I was doing some research for my Architectural History class and I found this interesting info. I just thought everyone would want me to share it.

When Louis XIV announced to the council his absolute monarchy, he proclaimed, "L'Etat, c'est moi" and "La face du theatre change".

This translates to "I am the state" and "The face of the theater changes".

I found this amazing. The irony of history. I wonder if George looked to this part of history for influence or if it was pure coincidence.

Louis XIV also believed the universe revolved around him, therefore he called himself the "Sun King." He was one of the most incompetant and downright horrible kings. Sidious was far more intelligent than Louis could ever dream of being.

True, but I am not necessarily trying to pit Sidious against Louis XIV. I am merely referring the the "I am the state" and the "I am the Senate" comments. As well as the "face of the theater changes" being ironic due to Sidious' transformation/deformation. Also I am interested in if George used this as a reference or if it was purely coincidence. If a mod or anyone with the knowledge knows, I would appreciate it.

Read more. Monarchs thru out history have said very similar things. Very common phrase for a Monarch.
