[face_laugh] My grandmother says that. She also says "warsh" instead of "wash".

    She's from Alabama.

It is not. Plenty of people around here say it. The girl at the table next to me in the dining hall is saying it right now. She is talking about her diet and pronounces "Splenda" "splendor."
"I like splendor better than Sweet N Lo"

What about just saying sanwich (san witch)? That's cool, right?

Also, I'm kind of distracted right now because I have this big term paper due for a class on Health, Culture, and Global Asymmetries in Healthcare. As the title suggests, it looks at different issues in healthcare that affect minority or disempowered groups, from people with stigmatized ailments (eg epilepsy, which some cultures bill las demonic possession) to African-Americans in the US, to women. We look at issues of how their disadvantaged status effects the care they recieve, whether they receive care, or how we should consider elective procedures whose only justifications are cultural.

I had really wanted to do one on circumcision, but someone is already doing male circumcision in Judaism, so I don't have any idea what I could do.

I ordered a Dr. Pepper in a restaurant in New York several years ago, and the waiter was like "aww, you're from the South, aren't you?".

I've only heard it used once, by Dane Cook, and that's reason enough to not have it be used by anyone else.

    However, "Sammich" is PERFECTLY acceptable.
