He announced on Twitter that next season will be his last: I remember as a kid it was ritual every evening to watch Wheel of Fortune at 7pm followed by Jeopardy! at 7:30. I liked both but was always partial to Wheel as my favorite of the two. I always loved when I figured out the puzzle before the contestants did, or got a bonus round puzzle right when the contestant missed it. Any early guesses for his replacement?
I expect Vanna follows him out the door. I hate to say it (like REALLY hate to say it) but Ryan Seacrest has the personality to fill Pat's shoes.
I’ve never seen a full episode in my life, but always play a Wheel of Fortune slot whenever I’m in Vegas.
A sharp contrast to Alex Trebek showing working class solidarity by working until he died, that’s for sure.
As long as it's not Ryan Seacrest or Michael Strahan I'll keep watching. Years ago the idea that Pat's daughter Maggie would replace him some day was floating around the internet. Maybe they'll do what Jeopardy did- have a cycle of hosts while pretending the final decision wasn't made and the producer casts himself.
Isn’t Pat’s daughter - Maggie Sajack going to host? She’s been part of the show for a while now. It seemed like Wheel of Fortune was transitioning her to take over and it happened in a gradual natural way that’s not jarring to the audience. Does anyone remember the CBS late night talk show Sajack? I liked it. It was up against Arsineo Hall and Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show. It was crushed so bad in ratings CBS quite late night talk shows. When Sajack was cancelled CBS ran sexy crime dramas at the 11:30 time slot for three years until Letterman started the Late Show.
I could never get the appeal of Wheel of Fortune; but more power to Sajak on his impending retirement.
Im talking about Doctor Professor Texas Insturments Speak n’ Spell I like your guy is an actual wheel!
I never did figure out how this game worked. Something about spinning a wheel, and hoping you don't land on "bankrupt", and then guessing at some letters...
he honestly believed that he was qualified to do other things besides hosting a game show. I found his optimism quite charming.
WoF was ever so slightly more upscale than the "open a suitcase" gameshow that Meghan Markle did early in her career.
