose ends, and gel a lot of times)

any way, it's all going to pay off I can't wait for the after-epIII party where my friends and I get our braids cut off...(another one of my friends had gotten a braid at our party right before ep II)

I've been growin one too! but only since last May, when I started my one year countdown to epII. Mine's about 9 inches long, and its so sweet! its wicked cool for someone to yell out "JEDI!!" when they see my braid.

I'd love to see a picture of your padawan braid dude, put up a pic! im gonna post some of mine right now...btw...does anyone know how i can post a pic in one of these msgs? i'll keep my braid pic on my site for now, see sig.
