I'm not sure...but don't you have to set the external mic in the menu?

    Let me check...

    hmmmm...maybe it's this: [camera functions]>>[recording setup]>>[mic level adj.]>>[yes]

I just bought this camera, by the way. How long do you have yours? I've heard some good and bad things about it. Like you should never use it as a VCR, because the camera starts to malfunction after a while. The good things: good image quality (for an one CCD camera) and, if you work recording wedings and such, it looks very "professional" (it's a shoulder cam).

By the way, I'm looking for an external mic to it. Any tips?
